I would like to talk to his Mother and family personally. I've been thinking about reaching out for over 10 years. I can explain the "K" on his arm. I was his best friend in Korea. Until I'm sober I won't contact his family. SGT Kelsey is and always be my hero!!! I love you.

Miss you bro. Can't believe it's been almost 3 years since I've seen you. My heart continues to go out to your family as this roughest of days approaches again. I'm not going to be able to make it to your tree this year...but I will be drinking an NA Becks that I'll pretend is a keystone. Wreath for Warriors Walk - Sgt Samuel Kelsey
Robin Dora
December 12, 2009
It gave me great Honor today with my Family to Walk the Warrior Walk - 3rd Infantry Division Fort Stewart, GA
We placed our Wreath -under the Tree of Sgt. Samuel Kelsey.
This Poem says it all.
Another Tree Planted:
There is a place That I must go and Speak to soldiers That I don't Know
I go there often just to talk
On this sacred ground Called Warrior's Walk
Another Tree planted means another life gone and another family tries to move on
Planted in honor of the brave
to thank these soldiers for the life they gave
Fort Stewart, Georgia is where you can see the love and pride around these trees
We take for granted so very much like reaching out being able to touch
So I go there my thanks to give
I'm Grateful to them for the life I live
and if ever I think what a hard life I lead My heart will find perspective among those trees

Dear Rich, I feel nothing but the HIGHEST admiration and gratitude for those who serve so nobely in the US Military. Our good friend Nicholas who was in SF w/us in Feb on stage has served 3 tours in the Army, so our respect and anxiety for those in harm's way to protect our liberty reaches close to our home also. What a handsome and kind looking young man Samuel was. He had your warm eyes and handsome smile. Both Tony and I are so sorry for your loss, and clearly the loss of a wonderful human being. Please know our love and prayers reach out to you and all those who had the privledge to know, befriend, and love your wonderful son. Clearly Sam and you have both touched the lives of so many in a positive fashion, and know we both admire you and Samuel greatly. I have happened upon your guest book- while I did not know you- I am in debt to you for what you allowed those of us living in America to have, Freedom. May you be with those that loved you; as the wind at their back to move them along, the strength in their arms when things seem to heavy, and the ease in their hearts when the pain becomes so great because they miss you so much ...it hurts. Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Samuel, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

To the Kelsey family: Even though I did not personally know Sgt. Kelsey, I am serving in Iraq in the same unit. His loss was one that was felt deeply throughout the who brigade and everytime a soldier mentions Patrol Base Kelsey, we always remember the sacrifice he gave for those of us here and for our families. My prayers go out to you - the ones who knew him the best and loved him. He is truely a hero to all of us and will never be forgotten.

Kelsey was a friend of mine I met during the time when I first enlisted in the Army, before I went to basic training at Fort Leonard Wood. We used to laugh a lot about stupid things. He was funny and boyish and always had something funny to say. We became friends. I saw him the last time back in Feb. 2007 then lost touch. In Dec. 2007 - right around the time he passed away, he contacted me to let me know that he is in Iraq and that he is doing ok. He will be missed a lot.
Kelsey,
Your smile and laughs will be missed greatly. I am sorry that I didn't get to talk to you again after that day in December. I went to your myspace page today to let you know that I am pregnant and have a family now. I know you will be happy for me. But today I found out that you passed away. I am truly sad and can't stop tears from falling. I remember our laughs and our talks. You will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace, my friend. You were a great soldier and NCO (I remember when you told me after you made sgt. - and I remember all those talks of ours about Hawaii and Sapper School) and I am very proud of you.
My best regards to your mom. I know one time you told me that you mentioned me to your mom. I don't know if she would remember me but I just hope that she is ok. My prayers are with you and your loved ones.

Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die.
An Indian Prayer
I am hoping you find solace in these words.

Denina,
I am deeply sorry to hear of the loss of Sam. I regret to ever introduce myself to you at work but I did have the privilege to know your son. He is a great individual who gave the ultimate sacrifice that a soldier could give. He set the example of what every soldier should represent themselves as. It makes me proud to be in an Army that still has great soldiers like Sam. He will be greatly missed by many but remembered by all.

Dearest Kelsey Family, I was not fortunate enough to know Sgt. Kelsey personaly, however, I wish to extend my deepest heartfelt sympathy to you all. As I sit in the comfort of my cozy East Texas home, I have been looking at Legacy.com, and my heart is so sad to see the death[s] of Sgt. Kelsey, and so many of our youth to war, hate, and misunderstanding. There are not enough words to express how thankful I am for the ultimate price this brave soldier made in part, to keep our great country free, because freedom is not at all FREE! Let us never forget. Know that I pray for peace for you,as well as for our great Nation. God will deliver to you comfort and strength at this most difficult time. Sincerely, A Fellow Texan

My prayers are with you on the loss of a beloved soldier. I too am a parent of a soldier and I am proud and respect all the young men and women for being the brave ones to be there for each and every one of us, to protect and do the duties that we are unable to do ourselves. I thank you for sharing a very brave young man with us.
