Lester Baroncini Obituary

Lester Domenico Baroncini, Jr. Jan. 19, 1973 - Oct. 15, 2006 Doughty-Calhoun-O'Meara Recitation of the Rosary will take place on Friday, October 27, 2006 at 10 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Father Craig Harrison, at Saint Francis Catholic Church, 900 H Street, Bakersfield, California. Lester Domenico Baroncini Jr. was born on January 19, 1973 in Bakersfield, California and passed away in Iraq on October 15, 2006. Domenico, as he was best known, was predeceased by both sets of Grandparents, Lester and Irene Baroncini and W.A and Mildred Banks. He is survived by his parents Lester and Pixie Baroncini, sister Anici Baroncini Schultz, brother-in-law Kevin Schultz and nephews Nathan, Mason and Ty Schultz. Domenico is also survived by his Great Uncle and Great Aunt Dick & Florence Baroncini, Great Aunt Josephine Othart and many cousins. Domenico attended Buena Vista Elementary School, graduated in 1991 from Bakersfield High School and attended Bakersfield College. He worked on the family ranch from the time he was big enough to rope, ride and drive a tractor. Domenico also worked several years for Dwight and Helen Mebane. His work ethics were known far and wide. If a job needed to be done, you did it right or you did it over. His passion for ranch life shown through with his love of horses, especially Patsy and his dog Boo. Domenico had only gotten two rides on a new custom-made saddle. This saddle was handmade for him by Sgt. Brad Davis. After 9/11, Domenico's patriotism, that started at a young age, reawakened and at the age of 30, he enlisted in the Army in October of 2003. He'd said to his parents, If some elses child can go, I can go. Domenico's basic training was at Fort Benning, Georgia, where he graduated with honors on February 20, 2004. He then transferred to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the home of the 82nd Airborne, where he was proud to be a paratrooper. Domenico did extremely well for someone who was referred to as "Old Man" by the younger servicemen. Captain Uptgraft wrote to Domenico's parents, in a Christmas card, that Domenico was one of his "Go-To Guys." He performed above and beyond expectations when presented with any and all tasks. Upon being sent to help with the devastation of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Domenico said that he looked forward to returning to the city once it was rebuilt. His enlistment was due to end this month, but prior to that, in August, he was sent to Iraq thus extending his tour. Domenico was looking forward to returning to the ranch life that he always loved, with hopes of raising his own family as he had been raised. He inspired true friendship and was a true friend in return. Time spent with his friends was never long enough. Spending time outdoors, whether hunting or working, was always enjoyable. Domenico's strong faith and his total devotion to country, family and God were strongly felt throughout his life. Pallbearers will be Sgt. Nguyen Huynh, Brian Woods, Tony Blaza, Justin Mebane, Mike Sugg, Brian Quinton, John Hay, Matt Baker and Aaron Kopp. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeff Giannelli, Vincent Giannelli, Mario Buoni Jr., Mario Buoni III, Mark Cerro, Gary Watts, Jerry Taylor, Dwight Mebane, Chet Mebane, Bennett Mebane, Denny Carver, Levi Kophamer, Mark Beal, Bernard Ansolabehere, Gary Bunn, Marcus Bunn, Joseph Crump and Tyler Helton. The Baroncini Family is very grateful for all the visits, calls, food and flowers that they have received. Special thanks go to Father Craig Harrison for his assistance, love and support. Thank you also to the United States Military. For those considering a donation, the family hopes you will think of any children's charity. Our Domenico was a gift from God, lent to us for too short of a time. Tell your children daily that you love them.

I remember two guys..our Senior year in high school..still riding the school bus our first day of our last year. We rode that same bus from our first day as our first year as Freshman. In the beginning we were always making fun of one another, but along the way we also became good friends. So much we thought of getting away from our parents and finding our own independence after we graduated. Real life and costs proved overwhelming and you stayed and I enlisted in the Army.

After many years, active duty, getting out, moving, school, National Guard, Reserves, moving etc....I wondered how my ole friend Lester was doing back in Bakersfield and wanted to reconnect. After a couple of minutes of searching I found that I was only a couple of days too late.

I wish I was able to get with ya once and admire how you got rid of the cowboy hat to wear the goofy one us enlisted folk had to wear...and I wish I was there with ya...just like all those long rides home on the school bus...

We are thinking of you on this Veterans Day. HEROES live in our hearts forever. You are a true American HERO.
If, by chance, a member or friend of the family, would you please contact me at my email. I made and have had a condolence book for Lester about six years ago. I was told by a friend of the family on a military group that they were having a hard time and it would be better to contact them at a later day. This book is to honor Lester and is full of messages from all over the United States. I would love to get it to them. I think they would be happy to know how much our country cared for him and for our military. thank you in advance

I always have trouble deciding if I want to write a message on the weekend or the actual day. My wish for this Memorial is that every American will take just a minute or two to say and little prayer for our Heroes in Heaven and for those still here on earth. That is such a small thing to do and something that is well deserved.
We will be thinking of you and saying a little prayer for you. You will never be forgotten as long as I live.
HEROES NEVER DIE. THEY LIVE IN OUR HEARTS FOREVE. I truly do believe this.

Me and Lester worked in the same unit, He was a good soldier and a great friend. When this happen I was on leave, and that day I decided to go the unit just see friends, that's how I found about Lester. At that moment I couldn't believe it, I thought it was bad joke, so I left the unit and went straight to my car. Then I sat in my car for quiet a bit I looked back to unit and I start thinking all the good and bad times we had working together in the unit and I started to cry. My brother I will never forget you, take care pal.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Domenico, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

August 21, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

I attended Buena Vista School in Bakersfield with Domenico in the 1980's. Though he was 3 years younger than I, we were in the same classroom for a few years because of the school's then small size. I acted as kind of a "big sister" to Domenico (as we called him) and I was always quick to defend him if there were any trouble with the other students. Though Domenico was rather shy back then and rather quiet, he was always quick to flash a brilliant smile to share with those around him. He was kind, honest, and intelligent and though we were a few years apart in age, I understood and got along with him much better than the kids my age. I could not fathom that in the future, "little Domenico" would grow up to become such a brave man as to serve his country -- I am very proud of him. Though he grew up to become a great man, I will always cherish the memories of the shy little boy that I called my friend -- a friend that I called affectionately, "little Domenico". I will miss him and when my time is at hand, I look forward to seeing my friend once more.

To the Baroncini's
I also served with your son in the 82ND. I admired him for his superb professionalism and tackfulness. He was truly a silent professonal. He knew his jod and did what needed to be done to complete the mission. That is just one of the many reasons that you can remain very proud of your son. I know there is little that can be said to lessen the pain that comes with his death, but know that he did make a differance. Not only for this country, but for more importantly the young soldiers who he lead......the ones to his left and right who counted on him. They were never let down.
With the respect of a fellow solider.

To the family of Sgt. Lester D. Baroncini, my most sincere condolences.

My son, Spc. Robert Casais, a Fort Bragg soldier, is presently serving in Iraq with the 82nd Airborne. I can only imagine
the pain and sorrow that accompanies such a devastating loss of someone so young and full of life. These young brave men not only sacrifice their present lives, but also the lives they had yet to fulfull. Please find comfort in Jesus' promised resurrection (John 5:28&29) and in the knowledge that these "meek ones shall possess the earth and they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace". (Psalms 37:11)

Find joy in those tender, happy memories of times spent together and rest assured that Jehovah will remember Lester in that day. My prayers are with you.

No one should have to bury their children Pixi and Lester. My heart weeps for you. Our happiest memories of Dominico are at the fair showing steers. Those kids had so much fun. Lester did all the work and those kids played, ran around and thoroughly enjoyed be young. Dominico never lost touch with us. He would come by and see us regularly. A knock on the door in the evening would find Dominico standing there in full cowboy regalia, or his army gear. We will miss him.

Your son served with my son Shawn in Iraq. He was in your son's squad and spoke highly of him. Shawn was on patrol with him at the time of the incident. The last time we talked he said "Dad he’s a lot like you in many ways." He talked about his squad members a lot. Apparently your boy left an impression, I know my son will never forget your son, the incident nor your son's example of duty to country.
Sincerely, Roy Grossinger
I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss, and you are in our prayers. Your son is our hero. My little boys will know him, and will know of his passion to assist his country in it's time of need, and that he went to protect us. I will tell them of Domencio's love for his family and fellow countrymen, and that he died, so that we can stay free. I can't imagine your pain - and the emotions that you feel - they must be of sadness, yet filled with so much pride because your Son was such an example to so many, before September 11th, and after September 11th. I hope that I can instill in my sons the values and patriotism that was so apparently instilled in your son. With much sincerity and much admiration......

My mother, Mary DeSouza Pinheiro, grew up on the farm immediately west of where Domenico's great grandmother, Frances Baroncini, grew up on Wilson Road. In married life they lived only a mile from each other on their husbands' farms. My parents lost their first born son, Daniel David, in World War II in Germany. Now the Baroncini family has lost their only son in Iraq. The entire Pinheiro family offers their sympathy and prayers for your consolation.

In Memory Of A Soldier...A Friend

Not everyone could understand all that you went through
Not everyone could understand the thought of actually loosing you
I remember you had said you were ready to do what you had to do
A chance to serve your country, to uphold the Red, the White, and the Blue
The day that we met you became my respected friend
I didn’t want this to happen and I didn’t want it to end
I remember how you wanted to go, to do what was right
Even though you would be so far from home, you wanted to be next to your friends and fight
You always had that true warrior soul inside
I also knew that you weren’t about to stay behind
You were an amazing soldier, with all your values you stood tall
And for your country and its cause you have gave your all
So many things are taken for granted each and everyday
And with your life you had to pay
You gave the greatest sacrifice that anyone could give
And I know that you did this without regret so that others could happily live
My heart hurts so much and I cant help but cry
There’s such an awful pain inside and all I can seem to ask is why?
I still to this day don’t understand it all
Like why it was you that had to fall
I even catch myself asking God why and how
Why couldn’t you be standing here now?
I wish that you were here so that we could all hold you tight
But at least in my dreams I will see you tonight
I wanted to tell you no matter how much we change and grow
You will always remain in our hearts because we love you so
We may not know or truly understand
But at least we know you are in that Promised Land
All theses tears may relieve the pain in our hearts
But at least this is where we will never part
We might still ask God why all this sadness and pain
But even God knows there will be sunshine after this rain
Even the hurt as he called you away
You must know that in our hearts you will always stay
I can’t exactly find all the words left untold
That truly describe all this pain that I hold
Tears seem to flow like rivers from our reddened eyes
And my heart feels so dark like a gray stormy sky
It’s just so unbelievably hard to say goodbye
To such a wonderful friend that has died
Days seem filled with constant heartache and nights seem so full of unsleeping sorrow
It makes me think all the time, will it be like this tomorrow?
And with theses new tears swelling and falling from my eyes, I now stop to say a goodbye
We will meet again one day on high
For I know that death is never just the end
I know in my heart I will see you again
So goodbye for now...
My fellow soldier, a warrior, a hero, my Friend!

Lester buddy, i'm gonna miss you.

To the Baroncini family, please email me, Lester has some more belongings in NC. Lester was a great friend of mine and I am very sorry for your loss. He will always be in our hearts.

Baroncini Family,
I am a native of Bakersfield and I joined the US Army for the same reasons as your son. Although I no longer serve, my husband is a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. It is not easy to lose a family member, but you have to remember, this is what we signed up to do. Every day I count my blessings and everyday I appreciate what God has given us. Your son died for the freedom that many before us have preserved. I want to thank you and your son for the bravery he has shown in his short-lived life. May the support for our military continue to be strong. We keep you in our prayers!....A JOB WELL DONE!...HOOAH!

It seems like yesterday Lester was hanging out at our home. He was the one boyfriend of Reagans that was truly a family friend. He was always a gentleman to Reagan and especially caring to our son Zach. He would take Reagan and Zach to see the cows and even let Zach name one "Norman". He was 11 years older than Zach but he took him riding and hunting, something most 21 year olds didnt have time for.
One day several years back he just showed up at our door to say "hi".
He stayed a couple of hours just talking about nothing in particular. There was alot of laughing that day, typical of Dominico.
When I told my son how Lester had stayed in Iraq so others with families could return to them he said " that was Lester". and it was.
Lester was the gentle, caring and unselfish.
We will miss him and always remember him.

Dear Les and Pixie,

It is clear that Domenico was the kind of son of which every parent could be proud. I hope your deep sense loss at having him depart too soon is soothed a bit by your pride in Domenico's patriotism and devotion to all of the things you taught him to love and honor.

My Deepest and most heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of Sgt. Lester D. Baroncini.
The price this young hero and his family have paid for this country and for freedom, WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
There is so much thanks to be given, to these young heroes, for their Courage, Service and Dedication.

May Lester rest safely in God's Care and may God's Loving Comfort and Grace be with the Baroncini family.
I am the sister of such a young hero, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Vietnam, many years ago.

May you find strength in your faith,
Comfort in God's love,
Peace in knowing this country is praying for you.

"Wait on the Lord, be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart"
Psalm 27:14

To the family of
Sgt. Lester Baroncini,
Our son is in Iraq and was serving with your son. Our son is Sgt. Brad Davis. Brad made a saddle for Lester. He thought so much of Lester and spoke of him to us. Brad, as well as all the guys, are heartbroken over this.
As military parents, we grieve with you. You are in our thoughts and prayers at this time. We are so sorry. May God comfort and hold you. May He help you through this time.

October 20, 2006

To the Family of Sgt. Lester D. Baroncini:
If your child can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 as well and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for right now. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten . You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.
Proud Parents of SFC Brent A. Adams, KIA, 12/1/05, Ramadi, Iraq
