I was attached to the unit Dustin served. We came as a squad from Puerto Rico.
My little time spent with him were on guard duties where he would talk to me about his wife and family and we played cards just to stay awake during the shift. I extend my deepest condolences to his family and pray for eternal rest for my battle buddy

You have been in my thoughts often lately Dustin. I cannot believe it has been more than 17yrs since I last was able to see your smile and feel your hug that always brightened my day. You may not be present in person but we think and talk about you often. I am touched by the ongoing memories posted here, this is a testament to the impact you had on so many lives Dustin. On this day and always, know that you are so loved and missed.

Hello,
We wanted you to know that we will be honoring and remembering your loved one this holiday season. We have recently sent Care Packages to our deployed troops in his name. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Dustin C. Jackson US Army Specialist.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, our family, friends and many others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,

Dear Jackson Family,
First off, I am so humbled by the sacrifice of you and your family. I don't know what else to say really. I can honestly say that our thoughts and prayers are with you. My husband is Spc Lloyd, who was in the vehicle also. God has blessed us with a son due next month and my husband wishes to name him jackson. I hope that this is okay to do as I feel it will help him bring closure. Thank you for this site. I am going to print it out for him and show him that gone is not forgotten. I don't think there is anyway to express my gratitude to you or my condolences that will amount to what you and Spc. Jackson are worthy of. Just know that there is a family out there that remembers this amazing young man.

We begin a new year now and I just don't know if the pain of losing you will ever subside. You are so deeply threaded into our family tapestry. My dear Dustin, I think of you every day. Your spark kept our family glowing brightly, and though we are a family of many bright flames, our candle has been dimmed by the loss of your light. We can only hope to keep your generous spirit alive by committing ourselves to immulating the kindness you were always willing to share with all who were in need. The hero in you was this compassionate young man who wanted to help others. You will always be remembered in this way. Your legacy is love.
Please donate to homeless shelters and food banks in honor of the service Dustin gave to his country.

As we now get ready to redeploy back to our families we are taking Dustin's memory and the love that we had for him home with us. He may not phsically be going home with us but he is in our heart. He will never be forgotten, nor will his family. I extend my heart out to you the family and let you know we love you and your always on our mind. Dustin was a wonderful Soldier, brother, son, husband, and friend. We still miss him every day. We will be home soon and we will hold him deep in our thoughts. Its still hard to believe even today that he is gone. We wait for him to walk around the corner and say I was just kidding guys and have that big smile. Lord how he loved Nieto's chicken nachos. He always made us smile. We love you bro and I know that you are watching over us. May God bless his family and friends.

My dear son Dustin, what a special person he was. My heart aches for him. What he added to the lives of all who knew him can never be replaced. I want so much to hug him again and to see his loving smile. He gave his life heroically its true, but he had such a promicing future ahead of him. I know he could have served our country and his community in countless wonderful ways. My prayer is that someday the hatred, ignorance, greed, and intolerance that causes war will be eliminated. We must find intellectual solutions for creating global peace and prosperity if the human race is to survive at all.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!
I would also like to tell you about a website, http://groups.msn.com/SSPSoldierPor

where some wonderful people will make wood portraits of your fallen Hero for free for the immediate family. I became aware of this site when I wanted to do something special for Le Ron’s mother.

I still can't believe that he's gone. I say his name everyday. He was gentleman, A Loving Husband, A Friend and a Great Soldier. Spc Jackson was always someone I could depend on as a fellow soldier and someone who you could talk to about anything. I could remember the times he would come by our supply room before we deployed to ask if we needed any help. There were many times we would just chat about the people in our lives. I can remember talking and joking with him, Spc Hoskins an SSG Savell right before I left to go home because my daughter was hurt. Spc Jackson always had that wonderful smile even on a bad day. There is so much good things to say about SPC Dustin C. Jackson. I am proud to have served with SPC Dustin C. Jackson. I really sorry that his family had to lose such a wonderful SON, HUSBAND AND SOLDIER. MY SYMPATHY GOES OUT TO HIS LOVED ONES. MAY THE LORD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU STRONG.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To the Jackson family,
I know there are no words to say, except how sorry I am for your loss. May you hold Dustins' memory in your heart and please remember he shall never be forgotten.
...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.
But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

I can't even find the words...I lost my 19 year old son--5 Sept 2007, Balad, Iraq. I am absolutely devastated and I know that you are too...but find comfort in the fact that we will see our loved ones, our heroes again. Do I wish that I could trade places with my son? ABSOLUTELY not. He is in the arms of our Lord--"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away" ~Rev 21:4
What a wonderful thought...
May God bless SPC Dustin C. Jackson, God bless you and your family and God bless America!

Father we entrust our brother Dustin to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold Dustin in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My deepest sympathy.
