Although it has been almost seven months since someone added a message here, I want everyone to know that Pete is remembered. I went through EOD school with him in 2005, and without him I may have not made it through. Of the many friends I have lost during the last several years, he is the first I think about on Memorial, Veterans, and many other days during the course of the year. Please remember Pete and all the other fallen warriors from the GWOT.

Dear Woodall family, I just learned today of your loss. I want to express my condolences to all of you as I have lost an old friend too. Pete was there with me from boot camp all the way to our first platoon in 3rd LAR, 29 palms. We were roommates at our first duty station as well. We knew each other well during my four years at 29 palms. I know pete loved being a marine, a father and a friend to many. Pete loved his yellow mustang as I remember he spent many weekends driving or working on it. Pete was always there for me when I needed him as a friend or as a marine. I have many good memories of times we spent together in the Marines and I am glad to have known him.

The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Peter, but I am remembering on
this day he gave his all.
He is my hero.

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I met Piotr, Asia, and Jacob when my husband, Billy, was stationed at Eglin AFB, FL in 2005. They were in EOD school together that summer, and we frequently got together to grill out, have a few beers, and just hang out. I don't think that I have ever met a nicer person, nor have I ever seen someone so proud to be a Marine. We always had so much fun when we got together! There was never a dull moment with Pete, his sidekick Joey, and Billy around!
That summer I babysat for Jacob while Asia worked, and my daughter and he had the best times playing. In remembering the look in Jacob’s eyes when his father would pick him up it breaks my heart knowing that he won’t get to grow up knowing Pete. I just hope that he is told every day how funny, strong, caring, and wonderful his father was.
Asia, I really wish that I had been able to make the trip to stay with ya’ll the summer of ’06 while Billy was in Iraq. I never imagined that it could be the last time I would see Pete. I will always remember his smile and laugh, and the way it was so contagious to everyone else around him, how he could grill some awesome Polish sausage (!!), and how much he loved his family. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to have known him. Pete is a TRUE AMERICAN HERO, and will always be in my thoughts and my heart.
God bless you Piotr.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

To the family and friends of Peter Woodall: I just returned from Washington DC where I visited my son’s grave site at Arlington National Cemetery. Russell J. Verdugo (EOD team leader) was KIA 5/23/05 in Baghdad.
I have been corresponding with Natasha of the 8th ESB, EOD CO; Unit 73710 in Iraq. She gave me Peter’s name so I could look him up at ANC. I found his recent grave site took photos and emailed and snail mailed them to his unit in Iraq. I also talked to Peter and thanked him, but told him we all miss him so much.
I am so sorry for your loss. Peter and William J. Callahan, join all the fallen heroes that make our nation great. It is a privilege to have them buried in Section 60 with my son.
May God’s Holy Spirit grant you peace and comfort as you continue to grieve.

I've known Pete since he moved down to FL. He was a fiercly loyal friend, and always had a plan for the future. He wanted to be a Marine. I used to give him gruff about it,said he should have joined the Army, but he knew what he was doing. It is with the deepest sadness that I ask the family and friends of Sgt. Peter Woodall to accept the humble offer of my most sincere and heart felt condolences. I hope that you know that your loss is shared by all of the members of the EOD family but more especially by those of the Marine Corps EOD family. Even those who have gone before, the ones you don’t know and in all probability will never meet. We sincerely appreciate the sacrifices of Peter, his family and friends.
Peter is a true American hero. He is not hero because of where he died or how he died. He is a hero because even though he knew the dangers involved in the performance of his duty he continued to do it. His duty was to locate, disarm and dispose of IED’s and other explosive ordnance. This is an extremely hazardous undertaking and Peter knew that, he had done this before but it was his duty. He was a Marine and Marines do their duty. Peter had lost friends and comrades performing this duty. This is what makes Peter Woodall a true American hero. Peter is a hero that I respect, admire and hold in the highest regard.
I never had the honor of meeting Peter, I had retired from the Marine Corps EOD program before he was born, but I knew him. I knew him because Peter was a Marine Corps Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician. They are indeed a special breed among a special breed. THE MARINES! It would have been a tremendous honor for me to have had the opportunity to serve with Peter.
His name will go on the EOD Memorial at Eglin AFB. There it will join the names of all of the EOD technicians who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. His name will always be there for all the visitors to the memorial to see and honor. It will also alert those who follow in his footsteps to the dangers inherit in their chosen profession
I know the pain his parents feel with the loss of their son. I lost a son 19 years ago. It is a pain that defies description. It is a pain that never goes away. It is a pain that will never end. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Hold tight to your memories of Peter and to each other in the difficult days ahead. Please remember that all Americans but more especially the Marine Corps and Marine Corps EOD Families share you grief.
May God Bless and keep you, Today, Tomorrow and Always!
Your tour of duty is complete.
You did your duty with great honor and dedication.
Peter I hope you rest in the Peace you fought and died for!

I finally started getting in touch with some old friends from the TSA days, and heard from Wes that I had just missed Pete before he went back for his 2nd tour. There was so much I wanted to catch up on with him as he now has a wife and child, and I had hoped to hear all the great things that he has going for him, and to just get in touch again. I didn't get that chance. I can honestly say that there hasn't been one single day that has gone by where i haven't thought of him in the time we were out of touch. He was the kind of person that was loving and had the utmost respect for family and friends. I got a note informing me of his passing and it just really puts things in perspective. Life is too short and we must truly enjoy it to the fullest, be there for our loved ones, and not get caught up in trivial nonsense. Pete was a man that had the respect of many and would put others first in a second. I sat at my desk today and began to cry-mixed tears because I am so very sad but at the same time I was reminiscing on some good memories.
I remember how dedicated Pete always was to his friends, family, and his desire for the Marines. I was looking back on all the things I tend to keep since i'm a pack rat, and I found some old letters from him. Back in 2001 he wrote me about how the M.C.I. had a list of things to send him to in order for him to be promoted and in it he wrote:
"(and my fav.) land mine warfare demolitions and breeching."
It's bittersweet because he is no longer with us physically, he died doing what he loved....I will never forget you, I'm proud of you and all of the others that are serving our country, and I was so very lucky and blessed to have known such a hero and wonderful human being. I pray that your wife, son, family, and friends can get through this unbearable time. You will be in my heart always.

Dear Asia and Jacob
Your husband and father was a very brave man. My deepest sympathy for your loss, no words can ease the pain. Remember you are not alone in your grief. Pete was a good friend to my son Justin. Nothing can ease the loss but Petes sacrifice for his country and friends will never be forgotten. May God bless and be with you always.

“Paid in Full”
To Honor The Service of Fallen and Injured Marines
Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full
We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward
What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our hearts we will cherish your lives
Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the Few, the Proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us
They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of lives that were lost for people unknown
Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

My son, Michael C. Lewis, is a Navy corpsman and is serving at this time with 2nd EOD Company in Ramadi. He deployed in Feb. from Camp Lejeune and knew Pete. I talked to him on Monday and he was broken-hearted, as am I.
I recently set up an "Adopt-A-Soldier" for the guys serving with my son. My sister had recently "adopted" Pete as her soldier to write to and send care packages to during his deployment. I can't tell you how deeply saddened we are by your loss.
Words aren't adequate to express my sorrow, but I pray that you are comforted by knowing that your son/husband/father/brother is being remembered as a selfless and courageous man.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers. May you feel God's presence and peace in your time of grief. My heart goes out to you all.
This is the scripture I gave my son the day he left...may you be comforted by it.
"The Lord is my Light and my Salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life: whom shall I dread?" Psalm 27:1

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

Dear Woodall family, I am deeply sorrowed by the loss of Sgt Woodall. I am an EOD Tech at Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune and we frequently co-train with 2d MLG EOD. Sgt Woodall was one of my favorite "new guys" in the EOD field. Smart, sharp looking and very motivated. Everyone viewed him as a quickly rising star in the EOD field. His actions in Iraq will always be viewed as heroic and his memory will never be forgotten. My prayers are with his family during this time of grief. Rest in peace Peter, Semper Fi, Top Mac

I ask for your prayers for my son Spc.Crockett Butler as we pray for all our men and women serving in the military. Crockett is serving as honor guard at this time. He tells me that it is without question the most important and honorable service he has ever preformed in his life. He joins me in our sorrow for your loss.
