Javares
I've known of you're passing now for months. The first time around I found this website I couldn't quite find something in my heart to write. Here I am tonight talking with my good Army friend and you come to mind again.
I remember when we first arrived to basic training in 2001, how we were in the field together when 9/11 happened. And then on to AIT together at Ft Rucker. I remember all the weekends we spent together. Do you remember that night at the Greenhouse Inn when you, I and Joe Shinn were hanging out? So many memories.
I came back to Ft Rucker after spending time in Germany and I found out you were still there. I remember the day I saw you again. You were in the laundry room of the barracks giving haircuts.
The time you took me to Pensacola with you and introduced me to your family. I remember that storm that your mom cooked up in the kitchen. So many memories, I could keep on writing for days. You were like a brother to me.
I look forward to the day I can come visit you again in Pensacola. I miss you. May your soul rest in forever peace.

J, Where do I start brother? I was the one that took you to Kuwait and told you everything was going to be ok. We knew each other for almost 8 years before your passing and then it all came to an end. It tore our whole team apart that was there in Kuwait, and I will never forget the family you helped me create there to hold us all together. You were a crucial part to our team and will always be remembered and loved as a brother in arms, leader of our section and my junior in command. I wear some tags on my arm with your day of passing and your initials in remembrance of you and the impact you had on my life. You are the only Soldier I have lost in 7 deployments and I don't plan on losing another. It was the hardest thing for me to stand in front of that formation and stare at your picture, I know it was you that gave me the strength to stand there and not fall apart. Know that you will always be in my memories as a brother and true friend. With the deepest regrets in saying our goodbyes, It should not have ended that way. Everyone is doing well, considering. The team has since PCS'd and moved on but you will always be one of us. I miss you J.....!

Family of J. Washington, I just would like to say how sorry I am for your loss. It's such a great loss, Washington was such a GREAT person, team player, leader and a best friend! I first met Washington in AIT at Ft. Rucker and got the chance to see him again in Korea during a TDY mission and then again when I was stationed @ Ft. Rucker. Washington grew into a SUPER NCO for the US Army! He was an amazing person, soldier and family man!! May your sould rest in peace and may your memories you shared with all your touched live on for all years to come!! God Bless you Javares!!

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Javares, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

My dearest loved one, here on earth,
I saw a tear fall down your face.
You didn’t see me standing there,
Nor could you feel my soft embrace.
But I was standing next to you,
I know you looked around.
You seemed to wonder what it was
You thought you heard a sound.
Yes my love, it was I,
Who came to check on you.
I saw a tear fall from your eye,
I knew you were feeling blue.
Even though you cannot see me.
Please know that I am near
I am now an angel from above
To brush away your tear.
I know each day you think of me
And many times shed a tear.
But please just close your eyes
And know that I am near.
As I have told you often,
Do not be afraid to cry.
It does relieve the pain
Knowing we had to say goodbye.
One thing is for certain,
Even though life on earth is o’er
I’m still closer to you now
Than ever I was before.
I know you still don’t understand
Why I had to leave this earth
God doesn’t have any secrets;
It’s just all planned from our birth.
Someday when you have joined me
And meet God at His Throne,
It’s then you will understand
The questions that have been unknown.

My heart was torn apart when I got the news, and is still sadden to know that I will not see Jay on this side again. I thank God that he is resting in eternity. I await the day when we will see each other again in paradise. Family, “Cast all your cares on Him for He cares for you” 1Peter 5:7. Know that God is your strength during the difficult days ahead. Seek Him ONLY and meditate on His word.
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Felicia and Roy, I just wanted to tell you about the fondest memory that I have of Jay is when he and Tony sang at granny's b-day party. I did not know that those young men could sing. I thank God for Jay's life and may God forever bless his seed.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

I can't even find the words...I lost my 19 year old son--5 Sept 2007, Balad, Iraq. I am absolutely devastated and I know that you are too...but find comfort in the fact that we will see our loved ones, our heroes again. Do I wish that I could trade places with my son? ABSOLUTELY not. He is in the arms of our Lord--"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away" ~Rev 21:4
What a wonderful thought...
May God bless SSgt Javares J. Washington, God bless you and your family and God bless America!

To the Washington family...Sorry for your lost. I have wonderful memories of Jay's smiling face. I hope you'll have some comfort in knowing that heaven is his new home. I've watched him grow up thru the years... (I lived across the street)and know that indeed he was a good person. I also share the "soldier bond" because i'm a Army Vet. If I could say one last thing to him I would simply say ..HOOAH! AIR ASSAULT! He knows the meaning...
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE HERO!

You are a "TRUE HERO" and you died with much HONOR & RESPECT!!!

Jay and I had some pretty epic races in the 400 meters during our senior years of high school. That season, we got to know each other fairly well. In addition to being a great competitor, I will always remember Jay as being thoughtful, funny, and kind. My deepest condolences go out to his family. Jay was a great person who made indelible impact on my life and, I'm quite sure, the lives many others.
