We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Rainey Family know that we just made a small donation to the Gary Sinise Foundation in honor of Pruitt A, Rainey US Army Corporal. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. Pruitt was my freind. We shared many of poker hands. Pruitt was like a brother to me and I will always miss him. That day in afghanistan was the worst day of my life. I wish nothing but the best for his freinds and family. His memory will live on in my heart for the rest of my career.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of Cpl. Pruitt A. Rainey, and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of freedom and liberty. Sadly, America has lost one of its finest heroes, the U.S. has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage, which they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Cpl. Pruitt A. Rainey has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family and friends, of Cpl. Pruitt A. Rainey, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to carry on. Just as you were always with him when he was deployed overseas, know that he will always be with you wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Cpl. Pruitt A. Rainey is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Cpl. Pruitt A. Rainey the flag of the United States of America has your blood sewn into the fabric; it shall wave forever in your honor.

Freedom requires sacrifice the protected will never know.

Puitt, its still not real, not fair, not right that it was you. I miss those days where you would spend all day at our house, or seeing you at church, playing halo, going sledding on a shut down golf course, you satying over at our house in the tan reclining chair, or getting IM's from you in italy. I remember you bringing your Chipper Jones cards over and i begged you and begged you to give me them, you promised to take me to a baseball card shop, which i so much wish we could now. But i still have those cards.I wouldnt get rid of them for the world. but what i think i miss most is you being there for my sister. there wasnt a thing in this world that wouldnt do for her.
I miss you more than anything, but i know im going to be with you again soon, i just hate the delay in our relationship. I love you.

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

To the family Pruitt A. Rainey,
I wish to express my condolences for your loss. I know the pain you and so many families of Chosen Company are going through now. I lost my son from Chosen Company’s second platoon in January. My son was proud and honored to be able to serve with the heroes of the 173rd. Their legacy will live on with their brothers-in-arms, family, friends and a grateful nation. Today in the prayers of our church we prayed for Matthew and his recently fallen comrades. Though all of this pain, I can imagine a joyful reunion of these brave men in heaven.

To the family and parents of Pruitt I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you.

To the Rainey family,

My brother sent me an email about the "9". I read it and Googled Pruitt's name and found this site. Why I am writing I do not know? You have lost a son, a brother, grandson, uncle, perhaps husband and father. I don't knoiw all there is to know about Pruitt. You have my deepest symapthy and gratitude for the service and sacrifice that Pruitt made on behalf of his family and all of us who live here in this country. My prayer for Pruitt is that Father would receive him into His loving arms, wipe away every tear and whisper gently into his ear, " Well done good and faithful servant, my son, I am proud of you." and for you his family left here without Pruitt in your midst in the flesh, May Father open the storehouse of heaven and pour out His blessings upon you, may He strengthen you in your weakness and comfort you in your sorrow. May His Peace that passes all understanding surround you and remain with you all the days of your lives.

Pruitt answered the call of his country, knowing that he might have to give the ultimate sacrifice, but not expecting it, but he didn't run from it, be proud!

The Lord bless you and keep you, The Lord make his fae to shine upon you, The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and grant you Peace.

From one Rainey to another!!

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to CPL Pruitt A. Rainey our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Pruitt. And to Pruitt it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made in combat while serving the U.S. Army and his country. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Pruitt, you are a brave Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,409 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Pruitt’s family and loved ones.
