Arline G. Gehris
Arline G. Gehris, 95, formerly of Allentown, passed away July 7, 2008 in Whitehall Manor. She was the wife of the late Clinton D. Gehris. Arline was a school teacher for the Allentown School District for more than 30 years retiring in 1976. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late C. Mason and Alice (Smith) Gruver. She was a 1932 graduate of West Chester University. She was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Allentown. She was a member of Mary Livingston Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Allentown; member of Amaranth, Stroudsburg; past royal matron of the former Amaranth, Allentown; member of the White Shrine, Allentown; past worthy matron of the former Ann Penn Allen Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. Survivors: Son, Timothy M. Gehris and his wife, Joan K., of Allentown; granddaughters, Elizabeth, wife of Ed Zipay, of Schuylkill Haven, Judy, wife of Lou Gentile, of Allentown; great-grandsons, Ed and Eric Zipay. Services: will be at the convenience of the family. No calling hours. Arrangements, J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, Allentown. Contributions: No flowers will be accepted, contributions may be made in Arlines memory to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1245 Hamilton St., Allentown, PA 18102 or to the Alzheimers Association, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
