Hello,
We apologize for being so late in expressing our deepest condolences to you and your family. We want you to know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this holiday season and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Joseph John Anzack Jr. US Army Corporal.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,

I was fortunate enough to know Joe. His sister and his father. His mother and I have shared so many experiences together. I just ran across this tribute and how wonderful it is. Joe you will never be forgotten. How unfortunate that we have had to sacrifice you and all the rest. If there is any comfort in it at all. I think it can be found on these pages. I remember when they brought the news that dreadful day. We gathered at your Dad's. We prayed, laughed and cried. A reporter told me later that it was just not us but a whole nation that suffered. And he was right. Things have never been the same. RIP my friend. Your Mom is fantastic. She carried us through those days. And she still does now. I miss you and I miss her. We still see each other from time to time. Peace Bro. And Thank you for your service. Until we meet again.

Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

I deeply regret that I did not know Pfc. Joseph J. Anzack, but I wish to join his family and friends in grieving over his passing and to honor him for the wonderful man he has become. I wish there were words to express what I feel as I write this (yes, with tears in my eyes). I can say that I feel that every one of our soldiers is truly the son or daughter of all Americans. I am so proud of all of them and will never forget what they have done. I do know that I will be forever indebted to Joseph for giving himself and his life to preserve freedom in this world for those of us remaining. I will be praying for Joseph's family and friends from now on. If any of you have a tough day, please email me if you need someone to talk it over with or to pray with you or to simply ask for extra prayer for you. I encourage those of you who know Joseph to spend your time remembering the joyful moments and special times you have had with Joseph during his lifetime. When you miss him close your eyes and you will see him in living color, see his smile, feel his hug, hear his laughter as if it were happening now. Joseph, we will never forget you. Thank you for all you accomplished to make this world a better place. We will look forward to joining you in our due time in that "better place" where you now are safe and away from any further harm. I will look forward to getting to know you there. Until then, rest in peace, son.

The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

So deeply sorry for your loss. I think of your family all the time, and prayed so hard for your son. I lay awake at night worrying when he was missing, as I am sure many Americans did. My brother Lt. “Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers
Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever
Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away
Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go
We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light
Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray
Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

To the family and friends of Pfc. Joe Anzack,
Itoo, like numerous other Americans were praying for the safe return of all three soldiers, which of course included your son. We, like so many others, share your pain. The losses of human life continue to grow as the fight against terrorism will not end any time soon. My husband and I know your loss, we too lost a son in February 2007,LCPL Brandon Van Parys. Sometimes, I am not sure what to say, mostly because I understand first hand that words seem to be fruitless at a time of such horrific loss. The loss of a child is brutal and I do believe that it is a loss that you never get over, rather you learn to live with it. Time eases the intensity of the pain, but does not remove it. It has been our experience to not fight it, but to take each day as it comes and draw upon the strength of those who sincerely want to help.
As it's been stated before, your son is now a nation's hero. He gave the ultimate sacrifice and he will be remembered by a nation for generations to come. And although that might not ease your suffering now, it may give you a sense of pride in knowing that you raised a son who saw service to his country and selflessness as characteristics to be honored. Pardon me for saying so, but you raised a Godly young man.
God Bless you and yours, Tammy Van Parys ("VP's" Step mom)

My condolences to you and your family on the loss of your son Joe Jr.
When I first heard the name on the radio as I was traveling, my heart stopped. My last name is spelled Antczak, and pronounced Anzak. It is obvious that our names are spelled differently, but pronounced the same. Could there be any connection between your family and mine? My grandparents John and Louise are buried in Forrest Lawn, they died in the 1950's. They settled in Salt Lake City area and raised 8 children. My father John being the oldest. Again my prayers are with you.
Thank you for your time.

My very deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Joseph. I may not have had the privilege of meeting him personally but Joseph's courage and service to protect the citizens of the United States makes him very special to me. The American soldier is our greatest hero, not only throughout history but also for our future.
His honor, his valor, and his ultimate sacrifice will NEVER be forgotten by the American people.
Because of brave men like Joseph, we can live with the fervent hope that our grandchildren and their own children will also be able to live in democracy. We will keep Joesph forever in our hearts and lift him and your family up each night in our prayers. As a parent, my heart aches for your sadness, and I hope the memories of loved times with Joesph will bring you comfort. As a very proud citizen of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA, I hold Joseph in my heart as a son of America and know that America is VERY PROUD to call Joseph one of her own. Heaven holds a very revered place of honor for your soldier. My very deepest sympathy, Debra Cappel and family

It's difficult to find the right words to express our sympathy to your family and friends, and our respect and gratitude to a brave and inspirational young man. Joseph Anzack has set an example for us all; through his compassion, bravery and sacrifice he has brought a sense of humility and community to the city of Torrance, and entire South Bay, that we have not seen for a long time. Please take comfort in the knowledge that although much too brief, his life held great meaning. He will be remembered, and appreciated, by our nation and especially so by the South Bay.

To the Anzack Family:
Your story touched my heart when I saw Joseph's father on Good Morning America talking about how much he loved his wonderful son. I cryed that morning after hearing the story and I prayed that Joseph would be found alive and unharmed. I was very upset to hear the news that he had been killed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Joseph is a hero and his memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him or knew of him. My condolences to Joseph's family. I can only pray that time will heal your sorrow.

"It's been a good life! I throw my sins at the devil and send my soul to God. If by chance, you wish to remember me, scratch a cat, pet a dog, smile at a child, laugh with a friend. Thank the Lord each morning for the new day. Always try to respect the opinions and dignity of others. Keep your dreams. Find a way to honor and serve your country. Marry for love. If you do any of these things, I shall live on." Anonymous

I was heartbroken to hear that the missing soldier was Joseph Anzack. I had just recently read on the Daily Breeze website about the false report that he had already perished and I was so happy to hear it had been reported in error. I just couldn't believe it was the same person again, but sadly this time it was true. My deepest condolences to the Anzack family and thank you, Joseph, for your ultimate sacrifice to our country. You are a hero and will never be forgetten.
