First and foremost, my condolences to the families and friends. I know this is late and I should have said something earlier but I need to get this off my chest. I remember meeting John during the delay entry program in 2004. Though I was the only female there but quite tough. We would do our PFT and after John would say "hey, you a bad mama jamma" and we would break out laughing. The last time I saw him was November of 2005, at New River in North Carolina. We sat down and talked at the chowhall. This was when I found out he went in as infantry. I never thought that that'll been the last time seeing him. I guess I didnt want to accept that fact. However I will say this, the God I serve is an awesome one and was deeply an honor and a blessing knowing someone that cool. I miss him so much. Rest in Power.

I had the honor of meeting and sitting beside John on his flight into Shreveport from basic. This young man left an impression on my heart and I have thought of him every year since. I live in Lonview In east Texas and somehow heard on the evening news when he was taken to heaven. On this day to remember he is in my thought and his family still in my prayers. Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know John, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

To John's family--I was thinking of John today as I do quite often. I miss him as I know my boys Eric and Kyle do too. And my husband Rick speaks of John often. John helped Rick so many times with Boy Scout events. He also helped on both Eric and Kyle's Eagle scout projects. He came to our home so many times and I always was so amazed by John. I told him many times that he was the oldest young man I had ever met. He just was always so focused, kind, caring and family oriented. I just wanted you to know we miss him and will never forget what a wonderful person he was.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

I am the father of Lance Corporal Benjamin Pousseur and John was his “buddy” at SOI. Ben and John seemed to have formed an instant bond and they had plans to get together this coming summer and spend some time touring the country. Ben spoke of him often with great affection and when he learned of his loss, well, he was over come with grief. Ben has now lost 12 of his friends in Iraq and even though he has not seen action their yet, I still see the scars. Losing John is another scar in his heart and mind. His grief runs deep. Every loss is a sad loss. Every loss is a life that cannot be replaced by any other human on this earth. I share your sadness and my tears at the loss of your son. You are in my prayers and I hope to meet John one day when we all get to heaven and thank him personally for his service. As the father of a Marine, I realize that one day you may be writing me this very same letter and I pray that God will deliver this nation and our service men and women, father, mothers, son, daughters, brothers, sisters and friends from this conflict. Your in my heart and I mourn with you

“Paid in Full”
In Honor of The War Against Terrorism’s Fallen and Injured Marines
Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full
We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward
What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give it all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our minds we will cherish your lives
Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the few, the proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us
They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of the lives that were lost for people unknown
Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

Even though many were blessed to be his friend, I was honored to have been his sister. My sister, Sonia, put it best when she said that we not only mourned for what we lost, but we will never have again. I have tried my best to take care of my parents and family in this dire time. With John gone, I felt it was my duty and a privilege.
Please pray not only for John's family, but for all the other families who have lost or who are desperately hoping that they will not suffer this same tragedy.
America should not forget, we are still at war. They are fighting for us. Do not wait until we lose them, let them know now - that we are behind them all the way.

I am an ex-Marine-if there is such a thing-I share your sorrow but tell you that you have much reason for pride in your son. May God give you peace and ease your pain as time goes on...he did his part to protect us here-by going there-and that's something to be both thankful for and proud of.

John was a part of our Church Family while I pastored the First Church of God there in Shreveport. We loved him very much and had prayed with him many times over decisions he was making. My son and daughter both were part of the youth group at the Church with John. I will honor him again in the morning service here at our Church in Chattanooga,Tn. by telling his story. We send our prayers and love to each and all. May God be with you all.

John is a special young man. He is friendly, loving and quick to share what God has done for him. My special memory is his solo in our Easter Cantata. I am blessed because I knew John.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this time of your loss.
I am a Mother who had a son who served in Afghanistan for 8 months, he turned 20 while he was overseas. During that 8 months I learned that all the soldgiers serving are all of our Sons & Daughters.
So even though I did not know John, I feel the loss of a Son. Our City, Community, State & Country has lost a Good Marine.
May God be with your Family, your all in my Prayers......

Final Roll Call
Did you hear the sad news today?
A brave Marine warrior has passed away.
Called by the Supreme Commander over all.
Today he has made his final roll call.
Come fellow vets; let us reverently bow and pray
For our valiant comrade, who has fallen this day.
We’ll drape his casket with a banner of beautiful hues,
Those glorious American colors: red, white and blue.
That star spangled banner he gallantly fought to defend,
Unyielding and undaunted, he fought to win.
He fought bravely and he passed the battle test.
Now the Supreme Commander grants him, “eternal rest”.
With dignity and honor, we’ll commit his body to the ground,
The bugler will sound “Taps” and we’ll fire the volley rounds.
The final military honors we’ll render somberly and ever so sadly;
“Old Glory” we’ll solemnly precisely fold and reverently give to his family.
Each Memorial Day we will recall our fallen comrade's name,
And attest that his selfless sacrifices was not in vain;
For this lasting legacy he gave to all generations;
“It’s honorable to respect our flag and to defend our great nation.”
So close ranks aging warriors, for our ranks are thinning.
We must keep on fighting and keep on winning.
With pride and honor we’ll march and stand tall,
And we’ll proudly - proudly - salute “Old Glory”
‘til we too make our final roll call.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Lance Cpl. John Edward Hale our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Cpl. Hale. And to Cpl. Hale it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the supreme sacrifice he made in combat while serving his country. No greater love is shown than a man sacrifice his life for another. Cpl. Hale, you are a true Marine we bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace. “Semper Fi”
On behalf of the 1,452 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Cpl. Hale’s family and loved ones.

To the Family of Lance Cpl. John E. Hale:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son (SFC Brent A. Adams) 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday.
I wish so badly there was something I could say to you right now, but, I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for right now. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as your heart is both bursting with pride and pain together. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is those wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.
