Brandon,. I've known about your sacrifice since shortly after it happened. You and I were friends in elementary school, but I never forgot about our agreement to meet up in Montana when we grew up. I miss you, man. I'm heart broken that we won't be meeting up in Montana. I'm sorry to you and your family that I couldn't have been there for you.
To your family: I'm so sorry for your loss. After 30 years, I still consider him my best friend as if a day hasn't gone by. I can't think about Brandon without tearing up. Even as a kid, he was an awesome friend. There is not a day that goes by that I haven't thought about him. We are all very lucky to have had him I'm our lives. We are all very unfortunate to have lost him. I'm sorry.

B- It doesn't seem real that 7 years ago you left your earthly body & gained a new body in heaven. 7 years what felt like the end of our lives was only the beginning of the years to come without you. What an honor to know such an incredible man who really laid down his life for me. I miss you everyday from the day you left this earth. From the days of you dragging us out with you so you didn't have to go out alone or you waking us up on Saturday mornings to go hang out by the pool. Your voice, your smile, and most importantly you are MISSED. I cannot wait to meet you again. I'll continually cheer on those BOOMER SOONERS...thanks for introducing me to the team. See you again Soon!

7 years ago today you came under attack, I remember the news like it was yesterday. It still breaks my heart to think about your last days/hours and what you went through. I know you fought hard. I celebrate you, your life and am so blessed to have been your sister.

My brother, not a day goes by that I don't think about you. It was an honor to have known you and to serve with you for almost two years. Without a doubt, September 17 2008 was the saddest day of my life. I'm sure you know, that I named my first born son Brandon Wade, in honor of your memory. I pray that the lord allows my son to grow up to be as honorable of a man as you were. Until we meet again,

I've been thinking about you so much lately. It's crazy how so much time can go by and things can be ok then there are those days that you are EVERYWHERE. Those days that you fill my mind all day and night. I even saw an OU mailbox the other day and had to laugh because I was thinking about you at the time I saw it. I have to laugh at myself sometimes for writing to you on here. I see you so much in my dreams but I never get to say what I need to. It's almost comforting thinking that maybe you check this page... that you read our words. Silly I know...but I know you are LOL'ing it up in heaven :) I miss your smile, I miss your hugs... I miss you. You are always with us all. You always were so protective and I know you still are.... love you

The flag is flying in the sky
A daily reminder of who and why
We sit here remembering them today
These heroes that now lie in their grave.

While here on earth, the bravest ones
A soldier, a mother, a daughter, a son
The father's who went far off to war
To ensure our safety and so much more

To keep our children happy and free,
Someone must do this job, you see
So, today remember the soldiers who served,
Because this is one thing they truly deserve.

The loved one's that they have left behind,
The Gold Star mothers, like your and mine
We honor them proudly, every day
Our American Soldier...Proud and Brave
By Shannon Williams-Austill

I want to thank this soldier for their sacrifice.
And, I wish to extend my deepest regards to the loved ones they have left behind. Their service to our nation, has not gone unnoticed. They are our heroes, who paid the ultimate price for us, and that is something that every American needs to be reminded of and remember everyday.
The freedom we all have, we have because of brave young men and women who made a choice to defend and serve.
Today, let me remember your loved one with you.

Broadway High School Football Team

September 30, 2009

To the family and friends of Brandon Farley,

I am the head football coach at Broadway High School (Virginia). Each week our team plays in honor of a fallen soldier. On September 18th, our team played in honor of Brandon. Each week, we post a soldiers name, picture, and a brief biography on the fallen soldier, on each player's locker. This is a great way to honor the bravest people in the world, while teaching our players that life is much bigger than football. Our football family would like you to know that it was an honor and privilege to honor your son and friend. I hope that it brings joy into your life to know that Brandon's life continues to inspire people. Thanks.

Highland Springs HS Football Team

September 17, 2009

I am a high school football coach in Richmond, Virginia and each week our team chooses a member of the armed services to dedicate our game to. Each week we choose someone who lost their life one year ago on the date of the game. We dedicate our effort for that week to the memory of someone who gave their life so that we can play the game that we all love. This week(9-18-09) Staff Sgt. Brandon Farley is our “champion” of the week. The football team at Highland Springs High School wanted Mr. Farley’s family and friends to know that we appreciate everything that he stood for and will honor his memory this week, with our effort, attitude, pride, and unselfishness just as he did for us and all Americans. Thank you and God Bless.

Remembering you and all of our soldiers this weekend. We think of you all the time but this is a special weekend for you all. Love and miss you dearly...

May 19, 2009

I was Brandon's Platoon Sergeant at 1st LAR from 1999-2000 at Camp Pendleton CA. My Thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. Brandon was an outstanding Marine and a pleasure to be around. There are people that you meet in this world that you just know immediately that God put them in your life for a reason. Brandon was one of those people. He never had anything bad to say about anyone and was always ready and willing to help a friend or anyone else that needed it. He didn't complain about being in the trenches or doing the undesirable things the military had in store for him, he just did it. Again, for me and my family our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of Staff Sergeant Brandon W. Farley.

Brandon: You will be missed brother. As cliche as this is... Thank you for your service to your country. You are the man!

Rest in peace my friend, your duty is done, and if we should ever meet again, I will gladly take up your fight and stand at your side, for we are American fighting men!

To the family and friends of Staff Sgt. Brandon Farley:

I do computer work at a large university in Texas supporting student-use computers. Every semester break, we clean out our lost and found drawer.

Today I came across a CD full of pictures, stamped 9/29/08 with several thumbnails on the front. We usually discard lost-and-found CDs, but I'm a curious sort so I looked a little closer at the thumbnails printed on the disk - lots of pics of an infant and proud parents - so I popped the disk in and clicked through some pics, hoping to find some identifying information, figuring new mom and dad would want these pics, as there are a lot.

About halfway through, this picture came up and I heard myself mutter: "Oh, no".

Clicking slower, and choking up. The firemen. The cheeleaders. The EMTs and cops. The Patriot Guard Riders were awesome. The service looked beautiful. I had already decided to track down thw family of this soldier - a kid I'd never known or heard of until 20 minutes ago, and make sure they have these pictures.. then then uniformed salute and sunset-backed flag at half-mast just about made me lose it.

Googling "SSgt. Brandon W. Farley" produces quite a bit of output. Brandon was obviously very well liked and loved by those around him.

If anyone recognizes this photo CD as yours, or belonging to someone you know, please contact me at the email address I provided Legacy.com. I will make sure it gets back to you.

And to Brandon: just the short message I've been told by those who serve, like to hear from those of us who don't:

THANK YOU.

Brandon; I've tried to write before but the tears wouldn't allow it. You were my first Born. I remember riding around in the truck with you standing beside me when you were 3or4 years old. I also remember the time I took you fishing when you were about 4yrs. old. You were wearing a brand new pair of shoes, I heard a kerplunk, looked back and you had 1 shoe on. I didn't tell you how much I loved you and needed you when I could have or should have. I'm telling you now Brandon I love you with all my heart. My Grandparents raised me after my father died. Grandpa and Granny Wade lost two Sons and a Son-in-Law within Five years. I don't know how they delt with all the pain. I love you Brandon and I'll miss you always. Thank you for being my Son. Your father Wade.

In memory of my precious Brandon, I visited your grave site, yesterday. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day enthroned with God's love, peace and comfort....as only a Father can do. Tears were shed because of the love for you, deep within my heart. Some of the last parting words we shared ,"Brandon, if anything ever happens to you, I do not want to live". With the highest integrity of a brave, honourable son, you replied, " You've got three other children to think about". That was a gentle reprimand that was deserving. But still, a part of me has died. My heart will at best try and heal, but it will never, never be the same. You see, the love God gave me for you was deeply ingrained in my whole being. It cannot be separated but will one day eternally flow together with you. The memories I hold of you will be cherished, beginning when we came home from the hospital together, and you weighed in at 7lbs. and 14oz. A bundle of joy that brought much joy to this mother's heart. Time would ease by, and hard trials would come.The divorce troubled you, greatly. That sorrow I carry is locked up in a part of my heart, forever. My prayer is that forgiveness will wipe away every hurt and pain that was caused by that. The tenderness and sensitivity of your heart was revealed many, many times, to me. Thank-you, Brandon Wade Farley, for the highest honour a mother could ever receive in experiencing "unconditional love" for her precious, precious son. Your Mom......Sherry Lynn Farley.

To our dear Brandon,
I thought of you a lot today. I think of you every day, but for some reason more today than others. I am so torn that you were taken away from us so soon. It just doesn't seem fair. I would give anything just to have that bear hug from you one more time. The only thing that gets us through this all is knowing that you were doing what you wanted to do and that you are in a better place right now watching over us. You are always in my heart, I love you.

To the family and parents of Brandon I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Sherry, Wade, Corey, Lauren and Ashlynn and family members
My soul feels your pain in losing such a wonderful young man. I never met the man Brandon became but I do recall the sweet young boy from Mt Vernon Texas and the times my children and yours played together. In looking at this picture posted on his Guest Book he still had that beautiful smile. I also took time to read each persons reflection of their memory of him and was deeply touched at his sacrifice in so many ways while he was here. He truly touched so many lives. I know that heaven must have needed your "Hero" for God called him to "Come Home". I will lift you all up in prayer at this time and the days ahead. I pray God will give you strength and that you will hold to what is true and that this will not break your spirit but that it will become stronger with the memories of the wonderful young man your son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend became because of the gifts you instilled in him. He too was a part of each of you and remember that. God Bless You All at this time. With much love and prayers.
In Christ,

Brandon, you will be missed more than words can ever describe. You were far away from your family in another country, defending our freedom, and fighting for your life and the lives of your fellow soldiers. I will miss getting to know you better, watching you grow into a fine man. It will be hard for those left behind, with the memory of your passing. However, the memory that still moves me, a sight I have never seen, is the respect shown to you on the streets of Idabel Ok. People, friends, loved ones, lined each side of every road you passed, the amount of people was staggering. Some held signs with HERO proudly displayed, many hands were placed upon hearts, showing the honor deserving of a fallen hero. I will never forget that moment as long as I live.

Your Uncle,

Dear Sweet Brandon,
I look back through my memories and see the smiling, sweet little boy who loved to wear his coonskin cap and play Davy Crockett, and as I gaze upon the handsome, brave young man who gave his life for us all, tears wash my face for they are one in
the same. Brandon, you had such a kind, good heart. You loved deeply and were loyal and true: Your family and friends testified to that. They came from all over, and those who couldn't --those who were scattered over country and continents, some still serving to protect us--had only the highest praise for you. Thank you, Sugar, for loving us; thank you! I know He kept you in the storm and kept you where the rocky path was torn, your boots finished the race in triumph! Your strength and steady step leads us up to the summits; you have gone before. Another precious reason to focus our eyes heavenward. Love, Aunt Kris

To the Farley family,

I know there are no words to say, except how sorry I am for your loss. May you hold Brandons' memory in your heart and please remember he shall never be forgotten.

...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

Brandon,
I sit here and all I can think of is you. I'm still in denial about the fact that I am never going to see you again. It just doesn't seem fair. It breaks my heart that your niece and nephews will never see you again, although I know you will be looking down on them and watching them grow. They will never forget who their uncle Brandon is, we will make sure of that.
We all agreed that you wouldn't have wanted to go any other way. The love and support that we got from the community was amazing. It was so touching. I know you were smiling down on us that day and thinking, heh this is exactly what I wanted! It was so fitting for such a hero. You will never be forgotten.
Thank you for fighting for me, your family, your friends and this country. You were doing what most of us wouldn't dare do. For that, I admire you. You will always be in my heart. Love forever and ever...Brandy

Thank you for the courage and paying the ultimate price. I have two sons in the military, and each day as the parent(s) is a blessing to know they are alive. I can't imagine the pain you must feel, but know Brandon is a soldier, and all Americans should be grateful to him and his family.

Brandon, god bless you soldier and thank you for your service to a greatful nation, forever we will mourn you and those fallen comrades both before and after you. On 5/6/08 my nephew PFC Aaron J. Ward was KIA in Iraq while on a routine patrol. My promise to him was to never forget him but also those fallen before and after him. When I made this promise to him the day we laid him to rest I did not realize how often I would need to make entrys on Legacy and it just breaks my heart knowing so many other family's have and will feel the pain that our family has now had to endure. I will pray for you Brandon and the Farley family and hope that god helps you cope with this tragic loss. I stand tall soldier and salute you, for you will forever be in my heart and my prayers.
