Hello,
We wanted you to know that we will be honoring and remembering your loved one this holiday season. We are sending Care Packages to our deployed troops in his name. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Adam L. Perkins US Marine Staff Sergeant.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and many others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,

To the parents and family, I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I know only too well what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. Holidays make this harder to get through and you will find that celebrating birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day & Father’s Day will never be the same. The road isn’t easy that you are about to travel nor are all the books on grief going to map it out for you. It’s ok, just know that we are here for you and will not leave you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve. Grief is an individual journey, that unfortunately like my own self you now have to travel. It doesn’t matter how they died but how they lived that we should focus on. We know that each one in our military joined to make a difference in their own lives and to serve their country. Please know that each one no matter what is an American Hero and to be honored always and forever. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to hold your hand as He gives comfort to you today and for the rest of your life. We also have a very active online support group for those who have died while active duty. You are welcome to join us as no one but those who have walked this path can even start to understand that grief.

Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. I truly feel your loss and pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Adam will never be forgotten.
For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed
But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.
For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.
I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you .

It isn't easy to look at the bright happy face in this accompanying photo - the world at his feet and happy with his world - and realise that this young man is no longer with those who love him best. I looked at the obiturary and noticed EOD - that and the fact that he chose a difficult branch of service tells us a great deal about S/Sgt. Adam Perkins, and the words written on this site tell us more, that he was a loved and loving family man and that his buddies thought a great deal of him.
Adam, you are a credit to your family, your Country and your Corps - and may those who loved you in life, and who love you still, find some peace as they move through their lives without your presence. From our Engineer family to yours - with great respect.

The very landscape of your lives changed on May 17th, and I pray that your memories give you comfort, and that your faith gives you strength, and that the love of God gives you peace.
Your beautiful husband, father, son and brother laid down his life for us all. He is a true American Hero who I know is in the loving arms of the Lord at complete rest and peace.
My son-in-law is currently deployed EOD in Afghanistan, and I know the sacrifice you as family members have made. I honor your service and pray you all receive God's grace to ease your grief.

I am sorry to have to see you again under these circumstances, but we as well as many others will be there for you at the EOD Memorial next May. Ode to a fallen Marine
You are taught love by your parents,
You are taught love by your friends;
You are taught love by your family,
And you are taught love by your kids.
You were once a little baby boy,
Who grew into a teenaged youth;
You then became a young man with questions
And decided to seek the truth.
At some time during your life,
You answered our Saviour’s call;
You joined the United States Marine Corps,
And became a protector of us all.
You returned love to your parents,
You returned love to your friends;
You returned love to your family,
And returned love to your kids.
In the face of unknown peril,
You were willing to fight for peace;
You made the ultimate sacrifice;
So that our way of life wouldn’t cease.
You are now amongst the Angels,
Resting with the Lord on high;
We will honor you, your memory, and your service,
And we will NEVER say goodbye.
So rest our mighty warrior,
For your work is now complete;
Semper Fidelis Adam Perkins,
Until again we all meet.
Our future as a nation is bright because of the sacrifice of Adam Perkins and many other young men and women who are brave enough and willing to protect our country with their lives.
“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”

FINAL INSPECTION
The Marine stood and faced his God, which will always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining just as brightly as his brass
Step forward now you Marine, How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek, And to my Church been true?
The Marine squared his shoulders and said, No Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns can't always be a saint
I've had to work on Sundays and at times my talk was tough
And sometimes I've been violent 'cause the world is awfully rough
But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got too steep
And I never passed a cry for help though at times I shook with fear
And sometimes God forgive me, I wept unmanly tears
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here
They never wanted me around - except to calm their fears
If you've a place for me here Lord, it needn't be so grand
I never asked or had too much - if you don't I'll understand
There was silence all around the Throne where saints had often trod
As the Marine waited quietly for the Judgment of his God
Step forward now, you Marine - you've borne your burdens well
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets. You've served your time in Hell

To the family,
Our family was devastated to hear of your loss of Adam. As your neighbors in Antelope we were privileged to have watched him grow from a boy into a wonderful young man. We remember him as kind person and he was so sweet to our children. Our family’s hearts hurt and grieve for you and we very much want to extend you our deepest thanks for his ultimate sacrifice for our country. Our son too is currently on his second tour in Iraq and when Roger heard the news his commander ordered the flag be lowered to half mast in respect and honor of Adam.
Please know that your family is very much in our thoughts and prayers.
Lots of love,
Roger Sr, Tanya, La'Toyah, Beanie, Elysse and Staff Sgt Roger Moore Jr.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to SSgt. Adam Perkins our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Adam. And to Adam it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Adam, you are a brave Marine Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from
among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
