I would just like to say that im honored to have men like SPC. ERIC PLAMER be brave enuff to serve our country and stay faithful to death.I cant even began to understand how hard it would be as a mother to let her little baby go into harms way,but i guess i would be a proud mother knowing that my son would sacrifice his life to pretect our country
i give all my love to soldiers and pray that no more suffer.

Eric was a good friend of mine. We met in basic training and continued our friendship while stationed in NC. He was well liked and respected among his peers. I will forever remember this friend and hero. My prayers and condolences go out to his family.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Eric, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Eeker was my hero and the one I looked up to the most. Not only was he part of my family but he was and still is my HERO. He will always be. You will greatly be missed Eeker. I love u and miss you, but your story and ur spirit live through me. Miss you eeker and love you tons.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Dena, John and Travis,
I am just lost for words, it just doens't seem real. I keep thinking about the talks we had Dena about him coming home. I am very proud to have known eeker and get the hug at christmas time when he was back,he gives great hugs too, he looked so good. I know he was ready to come home and be with you all again. I can say we all have an amazing guardian angel watching over all of us and America. Dena, John and Travis we are here for you always anything you need at all. You know Dena we talked about doing a welcome home for him when he was done over there but i never thought i or we would have to do this kind of a homecoming. It never even crossed my mind. I just knew he was going to be ok. I am so sad that we have lost an amazing person and true american hero and amazing soldier. I will tell you we were so blessed to get to escort him to his final resting place and carry the Army flag. I know i had to keep my head up because eeker would have told me too.. That will forever be in my heart and mind. I am so glad to have known eeker all those years. You and John have done a wonderful job with both the boys. I am also so proud of travis he too is an amazing person. I pray that God holds you all in his arms and gives you comfort in knowing that eeker will alway be right there for you all. God Bless the Palmer Family and there American Hero Eeker!! My you rest in peace Eric. We will see you again someday. Keep a place for me.

Wow, I just found out about this and what a tragedy. Eric was a true hero to all he knew... Lifes not always fair and things dont always go the way we want them too. I feel for the Palmer Family in my deepest regards. Your son was a great person that many people only wish to be. It takes a very special person to gear up and do the things he did. He shows this Country and most importantly his fellow peers what dedication and courage truly is. Eric buddy you are a hero in my eyes and I thank you for all that you did. To Cpl. Eric C Palmer- you may rest now, you have served your time in hell. May God welcome you home with open arms. " When you go home, tell them of us and say, for their tomorrow, we gave our today." Ever since iv'e joined the Army, i have idealized the paratroopers, and so i am on my way to becoming one. People come up to me and say, "Thank you for your service, you are a true american hero," and i don't want to be mean so i say thank you. Cpl. Palmer, you are the True American Hero, not me. You and all the brothers that have laid their lives down. No one can understand the bond of soldiers, and why we fight, we few, we happy few, we band of brothers. The line has held, your mission is complete, and i will pick up where you have left off. God bless you and your wonderful family. Rest easy my brother and watch over your family and your brothers in arms.

I can't explain how much it means to me to have been close friends with a true hero. Erics beautiful mind and outlook on life lifted me so many times. I appreciate my life and every day and moment even more because he taught me to embrace each moment and always take it in. I do that every chance that i get now. Every single time I think about him the same image of him and his grin and high pitched laugh comes to mind. Every single time. Happiest person in this world. And to know he had all of us in heart and were fighting for what we have to day just moves my soul. This is the first time I've ever felt that I have a guardian angel adn it is the most comfort one can imagine. He is with us in every single moment. Eric C Palmer, a hero.

I never considered myself a lucky person until this week! I got the chance to be with one of the greatest guys in the world! Eric Palmer wasnt just my first love he was my best friend! We grew together, we learned together and I'm sure we got in way to much trouble together! But seeing everyones reaction these past couple days has made me realize I got the chance to be part of someones life who means a lot to everyone! There was no one else out there more willing to fight for his country than Eek was and I get the privilage of sayin I knew him..I kissed him...I loved him!! My life is better because of Eric Charles Palmer and I know for a fact I'm not the only one that can say that! So you know even though he may not be with us anymore I can still say my life is perfect because he was a part of it and still is and always will be!! I love you Eek...RIP!

Dena and John,
Many tears have been shed and your Eric has been laid to rest in a beautiful ceremony. I pray for God to wrap his loving arms around you in the coming days and years. I know in the Army they take pride watching each others back. I hope you find some comfort in knowing that now, Eric is watching the Palmer families back. He is your Angel. Dena you and John have done a teriffic job raising (2) Great young men. We are proud to be a part of your family. I am so glad we had the chance to spend time with the boys while they were growing up. Travis was the athlete and Brett had the pleasure of playing baseball with him. Eric had that constant smile that just drew our girls (Heather and Nicole) to him. We will never forget the sacrifice Eric made. What a a great young man he turned out to be. I know both of you are very proud. I hope those beautiful grand babies can help ease some of your pain in the coming years. We love you guys. God Bless you all.

You were such a great neighbor. You always said that you are not a hero, but in my eyes you gave your life so that we could live ours and that makes you my biggest hero. Eric Palmer Family;
I remember Eric when he was a childhood friend of my son, Ryan Collette. The fun and mischief they would get into.Eric was always a great kid to have around. We have moved to Florida and Ryan goes to school at K.U. and called today to say what a very emotional service it was, but how awesome it was with all the service men and friends that were present. It is so sad that 3 of his friends from school have left us so early. Who knew that we needed so many angels watching over us.
Despite the silence from Eric's loss, his heart and soul will live on forever inside you.
Bless you and your family,
John, Becca & Ryan Collette

Eric,
It is July 2, at 1:35pm. The Patroit Guard (God Bless Them) is escorting you across town as you take your final ride with your family, and I am sitting at my desk listening to my radio with tears streaming down my face. They have dedicated several songs to you and the rest of our HEROES in the last few minutes: 'Go Rest High On That Mountain', 'God Bless The USA', 'American Soldier'. Music says so much, but nothing could ever say enough for what you have given, Eric. I think of you, and can't help but think of my own son. He shares your birthday and will be starting Maize High this year as well. He has thought of joining the military after high school too. I can only imagine what your family is going through. Just know my prayers are with them.
God Bless you for choosing one of the noblest of professions, and most of all for making the ultimate sacrifice for me, for my son, and for 300,000,000 other strangers, so we may all live free.

I was so saddened to hear of the loss of you soldier. I too know the pain you are going through. My step dad SSG David Berry was killed in Iraq on Feb. 22 2007 and not a day goes by that we don't think of him, miss him, and cry! I know how much it means to have so many people send their condolences and tell you that your soldier was a true HERO, and it is SO TRUE. However, I also know that all the heart felt thoughts don't help to ease your pain. I pray that you will be comforted by the Lord and all the friends and family you have. I pray that you will find peace that passes all understanding. Know that there are people all over the country who share your pain and will be there for you if you need anything. You have joined a "family" that none of us chose to be in but love you and know EXACTLY how you feel, even though we've never met. Sometimes it helps to talk to someone who knows and who has been there. Please feel free to contact us. We would have never made it without another family who had lost their brother in November. God bless you and your family. Rest in peace Eric, and thank you for your service.

I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

My son Tanner called us from FOB Summerall on Monday to tell us he'd lost his buddy "Palmer". He was on the mission with him, right across the street when it happened.
My heart aches for all of you and I pray that Eric is in God's loving arms right now. We met Eric at Fort Bragg last year. He drew the tatoo that Tanner has on his upper arm. He had e-mailed Tanner in May when he was home for R&R to tell him "don't worry, Harmon, I'm holding down the fort for you". Can you believe what heros our guys are?
Like you, we have an Army and a Navy son, and we live each day praying for their safety.
I pray for you a peace that passes understanding as you wait until you can see your smiling son again in Heaven.

When I heard a soldier from Maize was killed my heart sank. An overwelming feeling of sorrow and pain rushed back into my mind. It has been 4 months since my little brother was killed in Iraq. It doesn't get any easier, but the pain will dull with time. I'm sorry for your loss. May God be with you. (brother of spc. Chad Marsh)

To the family of Eric, my grief for the loss of you son is felt. I know what it's like to loose your child in war as my son was killed in action too. It feels that your heart has been ripped from you and you don't understand why this happened to your child. I've felt all you will feel in the coming days and weeks and though I’m not close in relation to area, but I am very close by email. I offer any support to you and your family that I can. It's with the Grace of God that I've gotten through each day and with His healing love and comfort that I've been able to once again sleep at night and not cry each day. Believe me I do know how hard it is. May God continue to heal you and your family and contact me when and if you are ever ready, even if it's to vent or cry. In memory of my son SPC Harry (Buck) Winkler III KIA 11/12/06 Samarra, Iraq with the 2-505th PIR 82nd Airborne Div

Hero's often die without the realization that they were ever indeed heroes. It becomes our duty as the "Living" to insure their legacy is permantly etched in this facade we call life. Eric not only has everlasting life with God, he remains eternally imprinted in our hearts and minds. May God envelope your family and friends in His loving arms.

To the Palmer family
I offer my sincere condolences on the loss of your soldier. You can be proud that this young man dared to do what less than one half of one percent of Americans are willing to do, put on the uniform and stand in harms way. May his memory be eternal.

I had the privaledge of knowing Eric Palmer for 4 years as his teacher at Maize High School. Eric's compassion, sense of humor truly made the classroom a memorable experience. Eric had a smile that would light up a room, and he often helped me find humor in the little things in life. Eric always spoke of serving his country, and I admired his committment to serving his country. We lost not only a great soldier, but a truly wonderful person. The Hamilton's send our deepest sympathies to the Palmer family.
