GULLETT, PFC Zachary R. 20, serving in the 984th MP Company of Ft. Carson, Colorado, stationed in Ad Diwaniyah, Iraq, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on July 3, 1986 the son of Alan Michael and Connie (Helterbrand) Gullett, I. He was a 2004 graduate of Hillsboro High School, where he participated in Marching Band, Drama, and Symphonic Choir. He was a member of the Military Police Regimental Association. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence (Gene) Helterbrand, George and Betty Gullett, sister, April Lyn Gullett, uncles, Thomas Gullett, Gary Kimmel, and cousin, David Collins. He is survived by his parents, Mike and Connie Gullett of Hillsboro, maternal grandmother, Eleanor Helterbrand of Hillsboro, brothers and sister-in-law, Benjamin Gullett of Hillsboro, Alan Michael & Tammy Gullett, II of Beavercreek, niece, April Gullett, nephew, Alan Michael Gullett, III, aunts and uncles, Linda and Jim Collins, Debbie Kimmel, Joette and Daryl Wilson, all of Miamisburg, Larry & Shelly Gullett of New Hampshire, Jeff and Shelby Gullett of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, Debbie Gullett of Minford, Ohio, Janet and Ledman Wright of Columbus, Ohio, Judy and Jim Hedrick of Wheelersburg, and a host of cousins and friends. Funeral Services with full Military Rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 11, 2007 at the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church, 8080 State Route 124, Hillsboro, OH, where friends may call Thursday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Services arranged by Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro Family requests memorials to PFC Zachary R. Zach, talk to your mom today, seems we have something in common. My PFC Katie Soenksen and you shared a ride home from Iraq. It was nice to know your uncle and my sister had someone to lean on during the flight. You two were peas in a pod, always thinking of others first. You both did us proud in Iraq and understood the bigger picture. Thanks for your great gift, and know we will never for you. MA Soenksen, Goldstar mom.

I just wanted to let connie,ben and zach's dad all know that they are in my prayers.Zach was one of my best friends and i will really miss him. he always had a special presence about him and he made everyone laugh.He's a real hero in my book.....A good soldier,a great person and a better friend

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

My heartfelt sympathy to the Gullett family in the loss of Zachary. I did not know Zachary, but my heart is broken and I am saddened for your loss of such a fine young person and hero. May God bring you peace in your heart as you reflect on all the wonderful memories you hold so close. Please know that you are in my heart and prayers. My heart was touched by the many wonderful/beautiful things written about you. Zachary you are my hero and you will NEVER be forgotten.
