Joshua Romero Obituary
Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel of Fort Worth. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Joshua was born June 20, 1987. He proudly served in the United States Army. Joshua was assigned to the Bravo Company 1st Battalion 12 CAV 1st Cavalry Division. He was a soldier dedicated to his country and his family. His awards and decorations include: the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
Joshua is a hero to those he served with and all of us he leaves behind.
He was a loving father, husband, son, brother and friend to many. Joshua will be remembered and missed.
Survivors: Wife, Michelle Romero; son, Joshua David Romero; parents, Joe Romero and Kimberlee Cummings; siblings, J Romero, Ryan Haggard, Nathan Haggard, Chyna Romero and Andrew Haggard; extended-family members and friends.

We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Joshua G. Romero US Army Specialist.

The program includes, a DVD Pictorial Memorial Tribute, Music, Candle lighting, Balloon Release, and Refreshments. Each family receives a personalized ornament to place on a Christmas tree as a remembrance of their loved one.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

I do not personnally know you or Joshua. I may have seen him about town, at Wal-mart or met you in the produce section of the grocery. Our lives may or may not have touched physically...but we have a connection. My son is currently serving in Iraq.

God called one so full of life home for his new home needed more life added to it and how nice it is now that Joshua has joined it. Keep Joshua's memory alive, walk each day with the sun surrounding you with his warmth and love for each of you whether it be in from the rays of the sun or a drop of rain from the cloud, know that it is Joshua letting you know he is with you no matter where you maybe. We used to live across the street from jay, joshua, and chynna a long time ago...we are terribly sorry for the loss of a good kid. He always made us laugh.

Josh, My lil (but way taller than me) nephew, We grew up together, played together, ate together, laughed together, got in trouble together. It was always US together!! It is with the deepest sadness that I ask the family and friends of this brave young Soldier to accept the offer of my most sincere and heart felt condolences. I hope that you know that your loss is shared and mourned by millions of Americans. Most of whom you don’t know and in all probability will never meet. We sincerely appreciate the sacrifices made by your patriot.
Freedom is not free; it is paid for by our heroes, and for those who fight for it, Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know! This soldier made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

I know the pain parents feel when they loose a child. I lost a son 19 years ago. It is a pain that defies description. It is a pain that never goes away. It is a pain that will never end. It is a pain that is all consuming.

As this war goes on it pains me to sign another fallen soldier's page. My son SPC Harry (Buck) Winkler was killed on November 12, 2006, I know all too well the pain the parents are going through. He was very brave and i respect him with all my heart. He was a cousin i didnt see much, but when i did he always had a smile, always gave hugs, very loving. For the Family of Joshua Romero,
We are strangers to each other.
I am a member of a Family which had many individuals who were able to serve in almost every branch of the Military: Army, Navy, Air Force, Sea Bees, Reserves--- from way back when until the present. Plus during the Viet Nam era, my family of origin and I were close friends with of two Mothers with one son each and a third young woman whose husband served in the Marines , also.
Partly because of my Family's history of Military Service and especially due to our support of our friends during their experiences during their family member serving during the Viet Nam War, I was recently writing a letter of appreciation for our Troops via "A Million Thanks..." for National Military Appreciation Month, when I learned about Joshua.
Although I did not know you or Joshua earlier, I wanted to write to let you know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
Joshua was a brave young man. He like two of our nephews/(cousins), friends, and neighbors elected to serve our Wonderful Country--- the United States of America--- for all of our Freedoms.
He will not be forgotten.
I hope that these messages (and thoughts and prayers) of many may be of some help to each of you at this time and as time passes.
