God Bless, Daniel Cox and his family.
June 3, 2017
To the family of Cpl. Daniel Cox,
I Participated in the Cpl. Christopher G. Scherer Memorial Run on Saturday May 27th in Northport, NY. I ran in honor of Cpl. Daniel Cox service to our country. The words "Thank You" certainly feel inadequate for a man who made the ultimate sacrifice. I wanted you to know he is still remembered and how deeply sorry I am for your loss. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Caren Alessio

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Cox Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Daniel L. Cox US Army. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Today I participated in the "I Did the Grid,' memorial day race in East Northport and Daniel's name was one of the soldiers on my running big whose memory I ran in. Each runner rang a bell at the close of the race for the four soldiers on their bib. Thank you on his behalf for the sacrifice he made so that my family could live in freedom.

One of the toughest missions I've ever done. And yes. I'd do it again. Thanks for posting "Battman". Very thoughtful as always. I didn't take any pictures that day. I was kinda busy doing other things.

I will be caught and probably get a ticket or go to jail, but I still go once a year and leave a beer and drink one with Daniel. I knew his uncle also a veteran.
I was one of about 350 Patriot Guard/American Legion Riders that flagged up and stood with 10' metal flag poles in a very fierce record lightening and rain storm from 9 that morning until 6 pm that night. I think every member would do it again. The powers that be saw fit not to strike one of our poles with a flash from above.
Be seeing you Daniel This Bud is for you,

My son in law is also in the service and thankfully he was brought home safely,this time. He will be shipping out again. I pray for his safe return. My heart goes out to his family and friends. Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to our Brother-in-Arms SPC. Daniel Cox. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Daniel. And to Daniel it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Daniel, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,353 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Daniel’s family and loved ones.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed
But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.
For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.
I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you .

To the Family of PFC Cox
I wish to share a poem with you that was put on my son's memory card last year. I lost him in March 08 in Iraq
I'd like the memory of me to be a Happy one;
I'd like to leave an afterglow
of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo
Whispering softly down the ways,
of happy times and laughing
times and bright and sunny days
I'd like the tears of those
who grieve, to dry before the sun
of happy memeories that I leave
When life is done.
please know that my thought and prayers are with you I give Thanks every day for those who serve our country and give us the freedom that we have They are my Heros God Bless the Good Guys Home of the Free Becasue of the BRAVE

Dear family of Cpl Daniel Cox-
The Star Spangled Banner I fly at my house, I do so in the memory of your son, Daniel. Before he was a hero, however, he was your baby boy. Grief now tries to spoil the joy of having him with you for the short time you did. Cry, scream if you must, but allow God to help you through these sorrowful days. Every day as you awaken, give thanks to God for Daniel, and ask God to give you His peace and to bring to your mind sweet and precious memories of Daniel to help comfort you. Please know that there are so many of us who also have pain in our hearts because of Daniel's passing, and please know that we are praying for you, now and in the future as the Holy Spirit prompts. God has the Victory, He will receive the Glory.

Rest your head now, weary soldier.
Cast your weapons to the ground.
Close your eyes and feel the peace, the light of Jesus fold around. Heed not our earthly battle cries, there is no post for you to stand.
So rest now as He carries you within his loving hand.
Do not look back upon us, disregard our selfish tears.
Walk in the sunlight of the spirit, free of war or pain and fear.
Your duty here is done now, as ours will someday be.
So go him now to places only heroes see.

So that our country remains free, another young man is taken away from his loved ones. My deepest condolences to the family of this fine young man. I feel your pain as I lost my son, PFC Patrick Allen DeVoe II on March 8, 2009 while serving in Afghanistan, Operation Enduring Freedom. God needed another hero so he called Daniel home. As my son Patrick did, your son Daniel gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect us all.
There are no words that I can express to any of you to ease the pain. I know firsthand. I live with pain each and every day. I pray that God gives you the strength and comfort as you grieve your loss.
CPL Daniel Cox thank you for your bravery and services. Thank you for protecting us so we are out of Harms Way. I am very proud of you. You will not be forgotten.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
