Justin Daniel Wisniewski, age 22 years, was loved by everyone who knew him. Born on December 11, 1984, Justin made a lasting impression on anyone who was lucky enough to meet him. He is remembered as always putting other people first. Justin was a soldier at heart, and made it official in 2004 when he joined the US Army. He was proud to fight for the United States and for his family and friends. On May
19, 2007 he made the ultimate sacrifice and passed through the gates
of Heaven to greet
his cousin Mark Niernberg and grandfathers, Patrick Wisniewski and Chester Kozlowski. He left behind a lot of people who grieve for their loss but are so proud of their soldier and their hero.
Among these people are his parents, Daniel and Cheryl Wisniewski, and his siblings: Jason Wisniewski, Jessica Wisniewski and Jodi (along with Eric and Hunter) Trombley. Also left behind were grandmothers, Beulah Kozlowski and Olga Wisniewski (and friend, George Tardif), aunts and uncles, Don and Sandra Niernberg and Chet and Kathy Kozlowski; cousins, Tina and Cary Hutchinson (along with Olivia and Haley), Bob and Melissa Niernberg (along with Hayden and Hudson), Bill and Michelle Niernberg (along with Lena, Graham and Raina), and Chris and Tanya Niernberg (along with Isabel and Nicholas). Extended family include his girlfriend, Beth Wenkel, and good friends: Sean Thorpe, Michael Stawowy, Andrew Dunn, Matthew Bonnau, Brandon Dickhausen and many, many others.
Justin was always able to put a smile on everyone's face. He lived every day of his 22 years as full as possible. If he wanted to do something, he never put it off until tomorrow. Justin never wanted much, just to raise his family in a log house on the east side of Standish. He did not like anyone to make a big deal over him or to fuss, but he is just going to have to deal with it this time. If he did not want anyone to grieve for him, then he should not have been such a great son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, boyfriend or friend. But the truth is, he was the best and he was our hero in more ways than one.
Justin, we will all miss you forever and longer. God must have had a plan when he took you away, but we will never understand it. We cannot understand it. but we can honor you like the hero you are. Good bye, until we meet again. And you make sure you are listening, because we are going to have a lot to tell you until we can hold you in our arms again.
Visitation for Justin will be on Saturday, May 26, 2007 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the R.O. Savage Funeral Chapel in Standish and on Sunday, May 27, 2007 from 2:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church in Standish, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service. Rite of Christian burial will be on Monday, May 28, 2007 at the Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Justin will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service. Father James M. Fitzpatrick will be officiating the service, with burial in the Pine River Cemetery in Standish
with full military honors. Memorials according to wishes of the family.

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and to also let the Wisniewski Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

Always in our thoughts. The month of May gets harder as the years pass. I still remember being your lane safety, keeping you in pace with the line as you shot your target while approaching it. I was thoroughly impressed with the caliber of Soldier you were Ski. You emptied 7 magazines so fast. I thought to myself "there's no way this shot group is gonna look pretty." Once we reached your target, there were no holes at all outside of that circle. By far the best shot I've ever seen. Loved it on the gunline. You cracked me up everytime you'd roll by, always shouting something funny. Everyone knew you were back. It's sad that you had to leave us but you're in a better place now Ski.

I am so sorry for the loss of your son, Justin Daniel. Our son, Justin Mark, was a volunteer firefighter. I was looking up his name on google when I came across Justin Daniel's info. Justin sounds like he was a wonderful young man. You were so right when you said that no parent should have to go through this. My thoughts are with you.

I went to basic training with Wis, Dunn, and Bonnau we all ended up at Ft. Drum together, Wis and I were assigned to 2/15 FAR. I remember Wis used to come over to my room and cook venison on my roommates George Foreman grill, he was a good cook! We deployed to Iraq the first time once we arrived we were separated he went to Alpha I went to Bravo. Three years ago today my platoon had a joint mission with his platoon and I will never forget what happened that day. When I saw the explosion from our blocking position first person that came to mind was Wis and prayed to God he was ok unfortunately my prayers were too late and I’m sorry I could not have done more to help Wis come home alive. I will never forget Wis he was a good guy and a great leader!

Little brother, I still miss you every single day... I was just thinking about the time we chased that darn beaver (the Unidentified Running Object - URO) through the hay field, when it turned on us and ran after us... We were kids and we ran away... Then you grew up, and you became a man that didn't back down. You faced far worse than most of us can ever imagine, no longer that kid scared of the unknown, but a man who fought for what he believed in. I don't pretend to understand why this happened, but I do know that I am so proud of you and I love you and miss you so much. Forever and always, my brother and my hero...

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Justin, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers
Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever
Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away
Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go
We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light
Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray
Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Death comes upon many silently, without warning nor fanfare. Justin, you stepped up to face it head on knowing your heart was leading you. Love of humankind drove you on to that hero's departure. Your bravery will always be an inspiration to all. I watched on TV as your procession went through that small town so close to the one I grew up and went to school in, Pinconning. There was no need to restrain the tears here in my own safe home. Thank you and the others who protect that freedom; the freedom to be safe in our own homes. From hearts that don't know you, only of your bravery, we give our love and we thank you. To your family we give our prayers of joyful memories and precious love of family and friends to carry you through the sorrow.

I only had chance encounters with Ski through my brother, Justin's brother in arms. My brother (Donald Vance -- Crazy Don) is serving in Iraq with the 2/15 and this was his second tour of duty with Justin. He talked about him all the time. I'll never understand the connection between these soldiers who serve so bravely together but as a sister of a man serving this country my heart aches deeper than I ever knew possible for the lose of this incredibly wonderful man. When my sister-in-law told me the unit had lost a soldier my first thought was please don't let it be Ski because I knew how much my brother loved him. Ski always seemed to be around when I talked to my brother when they were on base in NY, I'll miss hearing his laugh in the background. I send my deepest sympathy to his family and hold them up to God in prayer. Please know that he will never be forgotten and that he was deeply loved, even by those who had never had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with him. God Bless your family and bring you peace in your hearts.

The sacrifices Justin made will never be forgotten. His memory will linger on in the smiles and eyes of those he left behind.
As I stood along Cedar St. holding 2 flags in one hand and my 3 year old great nieces hand in the other, I felt such a surge of pride and emotion as he passed by. I will make every effort to be certain that as my great niece grows up she will know the sacrifice Justin made not just for his country but for all of us.

I did not know Justin. But i was among the many who lined the street in support of this brave young mans family, and our country , he is in the hands of God now . And in the hearts of many . My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and others who still have loved ones in harms way . I still have a nephew there. He knew Justin , and assures me, he is watching over his family always .

Father we entrust our brother Justin to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold Justin in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My deepest sympathy.

Memorial Day
[ More than just a day off work ]
M-is for the memory we have of those who put their lives on the line to give us the freedom and privilege of living in this blessed nation...
E-is for the enduring gratitude we have for the sacrifices these men and women make for those who stayed at home...
M- is for the merit we recognize in those who serve our nation when such service comes at such a high price...
O- is for the obedience we honor when those in uniform follow orders that may, and many times do cost them their lives...
R - is for the reverence we give to the thoughts we have on this day, or any day, when we remember those who give so much...
I - is for the integrity we salute when those in uniform stand up for all of us even when some of us do not stand up for them...
A - is for the allegiance we have to the nation that these brave warriors fight and die for...
L - is for the love that goes with those who are in harms way,and who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for you and me...
THANKS JUSTIN..

My deepest sympathy to you in your time of loss. Our great God is caring for Justin now and God will be your greatest source of strength. I did not know Justin but I feel as though he is a part of my family as my father grew up in Standish and I visited Standish many times in my childhood.
Please take the hand of God for comfort for God is reaching out for you.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there... I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow...
I am the diamond glints on snow...
I am the sunlight on ripened grain...
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you waken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of gentle birds in circling flight...
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry-
I am not there... I did not die...

Dan, Cheryl, Jason, Jessica, Jodi, and extended family members, My heart aches for you for the loss of Justin. I did not know him, but he is our "hometown hero" and I will never forget him. Like Mayor Kevin King said, Memorial Day will take on a whole new meaning. I know it will for me. Keep Justin's memories alive to help get through the hard times. If there is anything I can do.....Trudy Bernhardt
