To the family of SSG Robin Towns on Memorial Day 2014:
My son and I travelled to Long Island, NY this weekend to volunteer and run in the 7th annual US Marine Corps Cpl Christopher G. Scherer "I Did the Grid" 4 Mile Run on May 24 in East Northport, NY. This run is in honor of Cpl Christopher Scherer who was KIA in Operation Iraqi Freedom on July 21, 2007 and all the fallen who served in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Each runner has four names of fallen service members on their bibs. We were asked to think about and pray for each fallen hero for one of the four miles of the run. SSG Robin Towns' name and service information was on my bib. It was a privilege to run in his honor. SSG Towns is in my heart and prayers this Memorial Day. God bless. Sincerely, Polly Papsadore

To the family and wife of SFC Townes. I was a member of the same 275th MP Company as SFC Townes. I trained with him for that mission, slept accross from him during training and in doing this i learned a great deal about him and considered him a true friend and Battle buddy. I use to see him on his laptop every night either emailing his wife or talking to his wife via skype, his desktop had a picture of his wife Sheila on it who i finally had the pleasure of meeting one night while we were both home on leave just b4 departing to iraq. They were with another couple at a Giants grocery store parking lot. I knew right away which was his wife cause of his desktop picture on his laptop. He was a great guy, not a day goes by that i dont think about him. I pray that Gods presence be with you and your family always!

Words cannot express how my soul was engulfed in sadness the day I was told, my friend and brother SFC Towns was taken from us, I was one of several Puerto Rico National Guard soldiers attached to 275th m.p. co., I met this marvelous man who introduced me to Jesus, he helped me through rough moments, and lifted me in bad times, I can honestly say, I am as my brother Washington previously stated, a better man having had crossed paths with this peace giving and loving man. I WILL NEVER FORGET HIM, I AM SURE TODAY HIS IS RESTING IN THE LORD'S HANDS. I WILL NEVER FORGET MY BROTHER AND DEAR FRIEND...TOWNS FALLEN, NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN.

I served with SSG Towns, he was one of the best Soldiers I have ever met.
He was always inspirational, and could elevate all those around him through his words or actions.
He was the ultimate teacher and a unwavering leader.
I am a better person because of him.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Robin, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

To the Towns family,
Thinking of all our soldiers today.
...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.
But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

With deepest sympathy to the family of the late Robin Towns. Robin and I were cousins. I was eight years his senior and his father (Edward) was my mentor, basketball and football coach. We grew up in a family-related community (Queen City), Va. Beach, VA. until Robin's family re-located to Portsmouth, VA. Our career paths separated us and the death of his parents (Celestine and Edward) further distant us. But, the childhood memories still lingers.
Can I see another's woe and not be in sorrow too?
Can I see another's grief, and not seek for kind relief?

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

My condolences go out to Sheila Towns and members of the Robin Towns family. I considered Robin a friend to my family who was strong in his faith and always willing to give a kind word of encouragement and support. I missed the opportunity to say "I'll see you later, and God's got your back" when he deployed, knowing the value of just those words. We did not know the Lord needed him right away. I will see my Brother of faith again on the other side. I value the memory of our friendship as brothers in Christ and will always remember that good times don't last always, but true friendship can endureth forever. God keep the Family of Brother Robin. Bless the family's spirit and sorrows, and be there strength at this time of bereavement. I ask this prayer in Jesus name, Amen.

To the family and parents of Robin, I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many question as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There are no right or wrong ways to grieve, it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you.

My family and I offer our deepest sympathy to the entire Towns Family, in your time of grief.
I fondly remember Staff Sergeant Towns as a "take care of business" kind of man; he was disciplined, and always willing to lend a hand, or a few words of wisdom. He treated his soldiers with respect. And he was well respected among us.
This past summer, he reminded me to always put my family first. It was something that I needed to hear at the time, and I will remember him most for that brief, meaningful interaction.
Our prayers are with your family, and with the entire 275th MP Company. May God grant you all peace and strength during this difficult time.

To the Wife, Family and Friends of SSgt Towns...It is so cliche to say that "there are no words" to express my sympathy, but truly there aren't. Sgt. Towns served with my Fiance, who is still in Iraq, apart of the 275th MP Company.
I cannot begin to tell you how this has touched my heart on MANY different levels...But do know this, after speaking with my fiance, it was clear that Sgt. Towns' death was not in vain. As he stated, the soldiers there came together more so than he'd ever seen them do before.
So, on behalf of my Fiance, my family and myself, I offer you our deepest condolences as we pray for your comfort, your strength and peace of mind during this difficult time.
Peace and Blessings

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!
I would also like to tell you about a website, [email protected] where some wonderful people will make wood portraits of your fallen Hero for free for the immediate family. I became aware of this site when I wanted to do something special for Le Ron’s mother.
