Dear Arechaga Family,
One day in a parking lot in Jacksonville, NC. during a heavy downpour of rain, I saw a black piece of metal lying on the ground. I picked it up knowing what it was, a memorial bracelet with your son's name on it(as well as L/cpl Bowman, Pfc Feniello) It has been almost a year now and I still have that bracelet with me and I think of your son and the others often. We have never met, probably never will, but I wanted you to know how greatful I am to live in a country that produces young men with the courage and bravery of your son. From a former Marine - Thank You.

Chega,
Words can't describe how much I miss you. I have no idea where the time has gone, but it seems like yesterday we were standing side by side in endless formations. My family and I talk about you daily and your family is always in our prayers. I show my children pictures of you all the time, and my son always say, "Daddy there is our hero". I will never forget the three plus years we lived together and the great times we had. I miss you so much and can't wait to see you on the other side. Semper FI! Former SGT Justin Slep

You have affected so many lives in your short time here on earth. You were a leader of Marines and one to emulate for days to come. From us hanging out at HP435 to the sands of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan and all the way back to Tarheels yelling at POG's, you will never be forgotten. From one Marine to another, Semper FI brother.

Julian,
It seems like just yesterday that we were in Jacksonville hanging out at the barracks. We made some great memories. We started hanging out a lot right before I got out. I remember we went to a Japanese restaurant and you were trying to catch the gold fish out of the pond. What I remember the most was the person and Marine that you were. You knew how to motivate people and you always got the job done. I thank you for the person that you are. I will never forget you.

Chaga,
It doesn't seem that long ago that the Corps lost 3 great warriors. Unfortunately myself and the rest of the Marines from the platoon (Cold Steel 1) have left 1/6 and went our seperate ways in the corps and out. But not before we continued to do great things in Iraq and a lot of us continued on to Afghanistan to continue the effort. You would have been proud of the Marines you trained. Just know that even though the platoon is no longer together we will never forget and you are always a part of all our lives.

The trouble you would get into. All those things I remember I look fondly back on. I just so wish we could have seen more of what you had to offer. Your life was taken way too soon from us. To my angel, everyday gets harder. Why I am here without u I will never know. I miss u so much and wish u were here beside me. I dont understand why everydays gets harder as time pushes on . I wish I could talk to u, bc I would ask u why? Why u loved me and left me hanging on for the day I will see u again. Sometimes when I think of u and the things we used to do (u know) I wish I could freeze time and savor that moment forever. I cant wait to spend eternity with u bc u were everything to me " my whole world" to death do us part. I dont want to be here without u beside me. "Fallon" is the reason I wake up everyday and u are the reason I lay my head down everynight hopeing I will see u in the light. I did what u said and carried on with my life, but sometimes I wonder if its worth it not having u here with me, even though u r in my heart its still not the same. Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Julian 2 years to the day the family comes together to remember you. We pulled out all the old videos of you and we remember how great of a person you are. This year was even harder than before as the family gathered around, Sheyla and I so want you to be there. The memories are harder to cope with these days as we come to realize more and more you will not be coming home. We love you Brother as always until we meet again…….

i will die on my feet, i will not live on my knees
i will do this so America can stay free

My heart breaks as I sign another guestbook of such a courageous soldier who gave his life so selflessly. May he rest in peace knowing that he is loved and remembered by those who knew him. God Bless this soldier and his family who gave all and made the ultimate sacrifice. May God grant you peace, strength and comfort in such a difficult time. My deepest condolences and prayers to the entire family.
We understand what you are experiencing and feeling. No amount of words can ease the pain of your loss. We know first hand there are no words of comfort at this time. We lost our only son 9-3-2004 at the age of 19 and it fells like yesterday. Just know that there are Marines and families across the USA who is experiencing your loss and pain. We will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes.
I still fly my Marine flag and have my Marine tag and sticker on my vehicles because I'm PROUD of my SON and DAUGHTER, and all the SERVICE MEN and WOMEN out there. We will always be a MARINE. We are proud of you all.

Father we entrust our brother Julian to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold Julian in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My deepest sympathy.

Julian, it has been a while since I wrote, but you are not forgotten. Last week was hard for me, it had been 1 year since I last heard your voice. Your were about to be deployed and called to say goodbye. October 9th will be even harder, the 1 year anniversary of you leaving this earth. I love you more every day and miss you so much.

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Dear Family of Julian Arechaga,
At a 4-year memorial at Emory University, I was given a paper crane and instructed to randomly choose a name of a soldier who had lost his or her life in Iraq. My finger rested on the name "Sgt. Julian M. Arechaga" and I wrote his name on the crane. Later in the event, students were asked to approach the microphone and read a name from the list of soldiers that was passed down the line... and my heart stopped as I recognized the name I was to announce. I'm not superstitious by any means, but I am certain that something in the grand disorder of this universe aligned today. I am so sorry for your loss, and I will remember Julian for the rest of my life.

The band of brothers goes further than some would beleive. It continues on even though generations pass through one fact. If a Marine falls we all know that they are needed for a higher purpose. IF a MARINE IS CALLED FROM 1/6, WE ALL FEEL THIS LOSS. MY THOUGHTS. SEMPER FIDELIS, A 1/6 A-CO 2ND PLT VET. GO EASY BROTHER.

Julian,
My heart aches and there is not a day that goes by that I don't think about you or cry. I miss you so much. You are like a son to me. I saw a beautiful sunrise one morning on my way to work. The first thing I thought about was you and that sunrise was just like you. Beautiful. I love you.

“Paid in Full”
In Honor of The War Against Terrorism’s Fallen and Injured Marines
Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full
We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward
What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give it all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our minds we will cherish your lives
Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the few, the proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us
They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of the lives that were lost for people unknown
Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full
