Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Neale Moran Shank US Army 1st Lieutenant.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,

Hey Neale. I remember how stoked you were to find out that my middle name was your first name. I just moved into a new place, and dug out some pics I haven't seen in years. Definitely brought back some good memories! I still tell people about the train incident at Prep School. I'm keeping you and your family in my prayers, so look after for us, 'til we meet up again. Miss you, bro.

Almost 6 years already, unbelievable. Many moons have passed since the days of the concrete walls of Camp Stryker but the old traditions still continue today. May you rest peacefully. We will instill the same values to our new soldiers as you passed them to us. "Climb to Glory... to the top!!"

I have struggled for so long with how to adequately express this loss. Neale was a very special person in my life in the year that he transferred to Fort Drum and during his deployment. We met by chance in Fort Wayne (thank you Jim), and I am forever grateful and proud to have become close to him. It was so exciting to hear how he faced his challenges head-on with managing his first platoon and preparing “his guys” for Iraq. His daily stories showed what a great leader he was and what he was capable of giving – to his men, to his country, to the people and family he loved. His dedication, integrity, and strength, in mind, body, and spirit, were incredible…and continue to be an inspiration to me to be a better person, someone he would have been proud to have by his side. I want his family and friends to know that Neale was loved by and touched yet another person’s soul and will continue to live on through memories and in our hearts every day.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Dear Jackie, Mike, Naomi and Luke,
We were shocked and saddened by Neale's death, but deeply gratified by the contributions he made to you his family, friends, and our country. Clearly, what you instilled in him "stuck," and he made a difference in many people's lives. It's also evident that the faith in God you nurtured was a driving force in his life as he sought out and worked to fulfill his mission. His faith in Christ was at the core of his being; it's easy to tell. There's no way to measure or describe the losses his death brings about, but we also believe that God will both bring you comfort and healing and bring about much good in the midst of all this. Know of our prayers, accept our condolences and remember the goodness and promises of God in Jesus. "Because I live, you shall live also." - Jesus Christ

We wish to express our condolences to the entire Shank family. We are very honored to have known Neale. Our son James was friends with Neale through Concordia Grade School and High School. Neale was a very special young man. His smile is something that we will always remember about him. He was a very dedicated young man to both the Military and to God. Know that he was in a place doing what he loved to do when God called him home. Have a peace in your hearts during this time of hardship knowing that he is in a special place with the Lord awaiting your arrival to reunite. Your family is in our prayers. God Bless Neale and your family.

I went all through High School with Neale and knew him well. I lost contact with him after graduation, but I was not suprised by his accomplishments. He always had a passion for serving his country, even back when he was a cadet in the JROTC. I always knew he would go on to be a great soldier and, as it were, officer. It is a sad day for those of us who knew and loved Neale and an equally sad day for the Armed Forces in Iraq. We lost a great man and a great soldier. Rest in Peace Neale. You will be missed and we thank you for your service, your passion, and your sacrifice for our nation.
