My Dearest Son,
Mother's Day was Sunday, I remember when you called Jamie for Mother's Day.
She was laying on my couch and you all were talking. That is the last day we got to talk to you. Now you are in our Heavens looking down at us, and watching over all of us. God had something better in store for you, and even though you are missed and loved he knew what he was doing. I love you Juan, and you will always be my favorite son in law, my one and only.
You were such a blessing in our lives.
Spent the weekend with Jamie and Andre,
and all we did was think of all the fun times you all had as a family. You are loved and always will be. They miss you, just like I miss you. Just continue to look out for them, me, and everyone you impacted while you were with us. Love you my sone.
Your second Mom,
Birdie

So that horrible day is upon us again. I live that day over and over in my mind. Its not the way I like to remember you but unfortunately it was the last time I saw you. I miss you brother very much. I wish I could be speaking to you in person instead of writing in a legacy book. I still plan to bring your Sky to visit you. She and everyone else here miss you so very much. Rest in Peace brother...I love you!

Juan, just wishing you were here I sure do miss you so very much. Jamie and Andre miss you very much also, I know that you are watching over them. Andre is growing like a weed, and I know that you see Jamie and her lonliness, please keep them safe Juan, you gave your life for our freedom you will always be our hero. Watch over your Mom, sisters and brothers too. Keep them safe, I know there is such a big void in their lives because you are not with them, but I know you are with them in spirit. I love you Juan, my Perfect Son in law, I thank God for having had the pleasure of having you in my life.
Love,

I have to agree with Noemi or mimi here. Thanks for keeping him alive in your thoughts and hearts. There are a few dates I would like you to keep close. May 14th 2007 @ 1400, one of the worst days of my life. This is the day that Juan and 3 other of my soldiers were severely injuried and SPC Hartge died at the scene. June 1st 2007 @ 1157, this is the very sad day that Juan passed. November 28th 1979, This is the day that Juan was born and then after touched so many lives. But I also request you continue to remember him everyday in the things that you do. Im sure if you knew him or was close to him, in someway he changed or touched your life.

Hey bro, So the day you left us is coming shortly. Even though it has been years it feels like just yesterday we were hanging out together! I miss you bro. Just letting you know I have been looking out for Jamie and Andre just as I know you would have Mendy and the girls if it was me! We have had our issues but because you meant so much to me and they meant so much to me, the bond can never be broken. They are moving away from me soon, back to TX. Andre already told me he would miss me. I hate that they are leaving, I like to be here and close to her if she and Andre need anything. I dont believe in heaven and stuff like that as you know, but I do believe in some type of spirit or guardian Angel and I know you will be looking after them. I will continue to do what I can do though, and hopefully never lose contact. I will need your help in that! Love you bro and really miss you!!!

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Juan, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

God Walked on Sand, In Holy Land,
Left His footprints Upon this Sand.
All In A Row, So You would Know
He'd carry You and Help You Grow.

Corpus Christi Also Has Sand
We Know It As Padre Island.
Our Boys Found Joy & Lots of Love,
Absorbing God's Love From Above.

Four Years Ago, All Our Boys Went
Off To Iraq, They All Were Sent.
The Sand They Walked On Looked So Bland;
Blood, Bombs, & Bones Were In this Sand.
Conclusion: It's All The same Sand, But It's All Different Sand.

Words that came to me when my son was serving in Afghanistan & Iraq, and is still in the Reserve.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Noemi & Campos Family:
There are no words that can comfort you and your family in the loss of your beloved brother, son, husband, and uncle, but from the bottom of my heart I want you to know that I am truly sorry for your loss. He was a truly an American hero. It is because of the risks & sacrifices that young men like Juan have taken that we can live our lives without fear. I cannot image what it is to live in a country where you cannot express your opinion or political views without being prosecuted. Perhaps every American needs unite in pray for the welfare of each of our soldiers. You know that I value you as a friend and if there is anything I can ever do for you--all you need to do is ask.

I think of you often
and make no outward show,
But what it means to lose you,
no one will ever know
You wished no one farewell,
not even said good-bye,
You were gone before I knew it,
and only God knows why.
You are not forgotten
nor will you ever be,
As long as life and memories last,
I will remember thee.
To some you may be forgotten,
to others a part of the past,
But to me who loved you dearly,
your memories will always last.
Nothing can be more beautiful
than the memories I have of you.
To me, you were someone special,
God must have thought so too!
If tears could build a staircase
and memories a lane,
I would walk all the way to Heaven,
and bring you back again.

Funny how the words just don't come that easy....... My dear friend Noemi and her family have suffered such a loss, a loss that is unbareable & unforgetable. I saw in the last few weeks the strength that the Campos family had. What an awesome family. I never met Juan, but I know Mimi and her immediate family well. She has shown great strength through all of this. Death is so difficult to deal with, never knowing what to say or how to act..... I watched as family and friends came over the last few days, with such love and such admiration for Juan. My prayers are with his mother, Mrs Campos..... as she tries so hard to deal with her sons passing. May the Good Lord give her all the strength she needs to keep her family going. My prayers are with Mimi also, as she seems to be the one whom everyone else comes to for everything... such a beautiful and caring person. I love you much my friend..... Guerra

Noemi and Campos Family
It is very hard to find consolation and relief of the terrible pain you have. Words can not heal the pain, anger, and all the mixed emotions that come from this pain. A loss is exactly that, A LOSS. God and time is the only healing there is and the memory of your loss and the good memories he left behind will never
be forgotten. You go thru the years of life with that emptyness and pain. Your pain and tears are always there, but remember him and the good times, this is what he would want. I pray that all the prayers you receive will help you.
Noemi, trust in God, He takes care of all of us. Juan, continues living thru you and the family.
Know that if you need me, even just to talk or e-mail, I am here.
I have gone thru alot of losses.
Luv you
Betty

To the family, I now have a name and know what each of you as a family are going through. So many questions, so many unanswered, so much understanding of what Juan chose to do in life. As a mother of a fallen soldier SPC Harry (Buck) Winkler III, I truly have gone through all of this pain and grief. You will have good days and bad days. Remember to put down in words for his children the type of man he was. How he was as a child and just how proud you were of him. I know that I was so tired of people telling me how sorry they were for the death of Buck and that doesn't get easier but we do go on. If you can find in your heart to remember those that are still in Iraq and who have had to bury so many of their friends and yet still have to fight this war. Pray for them and their safe return. I know that I prayed for Buck's safe return home everyday and this was his second tour. God did bring him home only to his Heavenly Home free of pain and suffering of the war and what he had seen and done. So He answered my prayers just didn't give me my home but His eternal home so that we too will one day rejoice in being with him again. That's were Juan is at Home at peace and he'd want you to be at peace too. If I can help you emotionally please contact me when and if you are ready. May God bless you with His grace, understanding and comfort at this most fraigle time in your lives. Mother of another fallen soldier.

I share in your grieving of the loss of Juan. I went this past Saturday to honor another fallen hero who died the same day. His name was Spc. Jared Crouch who had been there only five weeks. He was 21. I had seen this young man grow up and knew how much he loved his country. His brother John is also serving in Iraq and will be returning in a week. I missed out on knowing another fine young man by never meeting Juan but I know in my heart though that he was a great man who loved his family, his country and his God. May he rest in peace. I pray that God will give you comfort and help you through this time of sorrow.
Thank you Juan for everything.

Please accept my condolences during your time of need. I knew Juan back in jr high at Brown and again at Rowe. I heard about your loss a couple of days ago, my mother called and informed me. I also serve in the U.S. Army and am stationed at Fort Benning, GA along with my husband. No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. If it wasn't for my daughter then I, too would be fighting in Iraq. I'm proud to have known your son and to call him a fellow brother. May God watch over him and your entire family while you mourn your loss and celebrate his life.

Campos family it was a privilege to have met Juan in middle school. I met Juan and his sister Noemi through my cousin at Brown Middle school. He was a nice person with everyone he knew. Noemi I am so sorry to hear the loss of your brother. Thank you Juan for fighting for our country and freedom. May God bless and give strength for the entire Campos family in this time of grieving.

My heart, prayers, and thoughts goes to you and the Campos Family. I remember you Juan we went to school together at Brown Middle School several years back and I never thought I would have to see a classmate life’s shutter to an end. You will always remain in our hearts and the rest of the U.S. soldiers whom have left families behind. You are our “American Hero,” will always be missed and I thank the families for taking the initiative of supporting their soldiers through this long sorrow journey. While a soldier can never be replaced, Juan will always be remembered for taking the courage and achievements accomplished in his/her life. Thank you and all the U.S. Soldiers for our Freedom I acknowledge all this men and women whom have enlisted in the Military Branches. We are also living a mix of emotions as my sister Kristie serves the U.S Army and stationed in Iraq until December. May God Bless You and the Campos Family.
