Mar 3, 2009 changed my life forever. But today, I found some comfort in visiting my Soldier. Most won’t understand how close people become when serving together but suffice it to say she’ll always be family and never forgotten.

Its been three years now and Jessica is still in my heart and mind. I remember meeting her mama when she came down to help her daughter in a time of need. I remember all the smiles and cheer she brought me and everyone around her. I wonder where she'd be right now. Jessie you are still in my heart and your family are in my prayers. God bless you girl, you are still missed.

To the family of SPC Jessica Sarandrea

You do not know me and I do not know you or Jessica, but... Today I went to Section 60 of the Arlington Cemetery and saw Jessica's head stone. I thought it was important to let you know that someone is visiting her and praying for you all. I walked a lot of Section 60 today and Jessica stood out to me. I, always, was a female Army soldier and Jessica was the first and only female soldier that I came across during my visit. Not knowing her but seeing her head stone among a sea of men names just struck me. Please know that she has had an impact on me that I can't explain and I will do everything I can to visit her often.

To the family of PFC. Jessica Y. Sarandrea:
Please know that just as your loved one remains in your hearts and minds; her sacrifice, and that of your family, remains with the people she died defending. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for her bravery and selflessness, or the heartache we feel for your loss. God bless and keep you always.

Its been over a year now and I still hurt for the loss of Jessica. I hurt for her mom and family. I have anger and sadness but I will never forget the compasion and love this young lady had for her family and people who were lucky enough to be called her friend. She called me Tio, Top, and some other names when she was mad but she was still my friend at the end of the day. I miss you girl, I do.

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Over 1,800 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have some wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and only want you know that we care.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.
Sincerely and Respectfully,

How sad it is to lose another one of our loved ones, to a war so far away. Our sons and daughters, fathers, mothers, uncles,aunts. My heart felt sympathy goes out to the family of this angel "JESSICA" who our LORD has taken home with him and now she watches from a place so high and peaceful, with nothing but love and happiness, that's all she ever deserved. Rest in peace sweet girl.

Oh my Lord! It is heartbreaking for me to learn the loss of Jessica, I mean total devastation. She was just one of the few good people around. We were in 3BSTB 1CD before i got out of the Army, always she had a good smile, kind and loving. Jessica my last moment with you was when i came to the unit to receive my ETS Award, you hugged me and wished me good luck and civilian endevours. I will always remember you, pray for you and your family. This is a loss so hard to swallow. RIP. Condolescence to my former unit 3BSTB 1CD

Jessica, I just wanted to say thank you for your brave and honorable service to a grateful nation, a nation in mourning for our fallen hero’s. You like so many other soldiers chose to serve our nation when needed most and with your life you protected the very core of what America stands for. My nephew PFC Aaron J. Ward also made that sacrifice on 5/6/2008 when he was killed in action in Iraq. As I mourn for my nephew I mourn for you and so many other brave soldiers and please know that you all will forever be in my thoughts and prayers, we as a nation will never forget you. I stand tall and salute you Jessica and from the bottom of my heart I thank you for the nights we at home could sleep without fear and know that we are safe. To the Sarandrea family, words cannot express the pain we now share, but our families will forever have a bond and we will be thinking of Jessica and your family and will keep you in our thoughts & prayers. Since the loss of my nephew I have written on every single legacy page of every fallen soldier and included a photo of my nephew. I encourage you to do the same to Aaron's page. I have done this to honor my nephew but to let you know your loved one is not alone and my nephew is with him and they are now in God's gracious hands waiting for us to join them one day. From the bottom of my heart please except my sincere condolences and may the memories of your Hero carry you through each day for he will never be forgotten!

Sweetheart,
I love you so much. You were a very good friend and I will miss you dearly. How you always hugged me whenever you seen me. How you always said I love you and I miss you, whenever we were on the phone. It has been very difficult for me and your sisters here, We love you so much. You were my little big sis and your "Midget Girls Click" will miss you. A day doesn't go by without you being on my mind. Watch over us. We know that you are smiling down, and that is our motivation every single day. We love you. Rest in peace Love. "Siempre Mi Amor"

To the Sarandrea family,

I know there are no words to say, except how sorry I am for your loss. May you hold Jessicas' memory in your heart and please remember she shall never be forgotten.

...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

To the parents and family, I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to heal you as He gives comfort to you today and for the rest of your lives.

I WAS SO SAD TO FIND OUT OF WHAT HAPPEN. ME AND JESSICA WERE VERY CLOSE FRIENDS HERE IN FORT HOOD, TEXAS. WE HAD SO MANY GOOD TIMES. I REMEMBER THE DAY BEFORE SHE DEPLOYED SHE STOOD IN MY HOUSE AND SHE REALLY DID NOT WANT TO GO BECAUSE SHE SAID SHE WAS GOING TO MISS HER FAMILY. IN THE MORNING WHEN WE GOT UP BECAUSE IT WAS TIME TO TAKE HER FOR MANIFEST I COULD TELL SHE WAS NERVOUS AND THAT SHE REALLY DID NOT WANT TO GO. SHE WENT TO DROP OFF HER BAGS AND THEN SHE TOLD ME "ILL SEE YOU IN A YEAR". AT THAT MOMENT I NEVER THOUGHT THAT, THAT WOULD BE THE LAST TIME I WOULD SEE HER. ME AND HER WERE LIKE SISTERS. I WAS WITH HER AND SHE WAS WITH ME THROUGH OUR GOOD AND BAD TIMES HERE IN FORT HOOD. I AM GOING TO MISS HER SO MUCH. IS GOING TO BE SO HARD WHEN EVERYONE GETS BACK AND SHE IS NOT THERE BECAUSE SHE WAS SO FUN TO BE AROUND. I KNOW SHE IS IN A BETTER PLACE AND SHE IS GOING TO WATCH OVER ALL OF US. RIP NENA I AM GOING TO MISS YOU

Estimada Familia,

I was lucky to meet Jessica for a few days, but it was enough to care about this vibrant young woman, she was sweet strong and very in love with my nephew, her husband. They really lived a love story, her life was short but intense, she realize more of her dreams, she love the army and she was committed to it, she married the love of her life, she travel and make a lot of friends, she was the pride of her family, and the happiness of her husband. In her short life she lived more that a lot of older persons in there entire life. Now she is resting in peace on a wonderful loving place.

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

March 17, 2009

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

My heart goes out to the family of Yvette (aka to me "lil girl").
To the family: God love you and be with you during this difficult time in your lives. God bless you all and May God comfort your hearts.
My family and I was fortunate to have met her in VA, as she was stationed with my daughter (Willet, formerly Poole). We took her in as one of us when we visited several times. Yvette would come along with us to eat, (she never ate much) sleep, (she did sleep) shop (loved to shop) and spend the day at the beach (enjoyed the trip). We took photos, rode bikes, and played chicken foot. We enjoyed her company, love, and laughter. She met me at the airport with flowers and always had a smile and loved life to the fullest. She will be missed and forever in our hearts. Thanks for the memories, Lil' Girl and thanks for serving our country.

There is no words that can express how sorry I am for your loss. No bond is as great as the one between a parent and a his child. My deepest condolences are with you as you grieve.

Here is a website that has been permanently setup to honor the extraordinary young lady Pfc. Jessica Y. Sarandrea (Castillo). She was my wife's Niece, and she truly will be missed. This is an extremely difficult time for all of the family, especially for her father Mr. Carlos A. Castillo, her brother Mr. Josue Castillo, her aunt Mrs. Karla Alden, and her cousin, Amber Alden. Peace and God Bless to All.

I will always have you in heart, and always remember you w/ a big smile on your face and always wanting to hang out w/ a cool mom.....
Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.
I thought of you with love today but that is nothing new I thought about you yesterday and days before that too, I think of you in silence I often speak your name All I have are memories and your picture in a frame Your memory is my keepsake with which I’ll never part God has you in His keeping I have you in my heart.
God bless.......
