I went to school with Todd and worked on a science project with him once. He was genuinely a really sweet and easygoing guy. Never saw him get mad or raise his voice. I had no idea he passed on, let alone so young. Rest in peace.

Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Todd E. Davis US Army Specialist.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,

Wow. You were a football teammate at LSN and always had a lot of heart. Your story about having the car packed to go to Oklahoma and deciding to join the Army at the last moment is nothing short of heroic. Thanks for your service, and rest in peace.

The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Todd, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Todd, I have been thinking about you a lot lately. I've missed you over the years and now I miss you more than ever. You were my best friend. Those feelings have never changed, not even now. You're still up there on my list.
I'll never forget the times you stood up for me like the time when we both drank RC to stay up all night so we could watch and wait for those kids to try to vandalize my house (which is something you got word of and warned me about ahead of time of course). You were going to help me whip them remember? You said "That's what friends are for." Todd you were exactly that.
I had a dream about you the other night that I was talking to you. It felt so real. I was frustrated when I woke up to find it wasn't true. Then I felt I needed to talk to you all of a sudden. It's what brought me to looking you up again after finally giving up on doing so those previous times (because I could never find you). That's when I found out you were gone. I wish we could have talked when you were home on leave back in December of '06. I haven't talked to you in 6 years. You made a big difference in my life and were like my brother.
Sometimes when its late at night, I get sad because I know I will never get to talk to you again in this lifetime. It only makes sense that you died fighting for your country because I knew of the pride you had in it. I remember how loyal you were to your friends so I know it was exactly the same with the ones that fought alongside you.
Thanks for being there for me and thanks for your service to our country. I salute you Todd. I will never forget about you for the rest of my life.

Today I looked at this entry, then I looked at the photos - how you must miss that smile. Sorrow at the loss of another young, promising life? Certainly. Regret for all the years he didn't get to live? Yes.
But reading much of what's written here, I know that he had a big impact on everyone during his few short years on earth; he will be missed by his family and friends, but they are fortunate to have the memory of a big personality who meant much to many. One Mom's memory of him eating 'piece after piece after piece' of pizza will bring a smile to many faces, especially those of us who have a son.
Rest Well young man - you were faithful unto death.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!
I would also like to tell you about a website, http://groups.msn.com/SSPSoldierPor
traits/homepage,
where some wonderful people will make wood portraits of your fallen Hero for free for the immediate family. I became aware of this site when I wanted to do something special for Le Ron’s mother.

Sue and family,
I heard the news the other day and saw some pictures of Todd on the office doors. It’s very sad. I have no idea what heroes like Todd really go through and are faced with minute by minute. My days go on as usual. I live so far away from the war. It’s to easy not to notice then wonder why this happened. It hits home!
I don’t know how you must feel or what you are going through at this time –no one really does. But if I can be of any help in any way to you Sue or the family please reach out to me. I feel very sad and wish I could be of some help.

"Beannacht" (Gaelic Blessing)
On the day when the weight deadens on your shoulders and you stumble, may the clay dance to balance you.
And when your eyes freeze behind the gray window and the ghost of loss gets in to you, may a flock of colors - indigo, red, green and azure blue come to awaken you in a meadow of delight.
When the canvas frays and the curach of thought and a stain of ocean blackens beneath you, may then come across the water a path of yellow moonlight to bring you safely home.
May the nourishment of the earth be yours. May the clarity of light be yours. May the fluence of the ocean be yours. May the protection of the ancestor be yours.
And so may a slow wind work these words of love around you and your family, an invisible cloak to mind your life.

As a Vietnam Veteran and the State Chaplain of the Georgia Society, Sons Of The American Revolution, I speak for our President, Charlie A. Wrapped in the integrity of service to our nation and the inestimable values of duty, honor and country, your American hero stood on a wall of freedom for us all. This precious life, lived and lost in love of America, epitomized every attribute of patriotism the Sons Of The American Revolution hold dear. And, as Americans, we could never repay the debt we owe ..!! Nor the debt we owe you… the family of one of America's best ...!!!

THE NEXT ROOM
Death is nothing at all...I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference in your tone, wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Pray, smile, think of me - let my name be ever the household word that I always was, let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of a shadow on it. Life means all that it every meant. It is the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner. All is well.

Please know how Deeply Sorry I am, to learn of the loss of Spc. Todd E. Davis.
As a parent, who has lost a daughter suddenly and
having lost a brother to war...
I am aware of the deep and devastating pain that you are experiencing.
The overwhelming heartache, that seems to surface through our shock, as the time passes.
Please hang on to your Faith and know that you will get through this.
May the memories of your Brave Young Soldier, remain in your heart always and give you strength through the difficult days ahead, and may Todd Rest Safely now, in the Loving Care of God and know that he Will Never Be Forgotten.
I pray that the Peace of God will be with the Davis family.
I am the sister, of such a young Hero, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Vietnam, many years ago.
"Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee."

To the Family:
I am deeply moved by the loss of Todd. I am trusting God to restore your joy because "...weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning..."
I have been in the ministry for almost 30 years, I have learned never to question God because He is God! I thank God because He has "...wiped away all tears from Todd's eyes..." and I thank Him because Todd will "...never know pain or sorrow again..."
I will FOREVER "Salute" Spc. Todd E. Davis!
Yours in Christ,
florence
