I didn't know you personally but I'm glad that the 377th commemorated you in such a way that current and future airman who get stationed there and drive down Griffin Avenue or see the amazing memorial for you in the guard mount room, will always know what it means to be a defender and what it means to be a brother/sister to their fellow defenders. Being stationed at Kirtland and getting to learn about you and your sacrifice inspired me to be the best damn airman I could be and for that I thank you. Today, seven years later... Never forgotten.

Just found out about Travis two months ago. I'm gonna miss his snickering grin as he rolled up his sleeves when faced with a difficult task. Of course, you knew Travis was also about to shed some humor, laughter and advice on how to get the job done that much better. My condolences to all of his family on this Memorial Day. To all our SF brothers and lsisters who were blessed in knowing such an awesome Airman and close bud.... Good to know you are all still keeping his memory and holding a place in your hearts for Travis.

I went to school with Travis back in Iceland. I didn't know him very well, as I was a few years younger than him. Tonight I looked through the pictures of Iceland Stephenie posted and a lot of memories hit me. He was funny. He was always very nice- I never saw him be mean to anyone or talk bad about anyone. I considered him a friend. He was a good guy then, and without a doubt grew into a good man. I keep you and your family in my prayers.

Griff, two years have passed now. I still remember where I was and what I was doing when I heard what happened. Of course I didn't believe it, and the pain never really goes away. But I don't like to think about what happened over there... what makes me laugh is thinking of you up at the LE Desk with your big dip in, legs kicked up, cracking jokes. I looked to you for guidance and called you almost on a daily basis. I remember one day it was pretty quiet up at the desk, we were sitting around, then you sent me and Sandoval to a fake duress call from a building. We searched all around base for the building number you sent us to... just to turn up right back at the LE Desk. When we asked over the radio if you were all secure, all we heard was laughing. Times like that is what makes me laugh today.

Tomorrow, marks the 2nd Anniversary of the passing of my friend Travis Griffin. In his death the world lost a true American hero.

I met Travis at Kirtland AFB. He worked for me as my Desk Sergeant. Through our time together, I came to respect him as a man and an outstanding NCO but more importantly I was proud to know him as a friend. After working for me for a bit, he transferred over to the training section of the unit. He told me that he wanted to ensure that everyone could benefit from his knowledge and experience gained through his numerous deployments to Iraq. His skills were certainly valuable and for selfish reasons I reluctantly signed his request to go to the training section. When he told me that he had volunteered to go back to Iraq again, I told him that he didn't need to that because he had already done enough. For those lucky enough to have met Travis, his desire to lead and his passion to serve was more than self-evident. Travis was the epitome of the Air Force Core Values of Integrity First, Service Before Self, and especially for Travis, Excellence in All We Do. For Travis, it wasn't enough that he trained the airmen, he wanted to lead them in combat as he felt that was where he could be the most effective.

For those of us that knew Travis, I don't have to tell you how he simply made us better in every way. To those that never met Travis, I wish you could know how this simple unselfish man inspired us. People like Travis are timeless and are always in demand. The world could surely use more people like him, especially now. Hopefully, we can inspire the people we meet in the same way that Travis did for us.

Travis, rest easy my brother, let us carry on your good work. Thanks for all you did and continue to do. You are a part of me and you will never be forgotten. It's an honor to have known you and to have been a part of your life.

To the Griffin family, the mourning of Travis will never end but hopefully the deep pain you felt has eased slightly. Hopefully, you can continue to find comfort in knowing that those of us that knew him still have great respect and admiration for him and you.

I knew Travis and Donnie in Iceland. They were quite the pair and always fun to be around. It was a small school and much like a family we all knew each other pretty well. I remember Travis and I were in wrestling together and he always kept the team unified and focused and enjoying each challenge. It was lovely to read your guestbook and see the legacy that in such a short time you have left for others to aspire to. Thank you for giving all you had and even more to help bring freedom and justice to a people that for so long were forgotten.
