Dustin and I spent yesterday thinking about Stacy and talking about all our great and funny memories. Steven is still missed but as time passes it takes the edge off the pain and leaves behind the warm memories of what made him who he was. I hope that Stevens family's wounds have started to heal and that their all finding a little peace.

To the Family of Steven Stacy:

I want you to know that there is and always will be continued support from your 3/1 Lima Co. family. There is not a day that goes by when I don't think about Stacy.

Dana, you raised an amazing man. There will never be another one like him to walk this earth. He is irreplaceable. I know that my life is better for having known a man like him, and for being able to hold on to the memories I have of him.

Crystal and the rest of the family, you are all strong amazing people. I see a lot of Steven in each one of you.

I can only hope that your pain eases in time. Hold close to the memories you have, the good, the bad and the ugly. Steve will never really be gone as long as he's remembered. He walks beside you every day.

To Stacy,
You will forever be missed. Dustin and I will never forget the times that we were blessed to share with you. I only wish that I hadn't taken life for granted and told you how special of a person you were when I had the chance. I will always appreciate my last moments with you and treasure your act of kindness to me. You are a memorable person and an amazing human being. I hope you find peace and happiness in heaven looking down on your loved ones.

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

If Tears Could Build A Stairway

If tears could build a stairway
And memories were a lane
We would walk right up to Heaven
And bring you back again

No farewell words were spoken
No time to say goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
And only God knows why

Our hearts still ache in sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No on will ever know

But know we know you want us
To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store

Since you’ll never be forgotten
We pledge to you today
A hallowed place within our hearts
Is where you’ll always stay

I am saddened and proud to say he was one of "our"boys here in little Coos Bay. One of our "HEROS".
I will pray that life gets easier and the memories bring comfort instead of pain for you and your family.

To the family of Steven, I just received a phone call from my son on July 5th. He was with Steven in combat when he was taken from you. He also said he was his roommate. Steve was a student of mine in high school and I remember the day he re-introduced himself to me as "Scuba Steve." He never failed to brighten my day with his sense of humor and quick wit. Even after graduation, I enjoyed hearing about his adventures to Alaska and talking with him about his plans for the future. I was saddened to hear of his passing but I am proud to have known him and I thank him for his service to our country. He is a true Hero!

To his family: I can't imagine the pain you are feeling right now. You raised a fine young man who was always considerate of others and had a heart of gold. I know teachers aren't supposed to have favorites, but he truly was one of finest individuals I had the pleasure of teaching. I hope my son can grow up to be half the man that Steve had become. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Your loved one gave the ultimate sacrifice in serving our Country. May he always be remembered for the honor and courage with which he fulfilled his duty--and for the love and joy he gave his family. With deepest sympathy (John 15:13-Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.)

Dear Michelle,
We have not seen each other in many years, but I was saddened to hear of the death of your grandson. Please accept my deepest sympathy. I'm sorry I didn't get to know Steve. However, I will remember that he was willing to give his life for the freedom of our country and for the freedom of people not his own (John 15:13). God bless you and your family.

There are no words that can express my sorrow for you and your family. Steven was a hero. He will never be forgotten, that I can promise you. I have a grandson in the Marines. He was with 3/1 for his first two deployments. He is over there on his third deployment now. I know there are many in the 3/1 family that are praying and thinking of you at this time. I know several of the boys from Lima are also thinking of and praying for Steven. I belong to a group and know a couple of the boys that were there at the time of the accident. I know that there were several that made the trip to Coos Bay from California to honor him as well.
May God bless you. May the angel put their wing around you and give you peace. May your sadness of the moment be replaced with the wonderful memories you have of Steven.

I have so many memories of Steve, Sam and Eddie. For a while there if you seen one the others were soon to follow. The boys used to sleep on the trampoline in the back yard half the day and go and hang with friends half the night.
All three joined the Marines. They belived in serving thier country. Sam and Ed are both home safe still driving us parents nuts. I'm lucky to have known Steve. He was so patient with others and always a friend.
He came by the house last Christmas and you could see the boy had become a man. Steve will be missed he is a HERO

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

Though this soldier is not yet known except to their unit or families, my grief for the loss of you son/daughter is felt. I know what it's like to loose your child in war as my son was killed in action too. It feels that your heart has been ripped from you and you don't understand why this happened to your child. I've felt all you will feel in the coming days and weeks and though I’m not close in relation to area, but I am very close by email. I offer any support to you and your family that I can. It's with the Grace of God that I've gotten through each day and with His healing love and comfort that I've been able to once again sleep at night and not cry each day. Believe me I do know how hard it is. May God continue to heal you and your family and contact me when and if you are ever ready, even if it's to vent or cry.

In memory of my son SPC Harry (Buck) Winkler III KIA 11/12/06 Samarra, Iraq with the 2-505th PIR 82nd Airborne Div

Know in your heart that you are a true hero and will never be forgotten. All gave some, some gave all. Rest in peace. You will be missed by everyone’s life you have touched.

To the family, as the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life’s routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family, friends, and all Americans for the sacrifice of one of your family members for our freedom. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May you find comfort in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father.
