Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this holiday season and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of David B. Williams US Army Sergeant.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

Blake,
Not a day goes by that I don't think of you or speak your name. You are the best big brother a girl could ask for! When you left, you took a piece of my heart. And that void will never be filled. I have needed you so many times over the last 5 years. But I just look up and smile, knowing that you still have my back. I love you peanut head and miss you every second of every day.

Always-
Sissy

To the family of Sgt. David B. Williams:
Please know that just as your loved one remains in your hearts and minds; his sacrifice, and that of your family, remains with the people he died defending. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for his bravery and selflessness, or the heartache we feel for your loss. God bless and keep you always.

I am from Tarboro, born and raised, and unfortunately never met Blake, but I wanted to mention the emotions I felt the day of his funeral. Coming from G'Ville to Tarboro that day, I came up to a stopped line of cars just beyond Wendy's. I wasn't aware as to what was happening at first, but when I saw the flashing police lights come over the hilltop, then the motorcycles, and flags, and such sincere facial gestures on the passers by, I suddenly remembered it must be Blake's funeral, and oh, how the goosebumps developed on my arms and the tightness in my throat as I watched them go by. I could have sat there in my truck in solitude the rest of the day; I felt a peacefull 30 mins in Tarboro that day as even the Walmart traffic was at a halt. Just wanted to share; my prayers are with your family.

My sympathies go out to the entire Williams family in their loss. I was Blake's JROTC instructor at Tarboro High School from 1996-2000. He was one of the kindest, nicest, and sincerest cadets that I had the pleasure to teach. He was a studious person and one who took personal pride in his uniform. I never had one single problem with Blake.

I often talked with Blake about his plans after high school and he was adamant about being someone who made a difference in the world and in others lives for that is what we taught - making better citizens.

I'll never forget one year when Blake was pitching for the THS JV team I went to watch him and they were knocking his balls every where and he wanted to quit. The next day he and I had a long discussion about quitting the team. I told him if you quit this because it was hard, you'll quit everytime it gets hard. He kept on and I thank God he did because I believe that stuck with him in his military service.

I also had the privilege of having Mary-Beth for one year in the program. They both were great students. I will continue to keep your family in my prayers.

Thank you Blake for proudly serving our country.

To my second family, Susan, Mary Beth, Gran-Gran and Pa-Pa. There is nothing that I can say that has not already been said. Just know that I loved Blake so much he was like one of my children. I hold his memory close to my heart so that he will be with me always. Blake was not only a soldier, he was a loving, sensitive, giving, honorable young man who touched the hearts of so many and he is a HERO to all. Blake went back to Iraq because he wanted to make a difference, and HE DID. On the daybrake of March 22, 2008 Blake wore the armor of a US Soldier, watching over us, now he wears the armor of God's Army as he still watches over his family and friends, I AM HONORED TO CALL HIM MY FRIEND.

Susan, Mary Beth, Gran-Gran, and Pa-Pa, please know that I Love you all, you are my second family.

You know where I am.

Susan, Mary Beth, and the rest of the Williams family.

It was an honor to be able to ride my car in line behind Blakes show car yeaterday. I met Blake several years ago in the car show scene. It's just like a family. I am older, but was accepted as one of the guys. We have spent a lot of days in the hundred pluss on payment cleaning those cars and having a good time. My best memories are at Brads house setting around and watching Blake, my son, and all the guys playing basketball. There was so much big talk. I laughed so hard at these crazy nut. We would be there for culb meetings, but in no time someone would pick up that basketball and out the window the meeting would go. I loved to set around and take pictures of them doing their pro. slams, and shots. These are my memories of Blake. A kind, sweet, and funny young mam.
I am so proud of him for fighting for out country. I am proud to alway be able to say I know a guy that cared for his country and other people. That guy was Blake Williams. I really loved you son like a son. He was a sweetheart. I do, and will miss him so much. I will be talkin to him on his space. I told him last night to keep up with this place for all his friends to talk with him.

All my familys love and respect,
Sandy, Tanner, Terry, & Spud

My thoughts and prayers go out to you all for the loss of a great young man who put his life on the line for us. I have a son who has been to Iraq with the possibility of having to go back, and also with the name Blake. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain you must be going through. Watching them get on the bus or plane to go to Iraq was hard in itself. Please know that Blake will always be remembered by so many people and you all are in our thoughts and prayers.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Altough I never had the great honor of meeting Blake, he will always hold a deep and special place in my heart! He is now and will forever be a true American Hero! I am a friend of Coley's and from the way she always talked about Blake, I could tell that he was an amazing man! I am so sorry for your loss and I wish I could say something that would make this all seem better, but I know from experience that words cannot heal the hurt of losing a loved one! I will continue to keep your family in my prayers and will thank God everyday for those that serve our country and for those that pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep me and my family safe and free!

With deepest condolences,

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Dear Sue, Mary beth and Damian~
I can not even think of the words to tell you how sorry I am about the loss of Blake. Blake was a good man and a strong man, he was one of the very few young men I have met these days that I was proud to call not an aquaintance but my friend. Blake will be truely missed but trust me he will never be forgotten, he was a fine man a fine son and a fine soldier. He always had a smile and a few minutes to sit and talk to me when we saw one another at the pool in the summer time and a smile and a wave any other time. Sue I cant say anything to you, its not normal for us to bury our children but please know im here if you need me and please take care of yourself. My prayers are with all of you and I know that heaven is even brighter today( if thats possible) With love and prayers~Lola and Wayne Barfield

I know there are no words to say, except how sorry I am for your loss. May you hold Davids' memory in your heart and please remember he shall never be forgotten.

...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I would also like to tell you about a website, http://groups.msn.com/SSPSoldierPor
traits/homepage,
where some wonderful people will make wood portraits of your fallen Hero for free for the immediate family. I became aware of this site when I wanted to do something special for Le Ron’s mother.

As the mom of a soldier, we have a connection that does not require ever meeting face to face. My heart breaks for you as you experience the worst heartache ever imaginable.
It's obvious that Blake touched many lives, and he will certainly live on in our community and in our hearts as the hero he is.
I pray that God will shed His grace and mercy over you as you face the days ahead.

To the Williams family,
I also grieve with you over the loss of Blake. I will always remember how hard Blake worked to achieve in school. When he was in my second-grade class, his goal was to always make a 100 in spelling. You are blessed to call him your son and brother because of the love and commitment he showed many times over in his short life toward all mankind. My prayers are with your family.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

This hardly seems real, he shouldn't be gone... You don't find too many others in today's world who are as good & caring as Blake was. He will be missed by many because he was & always will be loved by many. He is gone yes, but he will never be forgotten. It takes someone very very courageous to do for our country what he so willingly did. I'm so grateful to be able to say I knew him & I'm even more proud to call him my friend.

I am Deeply Saddened to learn of the loss of Sgt. David B. Williams. The Price this Brave Young Soldier and his family have paid for this country and for freedom, Will Never Be Forgotten.

May David rest safely now, in the Loving Hands of God and may the Healing Grace and Comfort of the Lord be with the Williams family.
There will Never Be Enough Ways to Humbly Thank these Young Heroes for their Sacrifices, my brother among them. Killed in action in Vietnam in 1967.

"Cast thy burden upon the Lord,
and He shall sustain thee."
~ Psalm 55:22 ~

Sincerely hoping that you can feel the thoughts of caring and support that surround you today and in the difficult days ahead, as this Grateful Country mourns with you, for Someone Very Precious to you, Who Is A True American Hero to all of us.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
