Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Cody M. Carver US Army Private 1st Class.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

The flag is flying in the sky
A daily reminder of who and why
We sit here remembering them today
These heroes that now lie in their grave.

While here on earth, the bravest ones
A soldier, a mother, a daughter, a son
The father's who went far off to war
To ensure our safety and so much more

To keep our children happy and free,
Someone must do this job, you see
So, today remember the soldiers who served,
Because this is one thing they truly deserve.

The loved one's that they have left behind,
The Gold Star mothers, like your and mine
We honor them proudly, every day
Our American Soldier...Proud and Brave
By Shannon Williams-Austill

I want to thank this soldier for their sacrifice.
And, I wish to extend my deepest regards to the loved ones they have left behind. Their service to our nation, has not gone unnoticed. They are our heroes, who paid the ultimate price for us, and that is something that every American needs to be reminded of and remember everyday.
The freedom we all have, we have because of brave young men and women who made a choice to defend and serve.
Today, let me remember your loved one with you.

Cody, I came to your funeral at the Coweta High School gym. It was packed. I did not know you, but I knew you gave your life up for me. There was 130 bikers I counted and some more I heard keeping those protester quiet by circling them with their bikes. I saw you Mama and Daddy. I have thought of them many times and send up prayers for them that God will continue to comfort them and give them Peace that passes understanding. I live in Haskell also and work for Coweta Schools. My son is was in Iraq at the same time you were. He came home to us.
I will never forget you. The Bible says there is no greater love than to lay down your life for another. I have thanked you privately now I want to thank you here for sheding your blood for me. I've wanted to meet your parents. Maybe I will get to one day.
Well, thanks Baby for all you did for us. Aho!

cody, you where only with us for a little while. I still remember the day we all went to the range and i almost had to give you an I.V. I wish that things would have worked out differently, I felt lost and helpless not being able to save any of you that day. I carry those memories with me everyday. I know that you are in a better place now. I can only hope that i see you on the other side.

Another Veterans' Day approaches, and like many soldiers, I will be marching down the street in a parade. I reflect back on my career thus far in the Army, and still get choked up remembering Cody's funeral. I had done many miltary funerals before that, and many since, but Cody's has always been fresh in my mind. As a member of the Honor Guard, I had to restrain my emotions that day, and the day we picked Cody up from the airfield. I struggle still to find the words to say to his family. The emotion I saw was enough to bring the strongest man to his knees. I have never witnessed such an overwhelming display of love and emotion in my life before or since. I do not know what my career will bring me. Another deployment or not. I find myself wondering, if I laid down my life like Cody, for peace and this Nation, would I have touched as many people as he did? I still remember the songs from his service, and the people lining the streets. I remember his friends and family. I remember the tears, and the sinking feeling in my chest. Cody, I again felt compelled to write. I know you are in heaven and continuing to touch peoples' lives on a daily basis. To Cody's family, I am blessed to have witnessed your love for Cody. My sincere condolences to you all everyday.

Hello,
I represent PRAYER SHAWLS 4 FALLEN SOLDIERS (PS4FS), an organization that since October 2007 has sent over 2,700 prayer shawls to military families who have lost a loved one. We are an organization of over 240 groups from all over the country. We make every effort to reach families even when post cards are returned after they have moved. Would you kindly send me a contact email/address so that we may send a loving hand made prayer shawl to the family? Thank you!

To the Family of Pvt. Cody M. Carver: Yesterday was Veterans day. A college student walked into my office and handed me a flag with the name Pvt. Cody M. Carver attached to it. They were having a memorial to all the fallen soldiers outside and wanted each person to be recognized individually. My husband returned home from Iraq just two weeks ago. My worst nightmare for the entire time he was gone, is your reality. I cannot thank you enough for the sacrifice Cody made. Because of him and soldiers like him, Iraq is a safer place and my husband made it home. I didn't know Cody even existed until yesterday; but I will always remember what he did for our country. God Bless you and thank God for Cody.

To the Carver family,

Thinking of all our soldiers today.

...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

Cody,
Almost 7 months have passed without you with us...There are no words that could say how much we miss you.Your smile, your laugh, your blue eyes, your excitement, your screaming at Jake (haha)..I miss it all..I can close my eyes and see you from the time you were a baby all the way up until the night you walked out of our house to leave. We are so proud of the man you were becoming! You could so easily have chosen a different path and while we still would have you with us...we all know that a different path could have led to a life that you were not happy with. You made the decision to change your life and better yourself..I know that must have been a hard decision for you with all of your friends and family to leave behind but that shows just how much you were determined to better yourself and your future. You were the oldest and the leader of the clan when it came to you,Dillon,Justin,Jon ,and Krystal.I see parts of you in Dillon and Justin everyday. Continue to watch over us hun until we see you again...We love and miss you so much and forever and ever will be so very PROUD of you Cody.
Love You...

CODY, THOUGH I DID NOT KNOW YOU PERSONALLY, I WAS AT YOUR FUNERAL. IT WAS AN HONOR TO BE ON THE HONOR GUARD TEAM, TO GIVE YOU THE HONORS YOU HAVE TRULY EARNED. TO SEE THE LOVE OF YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND A WHOLE TOWN PAYING TRIBUTE TO YOU WAS REASSURING THAT PEOPLE HAVE NOT STOPPED BEING PEOPLE. I SAW THAT EVEN THOUGH THE BELIEFS MAY ALL BE DIFFERENT THEY STILL RECOGNIZED THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE THAT YOU PAYED FOR THIS COUNTRY AND THEM. FROM WHAT I HEAR YOU WERE A GREAT SOLDIER AND FROM WHAT I SAW YOU WERE A GREAT AND LOVING SON, AND FRIEND. REST IN PEACE, AND KNOW THAT YOU WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED NOT JUST BY THOSE WHO HAD THE PRIVILAGE OF MEETING YOU.

Cody was an amazing friend and person. Words honestly can't describe how much I miss him to this day. He was so happy when he told us that he had joined the army, and he loved every second of basic. Even when he was with us on leave, he constantly talked about how excited he was to go back. He was so brave about everything. Even when we asked if he was scared or worried, he acted as if he knew he had to do his job no matter what it meant. Cody was very dear to me, and I know he meant the world, more than the world, to his family. Cody, I love and miss you so much, not a day goes by that I don't think about you or your car(s) or your flip flops with the bottle openers, haha!! I can't wait to see you again man, just please keep watching over us down here, it's hell without you...

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There are no right or wrong ways to grieve, it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you.

Chaplain Dan Gates, Georgia Society SAR

November 3, 2007

With the deepest regret, I have just learned of the death of Private Carver. As a Vietnam Veteran and the State Chaplain of the Georgia Society, Sons Of The American Revolution, I speak for our President, Charlie A. Newcomer, III and the more than 1,400 SAR members around the State of Georgia in humbly expressing the condolences of a grateful Society. Wrapped in the integrity of service to our nation and the inestimable values of duty, honor and country, your American hero stood on a wall of freedom for us all. This precious life, lived and lost in love of America, epitomized every attribute of patriotism the Sons Of The American Revolution hold dear. And, as Americans, we could never repay the debt we owe ..!! Nor the debt we owe you… the family of one of America's best ...!!!

I am Deeply Saddened to learn of the loss of Pvt. Cody M. Carver.
The Price this Brave Young Soldier and his family have paid for this country and for freedom, Will Never Be Forgotten.

May Cody rest safely now, in the Loving Care of God and may the Grace and Comfort of the Lord be with the Carver family.
There will Never Be Enough Ways to Humbly Thank these Young Heroes for their Sacrifices, my 19 year young brother, among them. Killed in action in Vietnam in 1967.

"Cast thy burden upon the Lord,
and He shall sustain thee."
~ Psalm 55:22 ~

Hoping you can feel the thoughts of caring and support that surround you today and in the difficult days ahead, as this Grateful Country mourns with you, for Someone Very Precious to you, Who Is A True American Hero to all of us.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I did not know Cody personally, but I want to thank him for protecting our country. I truly respect and honor him for putting his life on the line to keep others safe. He is truly a hero. My brother, Sgt Buddy Hughie, was killed February 19, 2007 in Afghanistan, so I understand your pain at this time. I pray for you and your family and friends during this time of grief.

My heart and prayers are with you and your family. Your son is a Hero. One that will never be forgotten. I, too, am the mother of two sons in the Army. Both have been to Iraq and the youngest is serving there now. I pray for each and everyone of them every second of the day. May God pour out his blessings and comfort upon you.

"Greater love hath no man than to lay down his life for a friend". Although we never met, your son is my friend-he laid down his life for my right to be free. I pray that God will see you through this time of loss.
