Friday 7 May 2015
What day is it? The date? It's April, now almost May
I sense too much sadness about to wash over me again
Life takes a sharp, unexpected turn and I am at the corner
of grief and despair.
My friend is killed. He is not going to talk to me about
Swedish fish or Dr. Pepper-I can only hear our conversation
in my head and recall it as best I can. Between Tennessee and Georgia
we heated up the airwaves for a few brief minutes, and I see him
smiling, every bit of his face smiling.
A genuinely good human being. Loving, kind, dedicated, determined.
Courageous, caring, unique in the most positive sense of that word.
Blessed to have known him.
Eternally grateful he remains with us
in thought, heart and spirit. Seven, it's a seven! 2008-2015!!!

To Casey this day 7 May 2014

A Child of May is a Child of light.
The expression of possibility.
What is hoped for. What is dreamt.
May is color, the world is vibrant.
May cloaks itself in Lily of the Valley, a sign of sweetness and humility, a scent that is reluctant to leave, and gently reminds us of someone loved.
May in its beauty is become 31 days of reflection.
We are at once aware, anxious, anticipating a date that clings forever to our hearts. There is little we might do to ease the fears. We wait patiently for a different day to distance our thoughts, be at peace and take another breath.
It is our HERO whom we praise.
The person who forever is everything positive in life.
Thank you Casey Roberts.
Thank you for your service, your life and a zillion good thoughts...

7 May 2013 5 years
Remembrance. Recollection. Reminiscence. Retrospect. Thoughts.
It's May again.
Quickly the year is fled.
The pain in our hearts intense with the empty days we face. The delicate white bells of the lily of the valley appear from the tightly folded bright green leaves reminding us that May proposes the incredible highs and lows of life. The promise of hope and the truth of despair.
May is a month officially designated appreciation of the military. 31 days of awareness of the daily predicament of the human condition.
We cling to the bright eyes and sweet smiles through the sunshine that brightened life in the Red River valley we shared. Time perhaps has eased each day but we are forever left with the hurt, the void, the sadness the tears and the love. Memories, signs, reminders, photographs: we keep safely in our hearts.
No, there is little chance you will be forgotten. We journey on,
getting on with living and praying to experience joy and hear the laughter you brought to us-it is the music of our souls.
Peace, hope, wonder and love.

March 16, 2013

I saw a vehicle this morning with a Gold Star Spouse license plate and your name name on the rear glass. when I got to the office I looked you up online and found that you were 101 Airborne, FtCKy. I served with the 194 MP from 1990-1994, so I really do know where you came from and I am truly proud to say you were my Brother although we never met. Thank you for your service, dedication and sacrifice. It means more than you will ever recognize. To your wife, children and family I want to offer my deepest condolences. I am sorry they are so late. I think of each of you daily and pray for the safe return of all. If I can be of service to your family I encourage them to contact me. [email protected]

I just want to say that even though you are watching over all your family and friends, Curby still misses you greatly. By the stories he tells about the things you and him have done (which make me giggle), I wish I could have met you. You seem like you would be a really awesome brother-in-law. The anniversary of your passing is coming soon and even though you are gone physically, you will always be here spiritually and in the hearts of all that knew you. Please look over your mom, dad, and brothers especially (Curby included) and give them the strength to get through a day which they see as sorrow.

You are not forgotten!!!

I just wanted to let you know that I saw our family on the news receiving Christmas gifts. I am sure that you are in heaven and you were looking down and smiling while your wife and daughter shed tears of happiness to be blessed by the community. I pray that each year someone will keep them in mind and add more Christmas smiles to there faces. God is good and he supplies for his children. I know that the Lord will continue to send little angels there way. We will see you and all of the other heroes in heaven.

CREED OF THE INFANTRY
I am the Infantry.
I am my country's strength in war, her deterent in peace.
I am the heart of the fight, wherever, whenever.
I carry America's faith and honor against her enemies.
I am the Queen of Battle.
I am what my country expects me to be
the best trained soldier in the world.
In the race for victory,
I am swift,
determined,
and courageous,
armed with a fierce will to win.

Never will I fail my country's trust.
Always I fight on,
through the foe,
to the objective,
to triumph over all.
If necessary,
I fight to my death.
By my steadfast courage, I have won 200 years of freedom.
I yield not- to weakness,
to hunger,
to cowardice,
to fatigue,
to superior odds,
for I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight.

I forsake not-
my country,
my mission,
my comrades,
my sacred duty.
I am relentless.
I am always there,now and forever.
I AM THE INFANTRY!

Casey-
Just a year,365 away
We so wanted you to stay
To be with us as we begin each day

You brought such love and a beautiful smile
We prayed that you might stay a while
As you showed us life with grace and style

Here we stand at attention-in awe
Every nerve still painfully raw
This in defiance of any natural law

The wind whispered in a loud voice
We know it was God's choice
We are certain that angel's rejoice

For your presence there at heaven's gate
Assures us that you always rate
A special spot in a unique state

With hope we remain
Thinking of a time we will see you again.

Never to be forgotten

Thank you for paying the ultimate sacrifice so that America's children, the Iraqi children, and Afghanistan children can all have the opportunity of living with freedom. Freedom to pursue their hopes and dreams away from the grasp of intimidation and terror.

Yours was a selfless act. You were always a quiet professional who let your actions speak for you, and you displayed maturity beyond your years in your leadership.

May God Bless you and your family and keep them in His everlasting arms,

Janaury 7, 2009-Casey- 8 months, 2/3rds of a year, yet it seems just a few moments ago-time is such an odd phenomenon. We embrace one another spiritually and still try to comprehend. We love you. We miss you.
Sometimes the world does seem to be at odds with itself and with us. We will have faith that it will be righted and that the topsy turvy will not be as constant as it is now. There are many situations which are unbalanced. If we continue to love and help one another this will always get us through any adversity.
Love is a surprise, it comes upon us in the most unexpected times and places. Thank you for having shared your love. God bless you. Rev. Liz

While I didn't know Sergent Roberts personally, I know that he served our comunity with honor as a volunteer fire fighter and took his selflessness one step further by serving this nation. He died for something greater than himself, for people that, for the most part, will never know what he did for them or what he left behind.
I will not forget your sacrifice, I will honor you and the rest of our fallen heros by always cherishing the freedoms I enjoy, freedoms purchased with the blood of brave young men and women like Sergent Roberts. Rest in Peace Sergent.

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

To the family and parents of Kevin I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you.

Casey,
I just wanted to let you know that your Niece thought of you and wanted to send you a Father's Day card. She was worried you would be mad at here if she didn't make you one. Happy Father's Day. Love you and miss you so much!

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

Good morning my lovely friends-so many prayers go out today for all that will be. Thinking of your daily walk and praying extra hard for steps that will steady you and make this path just a little easier to go. Thinking always of Casey and how he reminds us so often of his being here with us.
My life is but a weaving
Between my God and me.
I do not choose the colors,
But God works steadily.
Often God weaves sorrow,
And I, in foolish pride,
Forget God sees the top
While I the underside.
Not until the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas
And explain the reasons why.
But, the dark threads are as needful
In the skillful weaver's hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern God has planned.

To The Three Musketeers-I thought of you today, I thought of you yesterday and will undoubtedly think of you tomorrow. Your courage and beauty are inspiring and the sound of your laughter lights up the night. I think of Casey and this poem comes to mind. His goodness shines and that is fantastic.
Footprints In Our Hearts
Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some people move our souls to dance.
They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom.
Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon.
They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints in our hearts, and we are never, ever the same again. Author Unknown

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Roberts was a great soldier. He made a lasting impression from the first day he got at the "Maddogs". It was an honor to have served with him and known him.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Kevin, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

It seams like yesterday that Casey was planning that float for the fire department or chasing down smoke so he could help to put a fire out. It is hard to believe that he is gone. Casey was a good man and He always cared about helping people. I am sorry that this world has lost a man as good as Casey. Please accept my deepest sympathies. Rember now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.
