Thomas McFall Obituary

SSG THOMAS MICHAEL MC FALL Tom was born in Pomona, California on April 14, 1971. He died while serving our country in Iraq on Memorial Day, May 28, 2007. Tom's duty stations included Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Camp Grieves, Korea; Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; two tours at Fort Lewis, Washington and a tour in Afghanistan. Tommy was husband to Emily Herron McFall, a proud dad to Austin, Elizabeth and Matthew. His parents are April and Charles Lemesh and Thomas and Sherry McFall. A brother to Kathleen and Matthew Parker, Daryl Lemesh, Darin Lemesh, James Misenheimer, Kerri Misenheimer and Tonya Landeros. Uncle to ten nieces and nephews. Tom will be remembered for his love of hosting barbecues for his soldiers and even taking over barbecues at other peoples houses. He was the king of ribs. He always had a story to tell you, and sometimes they would take forever, but you listened because he had that kind of hold on you, you wanted to know how it ended. He shared his love of beer and classic rock with the younger joes. He just had a special pull about him. He would go into a bar, bathroom, store, anywhere and someone would start talking to him like they knew him. He could always put a positive spin on anything. He made me and a lot of other people better just by knowing him. He would have been in the Army for 13 years this October. When many soldiers got out he would say, "it's the easiest job in the world." He loved the brotherhood, and his heart beat red, white, and blue..there was only one exit for him. So in our time of sorrow, don't shed a tear, just lift up a beer for Tommy and turn up the classic rock and remember what Tommy loved to say most: "Let's Eat!". Keep us and his fellow brothers and sisters that are still over there in your prayers. Come home safe guys - Tommy's still got your back. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, June 7, 2007 from 5pm to 9pm at Miller-Jones Mortuary in Moreno Valley. Funeral services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, staging area #7 on Friday, June 8, 2007 at 11:15am. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Fisher House.

Tommy was my baby boy. He wanted to be a soldier when was about 10 years old. He fulfilled that promise to himself by joining the Army. We couldn't have been prouder of him. He met the love of his life,Emily, at Fort Bragg where they were both stationed. They eventually married and had three wonderful children. They were assigned to Fort Lewis from which Tommy was deployed first to Afghanistan. He was then deployed to Iraq where he lost his life and changed our family forever. Love to you in Heaven, xoxo.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

To: April, Charlie, Emily, Katie, his babies, and all the rest of Tommy's loving family. I was deeply saddened to hear the news about Tommy. My thoughts are with you and your family. April I remember when you first told me Tommy was entering the Military. You were happy for him, but you were still a concerned mother. Now look at the type of man, father, brother, husband, son, you ended up with. Pretty good huh. I know you are going to miss Tommy, but with the type of family you guys are. Each of your strengths will carry the other one through. I would like to end with a Thank You to Thomas McFall for paying the ultimate price, so that I may be free. Thank you for watching over me then, and thank you for watching over me know.
April and Charlie may God ease your sadness.

I do not know your soldier, but I grieve for your family. As the wife of a career soldier, I feel as though all soldiers and their families are a part of my family as well. May God be with you in this terribly difficult time. Having lost a child of my own, (though not to war,) I understand the incredible pain you are feeling. Although my pain is not the same, I do know the heartache. Please know you are not alone in your pain. We all feel for you and wish this had never happened to your family.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To Pat Lemesh and the lovely family of SSG Thomas M. McFall -

I never had the pleasure of personally knowing this gentleman but I do have the pleasure of knowing his lovely Step-Mom, Pat Lemesh. In addition, my family and I love our troops and pray for their safety, comfort and victory constantly.

Our deepest and most heart-felt sympathy goes out to his bride and children; his Mom and dad, his brothers and the friends who will miss him. Our prayers for them are on-going. May the Lord grant to you all of the resources you need, now and always; and comfort you in this great time of sadness.

SSG McFall IS a hero. Thank God in Heaven for his life; that he was there to protect, serve and save so many in such a great time of need.

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

My name is Dawn Foster and I am the aunt of Kenneth Deaner. Kenneth e-mailed yesterday morning about the tragic death of Tom. He told me how close the two of them were while you all were stationed in Hawaii. According to Kenneth, Tom was a wonderful husband, father, son and friend.

It sounds like Tom loved life and lived it to the fullest. I know that the people that he came in contact with will never forget him.

Through the love, laughter, and kindness that Tom gave so generously he will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those whose lives he touched.

Although I didn't know Tom personally, I am thankful for the bravery and sacrifice he gave his country as do all soldiers and their families back home. Tom will forever be an American Hero.

You and your family will continue to be in my prayers.

God bless and comfort you-
Dawn Foster

The price this Brave Soldier and his family have paid for this country and for freedom, Will Never Be Forgotten.
There is so much thanks to be given, to these young heroes, for their Courage, Dedication and Service.

May Thomas rest safely in God's Care and may God's Loving Grace Bless the McFall family.
I am the sister of such a young hero, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Vietnam, many years ago.

Know in your heart that you are a true hero and will never be forgotten. All gave some, some gave all. Rest in peace. You will be missed by everyone’s life you have touched.

To the family, as the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life’s routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family, friends, and all Americans for the sacrifice of one of your family members for our freedom. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May you find comfort in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father.
