Wear Blue Quantico Run 2018

December 31, 2018

On December 22, 2018 I ran in the Wear Blue Quantico to honor the fallen. This year, I ran for Private Bobby Mejia II.
We also ran for the Marines who lost their lives on December 6th in the training accident. We formed a circle and individually stated who we are running for. This year, we circled a second time so we could individually state each of the names of the Marines lost in the training accident. The parents and sister of Lt. Col. Kevin R. Herrmann attended the run. It was very emotional for us all. Needless to say, the spirit of actually running was difficult but I'm glad to have been part of it in honoring your family member.

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Mejia Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

I just want to thank everyone that has signed my big brother's guestbook. I cannot explain how much i appreciate all of you guys. Thank you so much for showing the support, and not a day goes by that i don't think of all of the soldiers who are still fighting in the middle east, and those who gave all (like my brother). It was really hard to get through these couple of years, but I know that he would want me to stay strong. It's crazy how it seems as if Dec. 23rd was yesterday. I can remember everything that happened that day. In fact, I was the one who answered the door. I had a bad feeling that day, and i had a flashback when I saw the two soldiers standing at my door. I actually had a dream two weeks before it happened. I dreamed that I was in school and I was crying while standing in the lunch line. I remember someone asking me what was wrong, and I told the person that my little brother died! I woke up out of the dream and I was terrified everyday. I was hoping that my big brother would call, because I knew it couldn't be my little brother. I felt that It was my big brother because he was in more danger, and he was in the war. I started to cry because I felt something bad was going to happen. Then, weeks went by and it was Dec. 21st, it was the night of my band concert, and I had the strangest feeling. I didn't know why but I felt like my big brother was in danger. There was no way for me to contact him. =[ (I found out after Dec. 23rd, that my brother tried to call, but he couldn't get through, and there were bad connections, in Iraq). He wanted to wish us a Merry Christmas, and let us know that he'll be home IN 10 DAYS! I was so upset because he was so close to coming home, and I told everyone that my brother was coming home for new years. Well he came home, but not the way I expected it. Even though I was deeply hurt I was still proud of him. He's not a hero because he was in the Army, or because he was my big brother, but because he was my role model. We we're really close and we told eachother everything. We were so close that we could tell if eachother was in danger. HE'S MY HERO AND I LOVE MY BIG BROTHER (X) SOOO MUCH! HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN AN INSPIRATION TO ME, THERE WERE MANY NIGHTS WHERE I USE TO WATCH HIM DRAW (BY THE WAY HE WANTED TO BE AN ANIMATOR....FOR JAPANESE ANIME...NOT AN ILLUSTRATOR) and well he would encourage me to find my talent. It turned out that I can really draw (not as good as him) but i could! We would always have fun together, along with our little brother. (We were always there for eachother).
My mom, little brother, and I were the only ones there for Bobby, and we've learned to live with that. =] It'll always be our little quartet (forever).

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Bobby, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Dear Mejia Family,
We did not know Bobby but we would like to express our deepest sympathy for the loss of your son. We thank your son and appreciate his sacrifice for our country. He is a true hero. Our son was a LCpl in the Marine Corp. He died over a year ago so we know first-hand how difficult your loss is. Our boys are now home with the Lord and even though we don't have them with us physically, we have wonderful memories. Cherish those memories. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Well I didnt really know Bobby that well and I'm terribly sorry for your loss. Me and him talked some on a website called myspace.com that is where we met. It hurts because he had told me that after he returned in Aug. he wanted to meet me and my baby which will have been just born. But now he wont be able too but now he already has met my baby and he probably has met my brother who is in heaven w/ him. He also served proudly, but he returned only to be killed in a motorcycle accident this past August. And i'm sure that they are friends now. my brother was stationed in Ft. Hood Texas. He was with the 4th infantry 1-10 Cav. he was a buffalo soldier.
Again I am so sorry for your loss and I hope everyone is doing the best they can be right now

Please know how deeply sorry I am, for the loss of Pvt. Bobby Mejia,
As a parent, who has lost a daughter suddenly,
and as a sister, who has lost a brother to war,
I am aware of the deep and devastating pain that you are experiencing.
The overwhelming heartache, seems to surface through our shock, as the time passes.
Please hang on to your Faith and know that you will get through this.
Ever so softly and slowly, time does heal.

May Bobby Rest Safely, in the Loving Care of God and know that he Will Never Be Forgotten.
I pray that the Peace of God will be Mejia family.
I am the sister, of such a Young Hero, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Vietnam, many years ago.

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee. Psalm 55:22

I lost an 18 year old daughter in a car crash in 1995.Seeing her sister serve in Iraq was one of the hardest things I did since then. You are all in my thoughts and prayers everyday.

December 28, 2006

To the Family of Pvt. Bobby Mejia:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.
