I drive down 8-00 from time to time & i always look for LCPL Danny Sherry's sign on the side of the road. It brings back memories from when i was a little Boy & my cousin was killed in Vietnam. I think of their sacrifice, & my cousins service inspired me to join the Marine Corps. I look for Danny's sign & as i'm driving i always give him a salute & thank him for his service & sacrifice. You're an American Hero Danny. Semper Fi.

Members of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, PA would like to honor your son’s sacrifice and memory by sending our prayers and comfort through a shawl which we will mail to you. If you are interested, please contact me at [email protected] with the names and addresses and what they would like to receive. We will send them as soon as possible. Also, if you know of any other families who are grieving the loss of a loved one who died serving our country, please pass along my e-mail address, as our organization can no longer get family contacts through the military. Dear Mr and Mrs Scherry, Kacie, and Lauren,
What a wonderful young man was your son and brother! How you must miss him still. We of Prayer Shawls for Fallen Soldiers would be honored if we can send any of you in Danny's family a prayer shawl. It is a very small way for us to honor him and show you our gratitude for his and your ultimate sacrifice. If we can send any of you a prayer shawl in Danny's honor, please contact me with your address. We probably sent you a card last year, but did not get a response. So, I am trying again in this manner. If you are interested in one or more shawls, please don't hesitate to contact me. Thank you and God Bless you.

Maryanne and Family,
I was given your name from the Cleveland USO office. I met these wonderful people last week. One of the women there said I reminded them of you. My son, Danny, was killed in Iraq too. She told me the first year anniversary was very recent and I just wanted you to know that so many others feel your pain. It has been 2-1/2 years for me and there isn't one single day goes by where I don't miss my son very much. It does help to know that I will see my son again one day. If you would ever want to join us, we have just started a brand new Gold Star Mothers Group for Northeast Ohio. Contact me if you'd like information. We'd love to have you. God Bless you and your family.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

Please contact me and I will email you back a copy of an

I did not know Daniel, but I am remembering on
this day he gave his all.
He is my hero.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I don’t know any words that could begin to come close to offering any kind of peace to you. I found your sons memorial on the internet while doing research for out Haz-Mat Team. Once I saw it, I played it again, and again, and again. Then I called the rest of the guys in to see it as well. I am only 24, and can tell you the last time I cried was when I was 17 at my Grandfathers funeral. I can not think of anything to say to you. I wish I were closer, so that I could come over there and hug you all. My hart goes out to you, and I pray that God will keep you, and all your family safe and close. I can only say that when my time comes, and I go up to Heaven to, and see God face to face, that I will look for Danny and hug him as well. Even though we were miles apart, even though we have never met, even though we never played against each other in High School sports, maybe, just maybe we will become friends and walk together.

Always, and most effectually yours,

Danny:
I still cant belive that you are gone, you have done and taught me sooo much over the past four years that my life has been better for knowing you. I will never forget going out to lunch with you everyday and every weekend going out to eat and ending up at Raymond's house. I will always cherish our walks home freshman year and listening to your theories of how Tupac is still alive. Those were great times, I knew that if I ever needed you I could count on you to be there in a second. The times that you came to visit Toledo were some of the best times and I will never forget the last time you came up, I was more than happy to see you. You were my protector and that is what you always will be. Thanks for everything that you have done for me and your country. You were what every American child should be: strong and loyal. Our friendship is something that I will always cherish until we meet again.

My family takes this as a very personal loss because we know that your son believed in commitment to country, family, friends, peoplekind. He represented leadership and dignity and freedom and for such a young person, such unselfishness for himself. It truly seems that your son's memory will never leave our community. He was well-liked by so many who paid their respects. He is a hero. We pray for your family. Thank you for allowing the community to reach out. We hope there will be a more permanent representation of Danny's heroism and leadership so that others will find encouragement to be true to oneself. We will all miss Danny.

“Paid in Full”
To Honor The Service of Fallen and Injured Marines

Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full

We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward

What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our hearts we will cherish your lives

Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the Few, the Proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us

They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of lives that were lost for people unknown

Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

It was amazing to see all of the signs and the outpouring of well-deserved respect for your son and your family on Saturday. May he never be forgotten for all that he stood for. You obviously raised a wonderful son and he must have loved you very much. Our prayers to you always.

I am a new resident to Rocky River but live near the cemetery where Daniel is buried. I was overcome with the outpouring of support of the community on Saturday and say prayers everytime I pass your son's final resting place. I cannot imagine your sacrafice and sorrow. I can only say I am sorry and hope that the mothers who grieve with you in silent prayer can help you through this terrible time. Your son was a hero and a person who gave his life for our freedom - you don't have to know him to be grateful for that. I noted on Saturday after the funeral was complete that the sun came out and stayed out the rest of the day. I cried thinking, maybe he is happy he is home and can rest. I know it brings you know comfort - how could it? But the thoughts and prayers of many strangers, like myself, are with you and your family and your son. God Bless.

The OLA community has sadly lost another one of its young angels. I'll remember Danny as a little kid riding his bike and cruising Five Points with his buddies. I'll remember a quiet yet intense young man. Kacie and Lauren, I know how special brothers are. Loosing them is is so very, very difficult. It's a unique kind of grief and the two of you will be in my prayers in a special way. A loving neighborhood mourns with the Scherry and LaSalvia families. God bless Danny and please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you now and always.

From time to time, we get lost in the hustle and bustle of our daily
lives. With out taking time to stop, pause and think about those rare individuals who are voluntarily giving up the comforts that modern American life provides for us, to keep insuring are freedom for years to come. These brave young men and women are truly heroes.

I know that I cannot begin to comprehend the sadness his family is
sharing. My fondest hope is that you are keeping your heads high and
your hearts full of pride.

God bless Daniel Scherry- and the country he loved.

I remember the nights before Danny left for Boot Camp, he wouldn't take off Bobby's MARPAT Field Jacket, he was so excited to earn the title "Marine." He couldn't wait, questions about Boot Camp flowed like water and he listened as we all shared stories of our military careers. Your a Brother, Danny. I cherish the time I was able to spend with you.

I'm sorry I can't be there. I love you, Brother...till' we drink again, my friend...
