Dan, it has been many years since the news of that tragic day, 18 years past, but one I have never forgotten and think of you every time I look at the bracelet on my wrist worn for most of the 18. You made many days tolerable in Bucca when we all just wanted to be out of there. You made me laugh and even a little envious of the respect and the loyalty of your Soldiers had for you. As I write this, memories I had forgotten come back to a counterpart and brother who always had a calm head when everything turned upside down and always had his Soldiers first no matter the situation or events.
My thoughts at the news so long ago were not only for a lost brother and friend, but for the family, your wife and son. Today so many years later my thoughts other than the memories, are again for your wife and son who I pray to God have been the given the strength and guidance to persevere and have moved on with their lives the best they can as you watch over them.
A memory of the only photo I have of you tired as hell after shift, the sun already over a hundred at 0730 and you were irritated I wouldn't leave you alone so you could write your reports and go to bed, but still maintained with a smile.
Brother, you were a great Soldier, Senior NCO and friend, a husband and father who cared deeply as I recall from our talks. One day when all is done and done, I hope to meet up with you in a better place and have a cold beer together. Until then, God bless your family and you remain on my wrist and in my memories.

I had the honor of training Daniel as a warrior to start his military career. I am thankful for men like him who are willing to step up and be the next generation of warriors to keep America the light of freedom in the world. We did not keep in touch but I have read the entries here and I am confident that Daniel is a good man. I look forward to meeting him again and thanking him in person. My condolences to his family. I am thankful that I was able to be a small part of his life. I am sure he is in good company and good hands. Semper Fidelis and God Bless us all with the strength to endure and persevere as he did.

My name is Derrick Duncan. I was in Marine Recruit platoon 1065 which graduated in 1982 October 19. I find it odd as he lost his best friend Thanksgiving 1982. Robert Hillegast. I met up agian with Daniel in 1993 in the 107th when in Pgh. He was In Mile 3/10 as a Marine. Pround to say I knew him. As he chose to go in harms way.
I served in Beruit in 1983. BLT 2/6 22MAU 2ND MAR Div. Semper Fi.

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Brozovich Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Daniel, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers
Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever
Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away
Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go
We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light
Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray
Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

Please accept my deepest sympathy for your irreplaceable loss. My own son has served a tour in Iraq and Afghanistan. You have suffered what all of us with loved ones in the battle area have feared. My son and I are dirtbike riders. I saw the story about your son getting a new bike and needing someone to show him how to ride. I have been riding for over 30 years, and I would like to help. I am a member of the Western Reserve Motorcycle Club in Salem Ohio. We have 90 acres and 3 race tracks to ride on and I would be glad to take him riding. I live about an hour away from you.

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

I am sure your lose is great but in time the good memories will overshadow the grief you feel now. I look forward to the fulfillment of God's promise at Psalms 46:9.
I left my contact information so please feel free to contact me when you are up to it.

To the Brozovich Family:
My deepest sympathy goes out to your family at this time of sorrow. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
Dan was a childhood friend, and one I think of often. I don't have to many childhood memories that don't include Danny and David. Nights of playing release and Danny was always the last one out and the hero who released us. I always knew he would be someone special as an adult because he certainly was as a child. He always had a smile on his face and was someone you just loved to be around. My life is better for just knowing him.
Thank you for his service to protect our country so our children can have the carefree lives we did. God Bless.

Dear Brozovich family,
My son Chris considered Sgt Brozovich one of his heroes and is serving in Iraq with his unit. When my wife and I visited Fort Dix before their deployment he went out of his way to make us feel welcome and Chris who was just promoted to Sgt., feel important. You will never know how much that meant to us and our son. Thanks for you gracious response to this tragedy. Our prayers go with your whole family in this difficult time. Dave and Brenda Miller, Seven Valleys, PA.

Gloria, Tony, Barry & David,
I do not know the rest of Dan's family--his wife, son, stepdaughter and grandchildren. I lived across the street from Dan in all his growing childhood years. We were very close knit neighbors.
The past few days my heart has been heavy with Dan's death. I knew him as such an enthusiastic, funny,
loud, very active(sometimes wild!!) kid. I know that he gave everything his all then and continued to do so in his adult life.
I've had a few chuckles thinking of the quandaries that he and Dave got into at times.
So, even tho' I did not know Dan as the military man, he was a bright spot in my life.
I'm so proud of him for his incredible service to our country.
My heartfelt sympathy goes to you all. Remember the good things.

To Dan's family,
My sincere condolences for the loss of your son, husband, father, brother and friend. I am a friend of Dan (and Dave's) from High School in Bedford, PA. I have great memories and will cherish them. Dan was a fun person to be around and I'm sure he was a fantastic husband and father. I thank you for letting him do what he loved and serve his country. I thank you for this service and the fact that he did what he could do to keep us safe. The world was a better place because Dan was in it.

When I was reading the latest additions to Legacy, I caught the Greenville Pa address. I am sorry to hear of another casualty from Greenville. Our son, Sgt. Michael Marzano gave the ultimate sacrifice May 7th, 2005 and is resting in peace at St. Michael's cemetery. Please, please accept my condolences and know that Daniel will forever be known as a hero. There is no greater sacrifice than to lay down one's life for others. This walk of survivor is not easy, but be assured, there are many out here to help, because as Gold star families, we really do understand.

Sgt. 1st Class Daniel A Brozovich
you are my hero
may god keep you in his arms forever.
October 21, 2006
To the Family of Sgt. lst Class Daniel A. Brozovich:
If your child can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 as well and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for right now. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten . You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

My Deepest and most heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of Sgt. 1st Class Daniel A. Brozovich.
The price this Fine Soldier and his family have paid for this country and for freedom, WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
There is so much thanks to be given, to these young heroes, for their Courage, Service and Dedication.
May Daniel rest safely in God's Loving Care and may God's Comfort and Grace be with the Brozovich family.
I am the sister of such a young hero, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Vietnam, many years ago.
May you find Strength in your faith,
Comfort in God's love, and
Peace in knowing this country is praying for you.
"Wait on the Lord, be of good courage
and He shall strengthen your heart"
