Mikeal Miller Obituary
Mike was born on August 27, 1985 in Lakeview to Renè Blair and Steven W. Miller.
Mike attended grades 3-8 in Lakeview. He went to South Albany High School where he graduated on June 3, 2003.
He enlisted under the delayed entry program when he was 17. He took his basic training at Fort Benning and also served in Korea and two tours in Iraq. He was stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado between tours in Iraq and when he was injured he was moved to the Warrior Transition Brigade at Fort Lewis, WA.
Mike received many awards from his service, including the Purple Heart. He was promoted to Sergeant one week before passing away.
Mike is survived by his wife Megan; parents; 3 brothers; stepfather; stepsister; stepbrother; maternal and paternal grandparents; a great-grandmother and numerous other family members and relatives.
A full military service was held on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at Mt. Scott Funeral Chapel in Portland at 2 p.m.
A memorial service will be held in Lakeview on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at the Lakeview High School Gymnasium. A potluck lunch will be shared at the Elks Lodge.
Memorial donations may be made to Mike Miller Fund, South Valley Bank and Trust, 125 North E Street, Lakeview OR 976730; V.F.W. Post 4070, P.O. Box 134, Lakeview OR 97630; First Baptist Church Remodeling Project, 910 North 2nd Street, Lakeview OR 97630 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Desert Rose Funeral Chapel is taking care of the local arrangements.

It's been a coupe years since I posted on here, but I promise Sgt. Miller you are not forgotten. You memory and sacrifice will stay alive long after the air has left my lungs!!!!! I wish we could have spent more time together when we were younger and I deeply regret that. Non the less i love you cousin. We are bonded for eternity through blood and service. I missed you growing up because of my service to our country and now that you are gone from this earth because of your service, I have missed the chance to tell you how proud I am of you for doing what others fear to do and to serve and pay the ultimate sacrifice for this great nation. I love you so much and there is not a day that I do not think of you. I miss you all the time. As the Annivesary of your death draws closer I find myself get a bit sadder each day. I so wish you could have meet my beautiful Granddaughter Raelynn. She reminds me of you so much when you were little. You two would have been great friends. I know you watch over all of our family and so you know that Emily had a new baby boy Brayden on the 20th. You also know that Kimmy is going to be signing up for the Army real soon. And Roman plans to sign up also. I know that alot of the reason they are doing that is because of you Mikeal and for that I feel great pride. today is the first anniversary of my son SGT. Mikeal Millers death. It is still hard to believe my first born son is no longer in our lives. I miss him so much. I can remember every moment that happen a year ago today when that phone rang and said I needed to get to the hospital for Mikeal's passing. I am so proud to be this young mans mother and I continue to pray for those who are left over there that they will return to their families safe. Cause no parent should have to go through this. Mikeal, I feel you near me every day, you are my angel and I love you.

This is Mikes mom. Thank you Michael for remembering my sons birthday. He would have been 23 on the 27th of August. The last birthday I spent with him was his 17th. We still have a birthday cake for him and we still sing happy birthday. We took him cake and balloons to his gravesite. I still can't believe he is gone. But the memories of him live on, and I want to thank all the guys who we met in colorado for the memories that they shared with us. To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. I never met Mikeal or his beautiful wife but I have followed the family's trial through my friend and his great aunt Marcella. The bravery and faith that this family has displayed throughout this ordeal is truly inspiring. And although my heart breaks at the outcome, I know that Mikeal is at peace with the Lord. I continue to pray for those who loved this brave young man who was taken from this world too soon. May they also feel the Lord's peace and love. I am Sgt. Mikeal Miller's grandmother. I will always remember the extra long hugs he would give me when he was getting ready to go back on tour. I can still feel them now. Mike was our oldest grandson so now there are some pretty big shoes for the others to fill. He loved all of his family and friends with much gusto and when he came home on leave he would tell everyone that if we wanted to see him we would have to come to Albany because he wasn't going to do any extra traveling. We were there for him every time he came home. He gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country and and was doing what he loved to do. We will miss him greatly but he will never be forgotten.

How is it that we can feel so strongly two such conflicting emotions. Heart-break, anguish, deep grief, anger at the un-fairness yet,such pride, honor and respect for this young man. He shall be in our hearts and memories forever. Memories of him as a child on my living room floor eating popcorn and ice cream with his Uncle Mike watching scary movies, wrestling on the floor with his 2 brothrs all in sleeping bags! My heart goes out to the Miller family and the Donnelly family and all Mikael's loved ones. I am his great aunt Patsy, I did not know him well but what I did know , I loved. He was such a fun and happy guy and when he spoke of Megan he would just light up he missed her, because she had to work when he came to Redding, but always kinda wanted to get back to her. Dearest Steve & Rene, Megan, Pam, Wayne, Scott and family -- It just doesn't seem that long ago that we were all together after Mikeal was born in Lakeview! Steve and Rene,you both beamed beyond words at Mikeal's birth -- what a precious son to have and the privilege God gave you to raise such a fine loving man. Although time and the roads of life have taken all of us separate ways, you all have remained in our prayers throughout the years. Our hearts were so broken when we received the news of Mikeal's injuries. We immediately shared his need and asked everyone we knew to be in prayer for Mikeal and all of you. Many at the church we pastor asked weekly how he was doing. The people on the prayer chain at Xerox, where I work, weekly held your loved one up in prayer. We never did get to meet you, Megan, but you, too, have been in our prayers especially during these last months. We are so proud of your husband and his commitment to fight for the freedom we all can live in. We will be grateful for his efforts forever as he layed down his life with the thousands of others who believe in this freedom we cherish. I pray that you will feel our prayers and hugs and most of all God's love -- He really knows how you feel because His only Son died for our eternal freedom. May you find God's comfort and peace throughout the days a head and know He is there for all of you. All of our prayer partners sorrow with you in this loss. I can't find the words to express my profound sorrow and pride that I felt when I attended the funeral for my (Great-Nephew) Mikeal Miller. He was treated as he should have been "A Hero". He is the first soldier in our family in at least 5 generations to have lost their life.
He had an "angel" of a wife, Megan, who stood at his side daily. I will love her always for that. Rest in Peace my sweet nephew. I LOVE YOU, may God Hold You In The Hollow Of His Hands.

I recently was in Portland attending a youth conference and while residing at the Travel lodge read in the paper of your son's passing. I am a retired army chaplain who served in Viet naum. I have shed tears at the Wall of Remembrance for my friends taken in that conflict. I have carried body bags to the helocopters from the battle field. I have conducted numerous memorial services. I do not know your grief but I do know that prayer really helps one through this unspeakable crisis. I took the liberty to mention your son's name and yours at our at our community church in Longbranch, Washington thi morning and our congregation prayed for you during this time.
