Hello,
We apologize for being so late in expressing our deepest condolences to you and your family. We want you to know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this holiday season and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Robert Rob Stanley US Army Staff Sergeant.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,

Dear Beloved Staff Sgt. Robert Stanley,
It has been a year since you were killed in action. It has been a very painful year and I think about the "Samarra Seven" each day of my life. Seven families were hit really hard on March 5, 2007. You were killed along with my son, Ryan Bell, Justin Estes, Justin Rollins, Andrew Perkins, Cory Kosters and Joshua Boyd.
I hope that wherever you Heroes are that you know you are very loved by Ryan Bell's mom.
I Love You.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers
Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever
Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away
Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go
We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light
Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray
Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

Dear Stanley,
I recently learned what happened to Robert, and I can’t begin to say how sorry I am. It hurts to imagine what you are going through. He was such a good person.
I never saw him after he joined the army, though I imagine it was something he was quite good at. To say that he was a hero would be an incredible understatement. After serving several tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, the word “hero” simply falls short.
It was a decade ago when I last saw him, yet I can still picture him there, at Shannon Airport, telling jokes and making people smile. I picture the boy just graduating high school, eager to join the army, full of laughter and wit. Everyone who knew him is better off for knowing him, and those who didn’t are better off for his service and sacrifice.
We simply owe Robert a debt that that we could never repay.
My deepest regrets,
Sandy Bonesteel

To Rob's family,
I am SSG Justin 'Dutch' Estes' mom. I, too, know the pain and heartache you are experiencing first hand. As I read about each young man killed that day, each one of them seemed to have the same dynamic personality - they could light up a room with their smile. I know how true that was of 'Dutch'. I pray every day that God will bless each and every one of you and that the memories of our fine soldiers will never fade. I will never forget all our sons, who sacrificed themselves that day. Heaven is truly a better place with them in it, but we will forever miss them here with us.
All my love,

Dear Family Members of Robert,
My brother, Sgt. Andrew Perkins, was killed with Robert that day. I just want to send my sincere condolences to you and let you know that you are not alone in how you feel. I am a mother of three and cannot imagine what it would be like to lose a child. I am sorry for you. It is a sad thing to continue life without our loved ones. Forever will I be grateful to Robert and the others that died that day. I will never again look at an American flag and not think of my brother and Robert and all of those that have lost their lives that day and throughout the entire war in Iraq. I will never forget. My prayers are with each of you. Sincerely.

To the family of Staff Sgt. Stanley
My son, Pfc. Cory Kosters, lost his life along with your son and four other brave soldiers on March 5, 2007.
SSgt. Stanley was Cory's squad leader and Cory spoke of him in his last email dated March 4, 2007. If you are interested, I would love to send you a copy of that email - it tells of how things were becoming more hostile in Iraq.
Cory was only 19, would have been 20 on June 16...as a matter-of-fact, the last time was saw Cory was on his 19th birthday.
Please know that our son loved what he did and did what he loved. Although he was young, he was allowed to participate in quite a few missions, especially as things heated up - and Cory loved every one of them! He never had anything but praise for his squad & platoon of brothers. He never regretted his decision to join the army, let alone to become a part of the 82nd Airborne. We, his family, supported Cory's decision as well as that of our President to stay and complete the mission.
It breaks my heart that on March 5, 2007, the 82nd Airborne, 2/505 PIR, Charlie Company took such a loss. I honestly can't imagine what Captain Ferris and the other soldiers in Iraq must be going through - not to mention all the friends & family members affected.
Here, in Texas, my Heavenly Father has poured His grace like rain upon us and we are hanging in there. I know that once we all begin receiving our soldier's items from Iraq that the pain will resurface once again. But I do believe that our God is merciful and loving and that there are things that we may never understand this side of heaven.
I pray that you have experienced first hand the peace of God. I also pray that maybe one day we will have the opportunity to meet one another.
I know that my Cory would want me to shake your hand and tell you that it was a pleasure and a privilege to walk beside and work with your son; a man he held in high regard.
May our Lord bless you and your family and give you peace of heart and mind.

I am an Airborne trooper! A PARATROOPER!
I jump by parachute from any plane in flight. I volunteered to do it, knowing well the hazards of my choice.
I serve in a mighty Airborne Force--famed for deeds in war--renowned for readiness in peace. It is my pledge to uphold its honor and prestige in all I am--in all I do.
I am an elite trooper--a sky trooper--a shock trooper--a spearhead trooper. I blaze the way to far-flung goals--behind, before, above the foe's front line.
I know that I may have to fight without support for days on end. Therefore, I keep mind and body always fit to do my part in any Airborne task. I am self-reliant and unafraid. I shoot true, and march fast and far. I fight hard and excel in every art and artifice of war.
I never fail a fellow trooper. I cherish as a sacred trust the lives of men with whom I serve. Leaders have my fullest loyalty, and those I lead never find me lacking.
I have pride in the Airborne! I never let it down!
Robert you will never be forgotten. Though I never met you, as a fellow division trooper there will always be a bond.
PARATROOPERS NEVER DIE...THEY JUST SLIP AWAY.

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.
