Just learned of Jason's passing from a book I read. I went to school with him in Dam Neck back in '97. He was a funny and energetic guy and couldn't wait to become a SEAL. I am honored to have known Jason. Rest in Peace.

I knew Jason in BUD/s and served with him in two consecutive Bravo Platoon tours at SEAL Team THREE. Jason was a brother with unquestioned loyalty, accountability and integrity to all who worked with him. He was an outstanding operator who was constantly setting/raising the standard for everyone around him. I am honored to have known and served with Jason. Rest in Peace 50.

Jason was one of my guys in Bravo Platoon at SEAL Team Three when I did my Platoon Chief tour. He became one of my closest friends, and I miss him dearly. He was an Oustanding Operator, and I am proud to have known and served with him. Rest in Peace 50.

To see an American flag flying; to hear the National Anthem playing; to see military planes/helicopters soaring creates a sense of patriotism that can't be ignored deep within my heart. Especially since I've been able to be a mere civilian standing among heroes.
When did Jason become a hero? He became a hero the moment he decided to defend the United States' freedom, the moment he started to train mentally and physically, the moment he put on his uniform, the moment he said goodbye to his family after deploying for the first time and finally, the moment he gave the ultimate sacrifice to the United States of America.
Jason, I thank you everyday. I thank you for helping keep my family, friends and I safe day after day and for allowing us to live in freedom. I thank you for being able to call myself an American.
I visit you at Arlington every-other Friday and each visit is the same; to look down at a tombstone for a man of such strength and then to look up at the thousands of tombstones of soldiers fallen before you, makes me feel that you've entered the home of heroes.
I thank you, Freiwald family for the bravery that you've instilled within each other. Please know you have people around the entire United States praying and grieving your tremendous loss. My prayers and thanks are with you.

I was in 'A' school in the Navy with Jason Friewald and he was a great guy! I remember all of the good laughs we had back then. I pray for his family and I know that he will never be forgotten. Over ten years later and I still remember his smiling face and the way he protected the girls in 'A' school and how he never gave into peer pressure. He always use to say that he was going to be a SEAL and that he had to take care of his body so he never drank or smoked. God bless him for his sacrifice. He is missed by so many.

There are no words to express how incredibly proud we are of Jason and the ultimate sacrifice he made to secure our freedom, yet in so many ways his loss touches each and every one of us. Even though I only got to meet Jason a few times during the holidays when our families got together, it was such a huge honor to listen to the stories he shared about the Navy Seal training he went through. It takes a special kind of person to serve our wonderful country but it takes an extraordinary person to go those extra steps to do the special ops type things our Navy Seals do. It is with great pride and the deepest sympathy that our lives were touched by Jason. We send out our greatest condolences and love to his wife and daughter... never forget that he is with you always. Every night you go to bed, Jason will kiss you on the cheek and you will know he is laying next to you. To his mom and dad; our thoughts and prayers are with you always. Your tears may hurt now but know Jason's death was not in vane, for he will forever be our "HERO"... Jason will be remembered for being a wonderful son, a great husband, a proud father and a man that gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country. He was a Navy Seal! Jason was a great young American who would have been enormously successful in any venue. He elected to serve, which speake volumes about his character. In a great country like the United States you find many great people. Although I had met Jason only three times during holidays I can confidently say he was one of those Great people. Since I found out about Jason, my heart, thoughts, love, and prayers have been with the Freiwald family. Jason was the first of the grandkids in the Friewalds I got to practice sort of babysitting on. That gave me the confidence to work with more kids. I now use that confidence in our school systems for work. I am so honored to have even spent the little time with him as a youth and to know that then and now I was with greatness. I grew up as a family friend of the Dick and Carolyn Freiwald, and because of that, I can't even write this short note without crying...... I would like to express my deepest sympathy for the Freiwald family. I feel so privileged to have known such amazing people that have shown me so much hospitality, kindness, and friendship throughout the years. I cannot explain how much I want to thank Jason for fighting to protect the freedom of our nation. I will never forget how much I owe to Jason and the Freiwald family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Jason, I want to thank you for the brave sacrifice you made so I can continue to have my freedom, you shall never be forgotten. to Jason's family I am so sorry for the loss of Jason, I know above being an American Hero, Jason is your family and my heart breaks for you all. we dont know eachother but are now forever joined as my nephew PFC Aaron J Ward age 19 while serving in Iraq on May 6 2008 was also added to the long list of American Hero's who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation's continued freedom. may God bless us all and protect the so many other soldiers still fighting. rest in Peace Jason and know that America Love's you....

Although I never met Jason, I feel like I have gotten know him through Jeremy and his stories. It is impossible to express the sorrow I feel for the Freiwald family; you are all in my thoughts throughout every single day. Thank you, Jason, for your honorable and fearless service to our country. As you can see, your legacy has touched the hearts of people, like myself, whom you didn't even know. My most sincere condolences to the Freiwald family. My love and prayers go out to you.
