With the anniversary of September 11th tomorrow, I take a moment to remember the people who have been lost following the attacks that day. I knew Scott as a great dad, always excited to pick Sydney up from her pre-school. I will always remember his smiling face, and the love that he had for his family. I will never forget his sacrifice and the sacrifice his family has made. You are in my thoughts often.

I discovered tonite that we lost this treasured warrior more than two years ago and i am stunned. I was his team leader in the 96th and pushed his warrant packet forward. He was one of a handful of professional soldiers who made a mark on me. I will think of him every day. I wish Gods' oversight to his family. We can never repay what Scott gave to all of us.

To the many wonderful people who have signed Scott's Guest Book. I thank you as Scott's Mother. We appreciate everyone's prayers and thoughts. Scott is so missed by so many people. The family visited Arlington Cemetery on his birthday. We celebrated this wonderful hero, we cried, we laughed, we took him a Coors Light and some Copenhagen, flowers, cards, ballons and spent the day with him. His wonderful friend Rick Fritts drove all the way up from Port St. John, FL. to spend the day. Jodi, Casey, Signey, Dawn, Mike, Bailee, Alexie and myself had a really good visit. I have meet some of the most endearing families at Arlington. Families of other fallen heros. It is so very sad to see all the new graves filled with people who died for our freedom. What special men and women. God Bless them all. Sandy Miller, Mother of the most amazing son in the world.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Jodi,
I could say so much about that amazing husband of yours. He was just so full of life and love. He had a passion for life that I had never seen before. What a good life he had.A beautiful, successful loving wife, 2 great children and a great house by the lake , he was proud of it all. He put a smile of your face by either what he was saying or doing. He is amazing and I know that he is up in Heaven being the same great guy that we all love but without the cursing. ha ha. I know your life will never be the same without him and I want you to know that ours won't be either. We miss him and we always will.

Dear Sandy, Tawnie & Dawn,
I wanted to write to you all for a while now, I have been speechless and sad to hear about Scotty. Right now as I'm writing this I'm crying. We have had many memories of a lifetime together, I've felt as if I was a part of your family forever. I'll never forget the time Scott pulled the chair out from under me when he was a teenager, I was pregnant with Corey at the time. It was so funny to him. I loved him like my little brother. I remember little pranks that he would do to Tawnie and me growing up. Dawn and Scotty were so close always.....I have been so proud of him as a man, father, husband and serving our great country. He is not only my little brother I will always remember, but he is my hero, as he is to all of us. I love you all so very much, I'm here if there is anything I can do for you. My e-mail is [email protected]
My heart and prayers go out to you all!! Love to you all, Always. Love, Tracy Ferguson

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers
Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever
Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away
Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go
We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light
Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray
Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

To all the wonderful friends, family and caring people, I thank you for your love and support. Jodi, Tawnie, Dawn and myself find your words comforting. I miss my son, more than words can express. He was my friend, my heart and soul. Scott was a very special person to so many people. He touched so many lives. Jodi, Casey and Sydney,
Your husband, your dad - was the finest man i've ever known- Scott lived the life that so many spend their entire lives trying to find.
- the maker surely broke the mold with Scott Dyer.
I know the pearly gates were wide open for CWII Scott W. Dyer, but don't you know he stopped at the gate to shake the hand of St. Pete to say "hey man, my name is Scott"
They'll probably still be talking if and when i ever get there.
The night sky shines more brightly tonight.

My heart goes out to you and your family. I read about Scott after seeing the photos taken at his furneral in Arlington. The photo of Sidney tugs at my heart. This is such a difficult time for for all of you. Please know that as an American Scott stood for what America is all about. We have the freedoms today because of our men and women in service. Not a day goes by that they are not thought about and wear our flag proud in support of them. Scott gave for us and I will always remember him.
My sincere sympathy to you and know that so many of us are praying for you.

I am honored to have known Scott and fondly recall tales of his family on the most demanding of days - plans of a house on the lake and riding motorbikes with his son come to mind. I'll remember him as one of the really good guys I have befriended in really bad places.
Scott embodied charistics of fidelity, bravery, and integrity in fighting to protect our country. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Dyer family.

I served with Scott in the Scout platoon, 509th ABN in 1990-91. I remember him as one who lived every moment to the fullest. I cannot recall ever having seen him in a bad mood. Scott was always an interesting character to watch; his enthusiasm in the face of general misery was inspirational.
My thoughts are with his family and on the remembrance and celebration of a life, that at 38, was fuller than most would know at twice the age.

Scottie,
I remember so much about you while you were growing up, you were always "rough & ready" to take on anything that came your way. Then you moved to Florida with your Mom and Sisters, and Aunt Flo & Uncle Eddie, your grandma & grandad(mamaw Flo) as you used to call her. You then came to Va to visit with me and my husband for a time, and you were all grown up....however, still remaining, "rough & ready"... Now you have endless skies, the highest mountains and have left precious memories of lives you have touched! Have Peace, dear Cousin! Your memory will be cherished forever!

I want to thank Scott's family for their sacrafice. Our family has gone through a similar loss and prayer is the only thing that has got us through. We also lost A 3rd group SF soldier of 19 years, MSG Anthony Yost. I am sure he knew Scott and they are now together watching over all of us. Scott has made the ultimate sacrafice for freedom and our safety. I will be in debt to him forever. I find comfort in knowing, that this isn't home we are all just passing through and one day soon we will be with them again. I have found that talking to families that share the same loss has been comforting, and our family will be there for you if you need us.
God Be With You,

I am so sad to hear about Scott. Growing up I became best friends with his sister Dawn and got to know Scott very well. In order to see Dawn, I had to endure wedgies, wrestling manuvers, and other things Scott thought were funny. But even after all of that, I couldn't help wanting to hang out with him. He taught me how to ride motorcycles, skateboard, and he was just the "cool" kid that you always wanted to be around. It's easy to see from all the entries that he touched the lives of many people the same way. I am so proud of him for following his dreams of going into the military, and thank him for helping to keep my family safe. He is truly a hero. To Scotts family, friends, and Dawn (still one of my best friends) you all are in my prayers.

Our deepest sympathies go out to you and your family. The memorial service at Bragg was beautiful and the eulogies given by friends and the pictures showed the true nature of Scott. To the Family of Chief Warrant Officer Scott Dyer:
If your child can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 as well and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for right now. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten . You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

I know how hard it is... I was so shocked when i heard that he had passed when i got that phone call. He was a great person to our family and friends. For the little time i saw him,he was a great person as a father, husband, son, uncle, brother. We will remember all the good memories we have spent with him. My heart goes out to our family. It will be hard to move on and it will take time.
"If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, i would walk right up to heaven and bring you home again." Scott will be missed terribly by all of us. He will always be in our hearts. WE LOVE YOU SCOTT! and we will miss you a lot. GOD BLESS!

God Bless your family for the loss of Scott. On behalf of my family, myself, and for the many who undoubtedly share my sentiments, thank you for your sacrifice to preserve our liberty and way of life. I happen to share the view of Scott that if this war was not being fought on foreign soil, then it certainly would be here ... with the bravery of all of the good men and women of our military, as with Scott, perhaps, if we are so blessed, our children and grandchildren will one day be able to look back and conclude that indeed this evil was largely held in check on foreign soil by the likes of good people like Scott. Only time will tell. God Bless and Keep You. With Sincere Condolences.

from personal experience, i believe wholeheartedly that mr dyer had a smile when he died...
as a paramedic, i responded to a call that was a fatality... the mans face was calm and at peace... we later learned the man had a strong faith, and an even stronger sense of a fullfilled, purpose driven life...
mr dyer seems like that kind of person...
