Danny Kimme Obituary
FISHER – Danny Lee Kimme, 27, of Fisher was killed along with two of his comrades in action north of Baghdad in Balad Province Jan. 16, 2008, while serving with the Army's 1st Squadron, 32nd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
For his actions, Danny was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart along with various service medals. His other awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon and Weapons Qualification Expert.
Danny was born Oct. 27, 1980, in Jacksonville, Ark. He was the son of Douglas J. Kimme of Fisher and Patricia Barry of Jacksonville, Ark. Danny is survived by his parents and his wife, Corinne (Johnstone) Kimme of Urbana. They were married March 1, 2007, in Columbus, Ga. Corinne is to give birth to their daughter, Dani Leah, this April. He is also survived by his brother, Steven, and his sister, Nicole, both of Jacksonville, Ark.
Danny volunteered for service to his country and chose to be on the front lines with his team. He was proud of his service to his country and his family is extraordinarily proud of him. The family wishes that Danny be remembered as a loving husband and son and as a hero for his nation.
Danny was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed competition shooting and was an expert marksman. He was also a devoted Arkansas Razorbacks fan.
Danny was buried with full military honors Jan. 26, 2008, in Cato Cemetery in Mayflower, Ark., next to the graves of his grandparents.
A local memorial service will be held at the Holiday Inn in Urbana Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Memorial donations for Danny's wife and unborn daughter can be made in Corinne's name and sent to Heartland Bank & Trust, 1101 W. Windsor Road, Champaign, IL 61821, attention Amanda Blythe. A memorial fund has also been established at the National City Bank, 507 S. Broadway, Urbana, IL 61801.

I tried to find Mr. Kimme at Champaign PD, but he retired and I couldn't find anyone who would take a message for me.

My wife and I made a donation in honor of Danny to the Center for Wounded Veteran's project at the University of Illinois. Our donation allowed us to permanently name a room after Danny. A plaque honoring him will always be at the entry to the room.
His is room 2012 on the attached floor plan
The Center is a one of a kind facility specially designed to accommodate the most severely wounded of our vets who want to continue their education.

Hey Dootch! Well I bet you couldn't believe it last week when Ole Trav got his L's back! I know I couldn't believe it! ;) It will make things alot easier with the trips to Arkansas now too. Nikki and I went to visit down there a couple months ago and I finally have to admit...there really are alot of things to do and see down there. Finally got to try Shotgun Dan's Pizza that you used to rave about all the time and ya know what...you were right..that pizza is worth the trip alone! Wish I would've went with you sometime before though. Visited your gravesite while we were there and left you some Razorback stuff there. Hope you liked it. Nikki and I will be coming back down in October and are trying for the end of this month as well. Gonna put in a new HVAC system for your mom and Darren when we're there in October. Not gonna be an easy job so give me a hand when ya can ok bro?? We'll definitely be stopping by Cato again to pay our respects to you. Nikki and I thought alot about you last weekend...missin' ya as usual buddy. Was just thinkin' about ya buddy. Got a lil fishing boat not too long ago...wish you were here to do some fishin' with me and Tony. Nikki caught her 1st fish a few weeks ago too and man was she excited!...lol Been going to the shooting range alot lately too. Nice to have my FOID card now and be able to go release some steam once in awhile. Could use your expertise though. Still have your tape from the shooting matches and MAN you could shoot! Hopefully I'll be that good sometime soon. We miss ya buddy and think about you often.
