As I sit here having watched a movie called " God bless the broken road" I am brought to tears. Your life ended too soon. But as I watched our men walk away I made the statement that not all of them would come home to us. I knew this to be true. My heart knew this. Kelly, Gage and my two babies made our way through this deployment with friends like Karen and Tabitha and we were each-others support system. We traveled to the beach that Easter weekend before Chris died. We were solid in knowing our men of faith were doing what they were meant to do and be. They were men. You could not compare our husbands...they were the best. Years later I still wonder the what ifs. Our friend was lost, my friend and her baby forever changed. His parents life had their joy taken in that moment. 6 Am is early to find out your life is forever changed. I will never forget my friend Kelli's strength, Karen's love and support and eventually Tabitha McCoy's ability to continue on with life as her husband Steven would want. What I am trying to say is that not a day goes by genuinely where my husband SFC Russ Currie and I don't pray for our friends lost and their families. Especially their children. Their fathers died heroes and we will NEVER FORGET YOU OR STOP MOURNING YOU. We love you all.

Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Christopher M. Hake US Army Staff Sergeant. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,

Miss your smile and the way you always made me laugh. Your son is here with me as we miss you tonight he wanted me to tell you that if you were here he would hug and kiss you everyday. You would be so proud of the little man he has become. It doesn't seem like 5 years tonight. It still feels so new like it just happened. I guess it always will. To lose a child is the ultimate loss. I love you so much son. Thank you for what you gave for your country. I'm not sure you would recognize the USA the way it's becoming. I love you babe Rest in Peace with Jesus.

Today is Independence Day as I rejoice for being able to live in a free country I realize it would not be possible without all the Hero's like you son, who fought and gave their life to make it happen, Without Hero's we would not be able to worship and go where we want when we want. You gave up your beautiful family so they could go on and be in a free country. How awesone are you. I miss you blue eyes and the way you could light up a room by your presents. Know wonder the Lord wanted you sitted next to him in heaven. I love you son and I now live to make sure everyone knows how wonderful you were. I miss you so much and my heart aches to see you, thank you so much for given us Gage; he makes me so happy when I am with him; because he is a little part of you I have left. The flag is flying in the sky
A daily reminder of who and why
We sit here remembering them today
These heroes that now lie in their grave.
While here on earth, the bravest ones
A soldier, a mother, a daughter, a son
The father's who went far off to war
To ensure our safety and so much more
To keep our children happy and free,
Someone must do this job, you see
So, today remember the soldiers who served,
Because this is one thing they truly deserve.
The loved one's that they have left behind,
The Gold Star mothers, like your and mine
We honor them proudly, every day
Our American Soldier...Proud and Brave
By Shannon Williams-Austill
I want to thank this soldier for their sacrifice.
And, I wish to extend my deepest regards to the loved ones they have left behind. Their service to our nation, has not gone unnoticed. They are our heroes, who paid the ultimate price for us, and that is something that every American needs to be reminded of and remember everyday.
The freedom we all have, we have because of brave young men and women who made a choice to defend and serve.
Today, let me remember your loved one with you.

As another Christmas approaches, I think of all the good times you gave our family at Christmas. You were always so excited you could never sleep. We gave you guys a glass of wine on Christmas Eve. We would read the Christmas story and remember all the good times of the year. You would wake us at least by 5am. You were so appreciative of every gift and would just jump up and down in excitement. I miss those days Chris. I thank God daily for blessing our lives with a special brother and special son. We all miss you so much. We will think of you many times during this Christmas holiday. Keri, I read your recent message to your brother. You talked about how special he was and what a great brother he was to you. I think he is telling everyone in heaven how blessed he was, also, to have such a great sister as you. I have two great sisters, also. My older sister said once that spouses can divorce and walk away, but brothers and sisters are always brothers and sisters and nothing can change that. Keri, there are many people like myself who pray daily for the families and friends of our heroes like Chris. So, at the times you feel so weighted down as you try to go forward each day without your brother (and special friend), please know that God has raised an army of prayer warriors out here who are carrying you along and cheering you to go on and have the strength to do so. You are not in this alone. Even without us, you have God with you and He is all you need to help you through. God bless you and your family.

Chris,
I am just sitting here missing you so much. You have been on my mind a lot lately. Words could never express how much I love and miss you. You were the best brother a girl could ask for. You always knew just what to say to put a smile on my face or make me laugh. I miss your sense of humor and your smile so much. There will never be another like you. The world is just not the same without you here. I try so hard not to be sad cause I know that is not what you would want and I know that you are rejoicing with Jesus in heaven. It is just so hard cause I miss you so much that it's hard to breathe sometimes. I am so thankful for the time that we were able to spend together the summer before you left. Those are some of my happiest memories. I would give just about anything to go back to that time. That was the last time I saw you. I love you so much. You are truly my hero. I will make sure that your nieces know just how awesome their uncle was. It breaks my heart that they will never know you. They are just amazing and I know they would have just loved you. There is so much on my heart that I need to say to you, but I will go for now. You are missed everyday and as long as there is a breath in me that will not change. Keep watching over us from heaven. There are times that I swear I can feel you near me. I love you little brother.

Dear Chris,
Just when I think things are getting better, I have a night like tonight. Your son is here and talking about My Daddy's Flag. He says this everytime he sees the American flag. I think of you and Christmas time. You were always so excited and couldn't wait for Santa to come. You had to peek at every package, or try to. You just couldn't hold in the excitement. You made Christmas so exciting as a parent because of your thankfulness for everything you got. You went from a life of getting presents, to a life of living in the presence, the presence of God Himself. Enjoy yourself in His presence son. I miss you and have such sweet memories of you. I will see you again someday. Jesus hasten the day when we shall all be together again. Love you Chris.. Merry Christmas. Dad

Chris,
Happy Birthday in Heaven. May God hold you in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Birthdays In Heaven
Are there birthdays in Heaven?
Does the angel blow his horn?
Announcing to everybody
That this is the day you were born?
Can the stars be your balloons
And angel food your cake?
Presents wrapped in moonbeams
All the angels helped to make.
Birthdays meant so much to you
They were always a big deal
Birthday presents, lots of friends
And perhaps a special meal.
So we'll whisper a little prayer today
Asking everyone up above
To sing you a Happy Birthday song
And give you all our love.

Dear Chris:
I remember the day you were born. You lived across the street from us. You were always so special. Your family is family to us. We were broken-hearted to hear that you had gone to Heaven. I want to thank you for fighting that we might have freedom. I look forward to meeting your wife and son. You will be greatly missed. I pray that God will use this for His glory and that He will comfort all of your family. He is the great I Am. With prayers and love, Jo Ann Crawford

Hi baby boy, well your grandpa passed away Thursday morning around 2:00 am, but you probably already know that though. I couldn't put up a tree this year its still to soon to losing you. I did put out lights on the house so you could see them. And your grave is so decorated with two big beautiful wreaths and two poinsettas. You are so loved and missed. How wonderful it will be to attended the biggest christmas party of all and the Kings birthday party. Be sure and sing for him, I love your voice. I love you RIP Superman....mom

SSGT. Christopher Hake. I wanted to thank you for your service to our country and to let you know that because of you and men and women like you. We continue to live in a free nation. My son has just completed his second tour of in Iraq and I thank God everyday for his safe return. Many people do not realize that the deployment of a loved one is very hard for the family left behind. Your beautiful wife, Kelli and precious son, Gage know of that sacrifice. I do not why God chooses the very best to take home; when we feel like they should still be with us. Your legacy will live on through your family and your son. Always remember how much you were loved and will always be loved and missed by those who knew you so well. Those that we love are never really gone as long as we remember them in our thoughts and keep alive their memory. Rest in the arms of the Lord, SSGT. Hake, you earned it.

Hi babe, that is what I always called you and it may seem strange for such a big hero to be called that, but I still have the email where you told me you were my baby. I miss you so much. The feeling of going on with half my heart is so hard, we all miss you so much. Your little Gage's birthday is coming up on Oct. 14 he will be two. He looks and acts like you. I know someday soon he will ask where you are. He will be told what a hero his daddy is. I miss you baby and long to be with you again. Only God knows the pain I feel Rip superman....mom

Chris... you made life at T.O.G. so memorable at A. Co. You were always there in a pinch. I (we) will always remember you coming out in that Stryker at the MCI center during SOA, All the laughs downstairs at the press machines, all the bus rides at ANC, and especially today I remember when A.Co was at the Pentagon. I thank God for having the chance to meet you. You were a great soldier... and a great friend. Thank you & we all miss you.

Hi baby boy, I know you had an awesone birthday in heaven with Jesus. I could not celebrate your birthday just yet, maybe someday. I want so much to see you. Little Gage looks so much like you. You are one of a kind though, I guess thats why God wanted you back so soon. He just loaned you to us for awhile and it was so wonderful to have you even for so short a time. Words can't explain how much I miss and love you, so for now my tears will flow and someday when I get to heaven maybe then I can let you know. RIP Superman. I love you mom

Hey Chris, I wanted to wish you a Happy 27TH Birthday. We celebrated your and Zac's Birthday today. Zac is 21 now! I wanted so badly to hug you and wish you a Happy Birthday as in all the Birthdays of the past. Instead, we sent off balloons that had messages to you on them. We had a picnic at the Wall of Honor. Most all of our family were here. It was nice to have everyone together. We then all went to play Putt Putt for Zac's Party . . . just like old times. Remember all your party's of the past? The Electric Eagle, Skating, The Rodeo party, the one at Lake Texoma, The Backwards Birthday Party where everyone wore their clothes backwards. We had lots of fun. You were always so much FUN. I miss that. I MISS YOU!
So tonight I ask the Lord to hold you tight in His Arms and give you a Great Big Hug from your family. I Love You Chris and Miss You Terribly. I am Proud of you and please always know that your Legacy will live on forever. HAPPY 27TH BIRTHDAY ! I LOVE YOU
SO MUCH! MOM
