Cpl. Ryan Scott Michael Dallam, 24, died Friday in Baghdad along with two other soldiers, Dallam's father, Scott Dallam, said Monday. The federal Department of Defense had not identified Dallam as a war casualty as of Monday afternoon.
Ryan Dallam was born in Norman and lived for a time in Arizona, where he graduated in 2002 from Show Low High School. He later attended Oklahoma City Community College.
Dallam served in the Headquarters Company, 1st/18th Infantry, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division that was deployed to Iraq. He had been scheduled to return to Oklahoma next week on leave, his father said.

The flag is flying in the sky
A daily reminder of who and why
We sit here remembering them today
These heroes that now lie in their grave.
While here on earth, the bravest ones
A soldier, a mother, a daughter, a son
The father's who went far off to war
To ensure our safety and so much more
To keep our children happy and free,
Someone must do this job, you see
So, today remember the soldiers who served,
Because this is one thing they truly deserve.
The loved one's that they have left behind,
The Gold Star mothers, like your and mine
We honor them proudly, every day
Our American Soldier...Proud and Brave
By Shannon Williams-Austill
I want to thank this soldier for their sacrifice.
And, I wish to extend my deepest regards to the loved ones they have left behind. Their service to our nation, has not gone unnoticed. They are our heroes, who paid the ultimate price for us, and that is something that every American needs to be reminded of and remember everyday.
The freedom we all have, we have because of brave young men and women who made a choice to defend and serve.
Today, let me remember your loved one with you.

The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

That you are round about me, I believe”

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. “Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers
Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever
Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away
Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go
We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light
Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray
Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

We can't imagine what you have been going through since being notified of the death of your young Warrior. The Military and families all over the USA and world are grieving with you and praying for you. What a very brave individual you have in your family that would give up a life for their homeland and its people so they can remain free. Your Freedom Fighter has served the Country above and beyond the call of duty, let no one ever tell you different. With the mission now completed your Warrior has been redeployed to Heaven to sit on the right hand of the Supreme Commander and Chief. The Father above has Ryan in his arms and will give him peace as well as eventually easing your pain and suffering. God speed to you and SPC. Ryan S. Dallam, our HERO. We are so proud of them that are willing to sacrifice for this great Nation, THANK YOU.

I'm very sorry for the pain and grief you must feel at this moment. I'm also humbled by the courage and honor Ryan maintained as a solider who sacrificed his life that we may all stay free. Ryan, It feels just like yesterday when I meet you! You hung around with my cousin Tj.
He came down from Texas to see your mom yesterday and had to leave again. I am sure he will miss you alot! You were like a brother to him and all of us.
My words are at a lost this very moment! I remember the last time we all were together; you, Tj, me, and Clar. We ate out at Chili's, and we left without paying... which we all knew was bad! We all walk together out the door and started toward the car. Oh, we were all scared that the waiter was going to come after us... hahahaa And then we all started running to the car! hahahaa Oh, we all laughed like there was no tomarrow.
Oh, Ryan, my friend, for such short time we have known each other you were welcomed (more like adopted) into our family. Our family, The Blackwater's, Tsosie's, Teasyatoh's, and Yazzie family will truely miss your sweet, brave, and honored presence in our house.
May you rest in peace. To the family of my dearest friend, Ryan S. Dallam. Our hearts, tears and prayers go out to you all.
Always and forever Ryan's extended family, The Blackwater's, Teasyatoh's, Tsosie, and Yazzie family.

Scott, Leslie and family. Ryan's service today was beautiful. It was comforting to see the outpouring of love to you and to Ryan by the great crowd of people in attendance and comforting to see the bikers standing so long outside the church building out of respect and holding the American flags. The specialness of it all could not be dampened by the few protesters, whose right to protest was because of the sacrifice given by Ryan and so many others.
May God comfort you in the days ahead and hold you in His arms.

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

Ryan gave himself unselfishly for his country. He is a hero in the eyes of all who have served, are serving, or will serve in the future.
Not knowing Ryan personally, I still feel compelled to offer this condolence to his family: Even though the pain must be immense, rejoice in knowing the Ryan died doing what he felt he was supposed to do. He knew the sacrifices he would have to make. He understood the danger, yet he unselfishly did it anyway. Rejoice in knowing that your Ryan lived a life without regrets. That he accomplished many things and that one day, you will be reunited with him. Until then, the pain will be immense. But when times are down, look at his picture and smile. Your son is a hero.

He "frequently volunteered for night missions because nobody else wanted them – they were too dangerous."
How much that says about your son, and our loss for not having him back home. How much it says for the standards we must live up to and how much harder that will be without him. I hope we, the living, can carry forward something worthwhile from so great a treasure that your family instilled in your son.

Cpl. Ryan Scott Michael Dallam -
My thoughts are with the Dallam family and friends at this time. Please know that Cpl. Dallam is one of America's - and Oklahoma's finest. I, too, have a son in Iraq right now. I pray for all the soldiers every single day. My family knows the heartbreak you feel. My uncle, my mother's brother, died in Vietnam August 25, 1966. He is not forgotten to this day. I know that Cpl. Dallam will not be forgotten either. Please accept my families heartfelt prayers. Signed, Vickie

To the Dallam Family,
My daughter is a student of Mr. Dallam's and we want you to know how saddened we are for the loss of your son and brother Ryan. I cannot imagine the pain you are going through right now, but just to let you know you are in our thoughts and prayers. My husband has been overseas twice now and just receiving notice of maybe another tour next year. Know Ryan is our HERO and we thank him dearly for everything he did to help keep our country free. I am sorry to say we never met Ryan, but being a solider I know he was a true leader with a loving heart. God bless the soliders and their families.

You are in our prayers and thoughts. What great memories we have of riding bikes with Ryan when he and Aaron were younger - always great fun. We are so glad he was a part of our lives. We salute Ryan and honor his service to our country. May God bless you and hold you tightly in His sweet peace.

My heartfelt condolences to the family. Having been a soldier for 20 years myself, I am always saddened when we lose another brother or sister. As soldiers, we are family, and we all feel your grief as if it were our own. Just know that we are all with you at this time. God Bless.
