Time has not numbed the pain of losing you. You are tattooed on my arm, on the bracelet on my wrist, and constantly in my thoughts. I will forever regret not being there with you. You were the one of the best examples of what our world could be. You will live forever because you will always be remembered. See you soon on Fiddlers Green.

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and to also let the McDonough Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one, Bryan T. McDonough US Army Specialist. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

To the family of Spc. Bryan T. McDonough:

As you may know, the Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation has honored your loved one at its Memorial Day Sunday worship service (each year in May) … since the time of your fallen hero's ultimate sacrifice. We will continue to pay tribute to our nation's veterans … lest we ever forget!

Now we would like to honor you … as the next-of-kin … who have also paid a great price on the altar of liberty. On Sunday 29 September at 11:00 a.m. we will host a Gold Star Family Sunday.

I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship … as we pay tribute to your sacrifice. Our pastor, U.S. Army Chaplain (Colonel-Retired) Kenneth L. Beale, Jr., will preach a message entitled, “By Dying, We Live.” The special music will be the husband/wife vocal/piano — Wickman Duo. Following the worship experience, your family is invited to attend a social time in our Fellowship Hall … with some light refreshments.

As this historic chapel has limited seating, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. To do so, kindly call (651/286-7296) and leave a voice message indicating your veterans' name and the number of persons attending. For more information about the Foundation or driving directions to the historic chapel at Fort Snelling, visit our website at: www.fortsnellingmcf.org

If you are not able to attend, we pray that you would find comfort in knowing that our prayers are with you and all of the fallen heroes.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Bryan, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Bryan, and the McDonough family, thank you for your service to this great nation. As a former Navy Petty Officer, and current mother of two young children whose father is currently "boots on the ground", I have the experience of seeing war from the servicemember's viewpoint, and the viewpoint of a spouse. All I can say, is your service is immeasurable, and I thank you so much for it. To Bryan's family, your strength as a family will keep the memory of Bryan alive and the memorial you have set up in his honor was an absolutely wonderful thing! Stay close, shed tears, but most of all laugh when recalling all the great memories you have of Bryan.

Bry,
I finally saw you in a dream during the early morning hours today. I can't figure out why it has taken so long. Maybe you've been there but I don't remember when I wake up. You were present in two separate dreams that I can remember now. I hope this is the start of many more. You are always on my mind while I am awake. I hope we have some serious conversations in our dreams.
Love,
Dad

Bryan, it has been a year today. How can that be? Even though you are not here, you have an amazing way of letting me know you are still around. I was cleaning out my desk and found your grad picture. I loved that. Instead of putting it with all the other grad pictures that I save, I left it in my desk, so I will have a visit again. You pop by all the time in my memory and my heart which I am so greatful for.

I went to Pearl Harbor yesterday. Out of respect, I read every single name of every soldier that served and died that day. I thought about every soldier and the lives they had ahead of them. I also thought about all their families and the effect that war has had over the generations...it is so very sad. I said a prayer, not just for the fallen soldiers but for all those returning home. The New life they have to build, some of the experiences that I could never relate to, how to package that up and move forward. I am so proud of you and all our soldiers. I love and miss you Bryan

I knew Bryan through friends and others back in high school. I didn't really hear anything about him until the the day I saw his name on the news. Pretty soon his name was everywhere that I looked around the city, everyone who knew him, and was praying for him and his family. I didn't know him well, I pretty much only knew him through what others spoke about him, and that was always nothing but good things. Bryan always seemed like an amazing guy, willing to do what needed to get done. And although I didn't know him as closely as others, I still thank God for people like Bryan, and how he is able to stand up for what he believes in and fight for us all.

Bryan, you are truely missed every day, by myself, and others close to me. I know you are being taken care of and are watching over all the people you care about... it's what you do. We all love you, and miss you and Thank you, with everything that we have, because this world is a better place from knowing you.

The article that your dad wrote in the newspaper and on your page was amazing. Your dad couldnt have explained you and your life better... I miss you still every single day, we are all learning to celebrate your life and to try to let go, none of us thought it would be this hard. I will never forget what you did for me and the rest of us. I love you with all my heart and that will never change. I am so happy that I was a part of your life and I got to be your friend. You are the most amazing person, man, brother, and son. I will never forget your smell and how it felt to hug you goodbye, although I would have squeezed you harder if I knew it was the last time. I love you !!!

Bryan, A year ago Yesterday was the last time I got to see you, hug you, and kiss you. When I dropped you off at the airport, I knew I did'nt want to let you go, it is so hard not having you home with us and knowing we will never see you again. I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU SO MUCH MOM

I was looking through the list of fallen soldiers from Minnesota when I came across your story. I want to personally say Thank You for serving your country. I wish I could only do something to ease your loved one's pain, anything. I pray all your loved one's find comfort in their faith. I also pray that you are at peace and shall forever live with Christ. God Bless you and your wonderful family. Brian Wagner

I didn't know you that well but it's safe to say we all grew up together. I just want to say thank you Bryan for giving the ultimate sacrifice. You are a true American Hero and you will never be forgotten.

August 15, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Bryan, your picture is on my computer every day. We think of you constantly. For some reason, I stopped and took an extra long look today and my tears started and I couldn't stop them. Sometimes it doesn't feel real, like you are still in Iraq. I'm not in denial, I'm just still sad. I wish I could see you again.

McD Family,

My family is sorry for your loss. Look around at the little things and you will see that Bryan is closer to you than may think. Your son's willingness and fortitude stands just as high and next to the others who have given us the gift of freedom. For that, we thank you for such a hero.

Darling Bryan, no day shall pass that I don't miss you and shed a tear and feel that wave of grief wash over me.Your being taken from us, so young, is so awful because you gave so much to all of us when you were with us. I am so grateful for all the times we had to speak on the computer and writing emails and such. I hope you always enjoyed the packages I sent to to and knew that my love was in each one. I am so grateful, also, that we spent some time together last September. It just didn't feel like it would be the last time in this world. I will always miss you and grieve for you ... You should be so proud of your family. They are the living heroes you left with us. We all love you so much.

To the Family: I hope you all know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. Our families share something that nobody should ever have to share. May you all find a little more peace and may your hearts heal a little more each day.

To Bryan: You are loved and may your journey be filled with the love you so greatly deserve. We never had the opportunity to meet and I am saddened by that, but I know that you and my brother are both shining upon us all and I get a little hope from that. Thank You.

“Soldier”
To Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

McDonough Family,
I just wanted you to know it still hurts to think what you and your family is still and will always be going through with your loss. My best friend died 3 years ago tomorrow and I still talk about her every day. It does not feel as if she is gone it feels like something is missing. Something BIG! If you were wondering if those memories will soon fade, don't because they become precious and dont seem to go away. God Bless Bryan and Kim will make sure he is OK I promise :) It is you that he worries about.
