Joel Dean Obituary

Joel DennisDean 5/16/77 ~ 8/10/03 Joel, Orem, Utah was born in Payson, Utah May 16, 1977 to Victor and Sandra Dean. He is number six of the eight Dean children. He was married Sept 29, 2000 to his lovely bride, Kristy, along with her children, Sara and Sam. They made the family complete with the addition of their "precious Gracie" (Savannah). Joel loves his children dearly and is a great dad! The knowledge that he is now in Heaven with our Savior, Jesus Christ, and Heavenly Father, is a great comfort. Joel loved to play basketball and loves sports in general. He's always loved the outdoors and loves helping people. He lived his life to love and serve and did so well on the mission he served for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Baltimore, MD, 1997-1999. He was so loved and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife, Kristy; children, Sara, Sam, Savannah; parents, Vic Dean and Sandy (Rolland) Wall; and siblings, Monica (Dean) Riedel, Misty (Jay) Thompson, Jared (Christa) Dean, Melanie (Jonathan) Bond, Amber, her fiance', Lanard Hobdy, Lindsey (Keith) McGinnis, Summer Dean. He loves and will miss each of his 21 nieces and nephews, many cousins, aunts, uncles, and especially grandpa, Robert Dean; and grandmas, Ada Dean, Betty Blair. Services Wed. Aug 13, 2003, 11 a.m. Orem LDS Orchard 3rd Ward Chapel, 810 E. 600 N, Orem, UT. Family will greet friends 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial, Orem City Cemetery. I served in the Maryland Baltimore Mission with Joel (Elder Dean). I wasn't ever companions with him but I was around him enough to feel of his spirit and I know he was a good man who loved the Lord. My heart goes out to his family,I know that death is not the end and he has been taken home to a better place. His family is in my prayers. God bless

The last time I saw Joel was at the SCERA pools. I was chasing our 3 year old around and he was with Savannah. As I watched him with his daughter, I could really tell how much he loved her and what a good dad he must be.

Joel and I share a common love for old Toyota Land Cruisers. Maybe in the next life we will have a chance to restore a few together.

I never knew Joel very well, but his sister, Amber, was my sister-in-law. Dezmond is my nephew as well as his. We are all going to miss him, I know this, but all the same we also he has reached heaven, and hoping he's having a ball up there.

Joel was our neighbor and friend. He was a man without guile, a friend to all, and he had a flawless Christian character. He has a most wonderful companion in Kristy as she is one of the sweetest people we know. His loss is hard for us to bear as we truly loved him. He helped our family on many occasions and was always so kind and gracious. We love you Kristy!

My condolences to this young family at the loss of such a fine young man. My son played basketball with Joel and my sister knew the family. May God bless you at this time. I always wonder why these things have to happen. Some day we'll know.
