Lois Livingston Obituary

Lois B. Livingston 1922 ~ 2006 Lois Gene Brown Livingston, 83, succumbed to cancer on March 4, 2006, at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Lois was born on December 30, 1922, in Salt Lake City, the fifth child of Alma Edwin Brown and Lucile Evans Brown. She attended South High School and graduated as an English major from the University of Utah. She loved good literature and the expert use of language. Lois met Lewis Sears Livingston in high school and thought he was the "clear thing." They were married in the Logan Temple on August 3, 1945. They welcomed three children into their family: Kay (Milton) Larsen; Clyde (Marjean) Livingston; and Marilyn (Lynn) Cooper. Lois and Lewis built their dream home in 1955 in the developing East Millcreek area and have called that region home ever since. Lois served diligently in LDS Church positions including Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary president, librarian, temple worker, and served with her husband who presided over the California Anaheim Mission. Lois and Lew were champion table game players and loved to have their family come home to challenge them to games. Lois is survived by her husband of 60 years, her three children, seven grandchildren, six and a half great-grandchildren, and her brother George Funeral services will be held at the Mt. Olympus 12th Ward, 4176 So. Adonis Drive (3930 East), on Thursday, March 9, at 12:00 noon. There will be a viewing at Garner Funeral Home, 1001 11th Avenue, Wednesday, 7:00-8:00p.m., and at the church one hour prior to the services. Burial Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers Lois suggested contributions to the LDS Church Humanitarian Fund or Perpetual Education Fund.

President Livingston,Kay, from Scotland,a land you hold dear comes a prayer for your comfort, and an expression of love and admiration for the leadership you gave to the mission and to me personally. Sister Livingston is constantly in my memories as are you both, of a very wonderful missionary experience shared together. Anaheim Mission 1980-81

I have such wonderful memories of my mission parents. President and Sister Livingston were and are such great examples to all who know them. As missionaries we were treated like their sons and daugthers. There was never any doubt about the love the Livingstons had for their mission family. I am sure that Sister Livingston and Elder Watts have already had the first Anaheim Mission reunion on the other side of the vail. They are probably working together on plans for the first millenial version of our mission reunion. What a great and glorious thing the Gospel is!

Kay, I will never forget the wonderful trip to Scotland and England with you and your Mom and Dad and other cousins. What a fun time we all had. We still enjoy the video your dad made for all of us. Your tribute to your mother was, as expected - perfect! What a great lady.

Dear President Lew and Family,

Your dear wife, mother, and grandmother was an inspiration to all who knew her --- including us.

Her viewing and funeral were the same time as J. Leigh Cannon's services, so we missed both opportunities to express our sympathy to you. We have happy memories of her and you from the great Mt. Olympus 12th Ward and Stake. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Sincerely, Rees & Virginia Jensen

President Livingston and family,

How special a spirit was found in the person of Sister Livingston. While I share your loss at her passing, I am renewed in that she was always so full of life as I remember her from her days as a mission Mom. How wonderful to know of the great plan for our eternal happiness. I look forward to that great mission reunion in the hereafter in which we are able to reflect and fully cherish our efforts of mortality.

Sincerely one of your mission sons,

John A. Czuba

Dear, dear Lew and children,

Our hearts are very tender at this time to learn of Lois' passing. What a sweet, loving, caring, beautiful person she was--and is! We feel blessed to have lived in the same ward and as neighbors many years ago, and to come to know you both as a Christ-like couple with whom we want to associate eternally. May our loving Father shower His tender mercies down upon you and yours, and give you the comfort you so earnestly seek. We will be with you in spirit; just wish we could be with you in person. All our love, Robert and Helen Wells

Dear Kay and Milt,

We wish to express our condolences at the passing of your mother, Lois. No matter when we lose a loved one there is sorrow, as we know we will miss them for a time. Even when life has brought our parents extreme difficulties with health in later years it is still a difficult transition for us. We are sorry for your loss, but know how grateful you are for the knowledge that you will have a joyful reunion.

Love, Buck and Sheila

Serving with President and Sister Livingston in the Anahiem Mission was an honor. Remember God made a few perfect heads and the rest he covered with hair. Sister Livingston will always be an elite lady.

Sister Livingston was my mission mother from 1978-1980 in the California Aniheim Mission. My fondest memory of her is her attempts at teaching us missionaries proper table manners during a Zone Conferance. I know we were a challenge to her and I have always appreciated her patience.

Dear President Livingston and Family; How Sorry I am for the loss of your sweet wife and mother. Having just spoken to her 2 weeks ago, and hearing the zeal of life in her voice, I was shocked that that her illness was as far advanced as it was. I had been in touch with you, President, and Sister Livingston, full of excitement for our upcomming Reunion, I know that she and President Livingston were so excited to hear about it. I will certainly follow through for you President. We have been able to reach a great deal of former missionaries in preperation for this reunion and I can't help but think that our success was in preperation for letting everyone know about Sister Livingston. We have been able to notify each of them by email for you and your family. My love and appreciation for Sister Livingston and you, President is very far reaching in my heart, My love and gratitude are never ending. May God bless and comfort each of you at this time, is my sincere prayer.

Dear Kay:

I wondered as I pulled up the obituaries on my computer and saw the name Livingston, if that might be a relative of yours. The minute I saw your mother's smile I knew you belonged to her. What a wonderful woman and what a tribute you are to her. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know you will miss her greatly. Please know if I was home I'd be there for her viewing and funeral and I'd give you a big hug. I send all my love and sympathy. Please give my love to Mugs too. God Bless, Les
