To the family of PFC Roberge I forgot to change the name and added Albert I think when I was leaving a messenge forgive me for that I meant to say Roberge that I was making a quilt to honor your son. Lack of sleep makes me sometime forget that I need to move on to the next family and let them know that I also care for them. I'm hoping with the grace of God to reach all of the families and let them know that we care and hopefully if we have the right address send them a quilt. God bless and take care

Freedom! What do you think of when you hear the word freedom? My cousin Jonathan Roberge was killed in Mosul, Iraq. He taught me and many other people that “freedom does not come free”. You see many famous people on postal stamps I would like to see my cousin Johnny on a stamp for 2 very good reasons he was patriotic and fought for us and he had a great personality.
Jonathan was 22 years old when he and four other great men gave up their lives for many people to have freedom. He was a Private in the Army’s 81st Armored Battalion. He should be on a postal stamp because he gave his life for us. In the family no one had ever been or had anything to do with the army. He wanted to be a police man but then realized that being in the army would make a better difference in the world. He knew what he wanted to do in life and how he was going to do it. A word to describe Johnny would be patriotic because he loved his country and wanted to make a difference.
You can say that Johnny had a great personality. He always had a beaming smile that light up the whole room. I heard a story about him, his mom would go for walks by down town and they could not go home without Johnny going to see the fire trucks my auntie Susan used to babysit him and she said that he used to cry a lot but the minute his mommy came in he would shut right up.
As you can tell people do a lot for us like Jonathan. That’s why I want him to be on a postal stamp. And, do not forget in our country we enjoy the freedom but think, people like Jonathan and others gave the biggest sacrifice, life to keep the U.S free.

i luv my cousin so much and may we all rember that he was loved every were and that he is lookin ova us "johnny i know that u can hear me i got 3 hockey goals for you and a home run hope to c u LOVE YOU SO MUCH

Jonathan, God bless you soldier and thank you for your brave and honorable service to a grateful nation and for paying the ultimate price for our freedom.. You are now in great company with God and so many other fallen heroes before and after you. On 5/6/08 my nephew PFC Aaron J. Ward was killed in action in Iraq and my final promise to him was to never forget him and our fallen hero’s, we will never forget their commitment and sacrifice. To the Roberge family, words cannot express the pain we now share, but our families will forever have a bond and we will be thinking of Jonathan and your family and will keep you in our thoughts & prayers. Since the loss of my nephew I have written on every single legacy page of every fallen soldier and included a photo of my nephew. I encourage you to do the same to Aaron's page. I have done this to honor my nephew but to let you know your loved one is not alone and my nephew is with him and they are now in God's gracious hands waiting for us to join them one day. From the bottom of my heart please except my sincere condolences and may the memories of your Hero carry you through each day for he will never be forgotten!

April 19, 2009

Jonny Ro, today I am thinking about you once again.
I know that you are one of God's angels watching over us now, along with the rest of our family.

To the Roberge family,

I know there are no words to say, except how sorry I am for your loss. May you hold Jonathans' memory in your heart and please remember he shall never be forgotten.

...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

To Jonathan's family,

I was not fortunate enough to be honored with knowing Jonathan, but he was a part of the Leominster family and, as such, I still feel his loss as much as if I had known him. May God bless all of you and I pray that He gives you the strength and courage to get through this difficult time. Our lost ones shine in God's light, though it is us left behind who falter in the dark wondering how to go on without them. Revel in the knowledge that he is a hero and will forever be on a pedestal of high esteem and reverence for giving our country the ultimate sacrifice of his life. We all cannot thank him enough for everything he did serving for our safety.

Dear Pauline,John & Family;
May God bless you and your family during this sad time.I know things will be difficult for a while but I promise they will get better. Not because you forget, but because you remember all the good times. Peace be with you and yours. I have enclosed a few poems I hope will help.
I'M In A Better Place
Mom and Dad, please don't worry about me cause I'm in a better place.
Heaven is beautiful and it is full of God's grace.
I know you are hurting because you miss me.
But please don't stop living because I am happy and free.
Don't be too sad because I am in a much better place.
The war was horrific and I am with Jesus whom now I embrace.
You just can't imagine the things that I see.I am with my war buddies and we are finally free.
Don't give up because you know I am in a better place.
God has prepared my mansion up here in this space.
There is no pain and there are no more tears.
God has taken away all of my fears.
Do spread the word that I am in my Heavenly home.
Please let everybody know that I am not alone.
I see all my loved ones and there is always light.
There are angels everywhere and Jesus is just in sight.
Mom and Dad, I'll be here waiting to see you someday.
But you know I died for freedom and the US of A.
Please know that Jesus is just a prayer away.
Just pass around the word that he will be coming back one day.

A Letter Down From Heaven

I'm living up in Heaven now; this soldier made it home,
The scenery here is beautiful and I am not alone.
For I am now surrounded by the angels of the Lord,
And living in a mansion that the wealthy can't afford.
But just before I made it in, I walked through gates of pearl,
God's messengers had welcomed me into my brand new world.
And as I walked in through the gates, they greeted me by name,
They said,"You are a soldier and the Lord is glad you came".
"He saw you on the battlefield, the bloodshed and the wounds",
"And God said you were coming so we then prepared more room".
You must know I was overwhelmed at what the angels said,
For there I was in Heaven and my earthly body dead.
But mourn for me no more because I'm happy as can be,
I died to give you freedom; now the Lord has made me free.
And I do not regret the day I bled and died for you,
For I am a U.S. Soldier; to this country I am true.
Much pain that I endured was long forgotten at the gate,
I suffered not in vain for you and the United States.
The ones who went before and the ones who'll go one day,
Will not remember battle scars when they have seen God's face.
Our country's worth the fighting and was surely worth my death,
For we were called America to stand out from the rest.
Don't take this life for granted for my death has guaranteed,
That you can live as many can't, to live as you believe.
Support the ones I left behind; they'll fight at the command,
For next to God,they're your best friend, to lend a helping hand.
But really they're not lending, for in all they do they give,
And take attacks and shed their blood, so you, my friends, may live.
So if you're not a soldier, keep a soldier in your prayers,
A soldier needs to know that you're supporting them out there.
For dusty are the battlefields and hot is blazing sun,
But great is your reward when every soldier's race is run.
So be content and know that I am walking streets of gold,
And listening to the angels sing, and safe within God's fold.
My friends, this place is wonderful, a place I can't describe,
And I'll be waiting here for you the day that you arrive.
Now don't forget my soldier friends, as they must carry on,
Until the day their work is done and God has called them home.
I'm glad that I am with the Lord, for He makes life worth living,
Just know a soldier sent to you this letter down from Heaven.

May God keep you in his ever loving arms and guide forward each day. Call if you need anything, Rita has our contact number. All our Love;
Dan, Corinne & Tiffany Thibodeau

To the parents and family, I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to heal you as He gives comfort to you today.

It is always hard to hear of a classmate passing away. To remember them so young and free. Reading Johnnys accomplishments as a soldier are truly enlightening and empowering. He was a true hero. Hearing this news and being military myself, it makes me proud to serve my country, and proud of John for defending it with me.
So thank you John. For being a great classmate, friend, and American Hero.
Gob bless your family and all of your friends. I wish i was home to say goodbye, but Im sure you hear this...

To The Roberge Family,

Please know that you are all in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers during the most difficult time of your lives. Your precious son is A HERO...but you already know this. Remember that his life did not really end, but rather it has changed. He will forever be with you. Seek comfort through God. He will help you through this. I know that you feel you were robbed...but try to remember the laughter, the silly times, and everything that made your son who he was and I promise you, you will smile again! We Thank You for your son and for his service to OUR Country.

May God's peace be with you.

To The Family,
Just wanted to say how very sorry we are for your loss, words alone cannot help the pain we go through in losing a child people say it will get better with time, but we just learn to live with a large piece of our heart missing.
Our Son Mark 32 years old a Marine made it back from Iraq just to be in a traffic accident and lost his life 2007 he was also proud to wear the uniform and planned to make a career.
Your Son is another hero who has joined the ranks of God's Angel's

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To the Roberge Family,
Jonathan's life, cut short so tragically, says so very much about his family and of course, himself. Jon's patriotic idealism and love for God and family truly gives full context to the term "All American" boy. His decision to serve his country, was a selfless act of volunteerism, distinguishing him from ninety-five percent of his peers. Jon knew his committment required a devotion to duty, that could cost him his life, but still he chose to serve freedom's cause.
What Jon probably hadn't yet realized is how much time and energy his family had invested in his well being. The worry, the writing, the mailing, the praying, the promises, the hopes and the dreams for his safe return.
In an instant, sudden devastating news of Jon's paying the "ultimate sacrifice", had snuffed it out!
Hearts broken, words fail to comfort what only time will heal.
But there is solace knowing that Jesus' promised salvation for he who gives his life in defense of his brother. Jonathan is an American patriot of uncommon valor.
Our best and brightest citizens have always protected us, because they are brought up in God fearing and reverent homes like the Roberge's and communities like Leominster, throughout our great nation.
God bless all of our servicemen and servicewomen stationed around the world.
Taps have played. Reveille is called. Welcome home hero!

Dear Roberge Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I had Jonathan as a student at L.H.S. When I heard of his passing all I could think of was his contagious smile and good spirit. He was a great kid, the kind all teachers like to have in their classes.
Jonathan, thank you for your service! I am so proud to have played a role in your life and YOU ARE MY AMERICAN HERO.
