I was with North when he died. I was his medic and lost my leg in the blast that took his live. During the deployment we shared stories and traded books. He was smart and professional. He had good judgement and was a superb driver. I am fortunate to have know him and have named my son Christopher in his honor.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Christopher, but I am remembering on
this day he gave his all.
He is my hero.

Sincerely,

To the parents of Christopher M. North,
When I get the oppotunity to come home to Sarasota, Fl I always visit my Grandfather's grave to spend time with my military hero...and to remember the "old times". This XMAS 2007, I made it back home for the first holiday in three years and noticed a young soldier buried beside my grandfather. When I took a second glance at the stone with Christopher's name on it I had trouble holding back my emotions. He is your son and hero, but also a brother in arms to all that serve. I pray for each of Christopher's family and friends as they celebrate his life. Thank you for allowing him to support and defend the freedom we all cherish.

To Christopher M. North,
I know why you served becasue I believe in the same. You serve under a flag that has stood for freedom and provides hope to all citizens of the United States. You are a hero and a brave young man...please tell my grandfather, Dominick Roberti, that I love him.

God bless,
Robert Magee, Capt, USAF

Parents should never have to bury their children...yet sometimes we do. I am Cynthia Townsdin's mom,and I knew Chris and his family in Sarasota. I received the call when Cynthia found out, my heart stopped for a moment as her husband Ed,was stationed overseas at the time..he is home now, safe and sound, and this Thanksgiving as we sit down to count our blessings, we will also thank God for allowing us the honor of knowing Chris and his family..until there are no more wars. God Bless and keep Chris' family.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Mark, my heart goes out to you and your family. I am also so sad that our families didn't stay close like we should have. I now have a son and can truly empathazie with the immense love (impossible to explain) a parent has for their child. I only remember the one picture I have of Christopher when he was probably 7 or 8 years old dressed in a powder blue suit with blonde curls. I have thought of you often and will continue to do so.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

My deepest condolences to the North family. My son is serving in the same squadron as Christopher. He didn't mention names when he called me to say they'd lost some men, but he was deeply affected by this and it broke my heart. I've been thinking about the families of these brave soldiers since the day he called, before I even knew their names. I pray for healing in your hearts as you cope with Christopher's loss. May he always be remembered for his heroism and love of country along with the special memories you have of him from his youth. God bless you all.

To the North and Riedler families,

I am at a loss for words to describe my sympathies to you all for the loss of Chris. I attended Concordia Lutheran school with him when we were in grade school. He was a kindred spirit then and I'm sure was/is one now. I was looking forward to his homecoming so that I could catch up with him and see the young man he had grown up to be...but I will not dwell on the past but revel in it. He is my friend, will always remain my friend, and one of the greatest heroes of my life.

To Chris: You are gone in body, but never in spirit. I will cherish your smile and laughter like you had when you were a little boy. And look forward to the day that I see you again and the man you have become.

I remember Chris from the days when he and my grandson Mike Rizzo were acolytes at the Lutheran church. He was a fine young man. My prayers are with all the family as they mourn this loss.

For God and Country we served. We all come home, for some to a better resting place. Chris is with our Holy Father and all the brave men who went before. My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of this brave young man.And from one soldier to another, thank you Chris for doing your country proud. A part of all of us went with him.

I am so proud of Chris for his willingness to serve his country. Our memories now extend from the little boy who used to spend the night at our house to a true hero of our country. Your family's sacrifice is beyond my comprehension but you will be in our thoughts and prayers each day. May God's peace and comfort be ever present in your hearts.
