Hello,
We apologize for being so late in expressing our deepest condolences to you and your family. We want you to know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Brian M. Bunting US Army Captain.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

I meet on a committee weekly at West Point under a wall with photos of seventeen engineering grads headed "Our Fallen Graduates." All semester I've kept gazing at Brian's face and just loving that big grin. So I decided to read a bit about him online, and what I learned confirms just what I thought, based on that picture. I never met him, but I wish I had. Please accept my sympathy and my love. He was a beautiful person.

Deae Son, As I stand here by your grave and on this hollow ground, it is a stark reminder what price we have to pay for our freedom. My heart is heavy with sadness and my body is filled with grief and pain. When on that terrible morning that I got the news you were kiied on the battlefield in Afghanistan, I ask God why you, why would God take someone so young and so much to offer in life, why not me. As I cried and the Army Chaplin gave me comfort, I knew God had chosen the best man to carry out his plan. Every morning before I leave for work, I go into the room that I have your pictures and medals and there is a sense of tranquility that seems to lift me up and gets me through the day.You were a terridic father, husband, brother, son, a True American Hero but most of all you were just a great human being. You have two wonderful sons in Connor & Copper and I know with your's and Nicki guiding hands, your sons will be as great as there father is. You have laid a strong foundation for that to happen. Nicki is a wonderful mother and ther is know doubt that your sons will know who there father was and what type of person he truly was and how you touch the hearts of so many. Your mother and I had six wonderful children and I thank God everyday. You will be in my heart forever son and as a father I was truly bless by God to have you in my life. You truly made the world a better place for all of us to enjoy the freedom we have. Rest in Peace and my God Bless You. You will Never Be Forgotten. Love Pops

To the Bunting Family, we have never met but I work with Sue Bunting at Northwest High School. I was supposed to walk the 5K but never made it due to the fact that I found out that I have cancer again. Nicki, you have been an inspiration to me and to all. Brian, you would be exceptionally proud of her and what she has accomplished. I wished that I could have met you but I will meet Nicki one of these day. God Bless You All.

I'm terribly sorry I only learned about the Brian Bunting 5K run after the fact - this is something i would've greatly enjoyed participating in. Will certainly take part in the future if held again.
CPT Bunting, you are an American hero, as are all who rest in Arlington National Cemetery's sacred SECTION 60. This nation is stronger due to your efforts and bravery. Words cannot express how indebted we are to you and your family. All of you are America's finest. I promise I will stop and pay homage to you every time I am at SEC 60. All of you are amazing heroes. I promise that none of you will ever be forgotten. That is my pledge to you. Nobody in that area will ever be alone. Not for a second. A nation's eternal love for its most sacred heroes will always permeate those grounds. I promise you that.

Brian, I just wanted to say thank you for your brave and honorable service to a grateful nation. Like so many others you have volunteered to serve our country and protect the vary freedom America was built on. Please know Brian that you like so many other fallen brother and sisters in arms that you will never be forgotten and you are heroes to us all. My nephew PFC Aaron J. Ward also paid the ultimate price on 5/6/08 while on a routine patrol in Anbar Province as an MP. His unit was ambushed and came under small arms fire and he was taken from us. Not a day goes by that I do not think of him and all our brave heroes serving in our armed services. I stand tall and salute you Brian and will forever honor the memory of you along with my nephew. To the Bunting family words cannot express enough the pain both our families now must endure and my prayer is that the memory of your brave hero carry you through each day as you cope with this tragic loss. Since the loss of my nephew I have written on every single legacy page of every fallen soldier and included a photo of my nephew. I encourage you to do the same to Aaron's page. I have done this to honor my nephew but to let you know your loved one is not alone and my nephew is with him and they are now in God's gracious hands waiting for us to join them one day. From the bottom of my heart please except my sincere condolences and may the memories of your Hero carry you through each day for he will never be forgotten!

But I salute you; allow me the honor

I salute you.

To the parents and family, I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to heal you as He gives comfort to you today and for the rest of your lives.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Capt Brian Bunting our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Brian. And to Brian it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Brian, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,409 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Brian’s family and loved ones.

Dear Bunting Family,
My wife, Charliese, and I send our sincerest condolences. We got to know Bubba and his wonderful family during our years at Bullis (1992-1996). After the shock of the sad news began to subside, the first memory that came to mind was Bubba's infectious smile and his genuinely warm and welcoming personality. Although he was taken from form his family and friends much too soon, the impact he had on all of us will live on forever, just as his great smile (a smile he inherited from both his wonderful parents, Penny and Bob) was the first thing we remembered. We will continue to include you in our prayers as you deal with this tragic loss.
Sincerely,

Bubba was a true inspiration for those who followed him. I was a few years behind him at Bullis, but he was well known and respected by all. One of those rare individuals who just "had it", and could effortlessly meet the highest expectations and live up to the highest standards. His legacy is one of honor, selflessness, and dedication, and it inspires all of us to be better than we may believe possible. I am so proud of Bubba for his achievements, for the life he lived, and the impact he had on so many. We mourn his passing, and my sincerest condolences to the Bunting family.
