Lisa Broy Obituary

Lisa Marie Knight Dunlop Broy, 37
SCARBOROUGH -- Lisa Marie Knight Dunlop Broy, 37, of Scarborough died on April 15, 2008, at Maine Medical Center, Portland.
Lisa was born on Nov. 23, 1970, in Biddeford, to parents, Margaret (Wakefield) Woodcock and Donald W. Knight. She lived in Sanford until her parent's divorce in 1975, when she moved to Wells with her mother, and finally to South Portland, when her mother married Richard (Dick) Dunlop. Dick later adopted Lisa and supported her in all ways until his death in 1992.
Lisa attended South Portland Schools, receiving her diploma in 1988. She married Herbert P. Broy III, in 1990; they birthed their only child, Samantha, in 1991.
For Lisa, her varied jobs always revolved around the people she came into contact with, and she lovingly put her energy into those relationships. She worked in housekeeping at Osteopathic Hospital /Brighton, and then chose to stay at home with her daughter for several years, running a child care business from her apartment. Lisa and her mother Peggy became Reiki Master teachers and hypnotherapists, and together opened Reiki Partners, a Complementary Healing/Energy Practice in Scarborough, in 2001. In 2003, Lisa began employment at Target in South Portland, and quickly became part of the management team, remaining there until her illness in November, 2007. She was a team player, who brought cheerfulness and a positive fun-loving attitude to all her work situations.
Lisa was very intelligent, a complex thinker and an avid reader. She had a gift for simplifying and clarifying situations, so that they could be brought into focus for others. Her adventurous nature was demonstrated through her travels to Florida, the Bahamas, Ecuador (rain forest and shamans) and her sky diving experience. She dreamed of traveling throughout the country and the world with her husband. Lisa also loved simple pleasures such as a ride and a visit to the Saco River rapids, Two Lights, Salem, Mass., or the Kangamangas Highway. She and her husband spend each wedding anniversary in North Conway, N.H. A picnic and a ride to the water made a perfect day for Lisa.
Lisa loved well; her focus was always on her daughter, Samantha - the center of her world. No matter how tired or stressed she was, she could always find time and energy to do something special with her. Lisa's wish was to see Samantha through high school and launched in her life. She fought valiantly to survive toward that goal. Lisa has touched all our hearts and we will remember her joyous spirit and deep mutual love.
She is survived by her loving soul-mate and husband, Herbert P. Broy III; her adored daughter, Samantha M. Broy; her mother and step-father, Peggy and Arthur Woodcock; aunt and uncle, Catherine and Clarence Smith of South Portland, many cousins; her biological father, Donald Knight; and uncles, Dennis and George Knight of Rhode Island, her aunt, Joy Knight of Portland; her mother-in-law, Margaret McCullogh; step-mother and father-in-law, Ellen and Herbert Broy II; her sister-in-law Terri Pabst, three brothers-in-law and her Target family.
A celebration of her life will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 179 Ridgeland Ave., South Portland, on Sunday, April 20, at 2 p.m., with a reception at the church, to follow. Arrangements are under the care of Funeral Alternatives, Group, 500 Route One, Yarmouth.

Peggy, Herbie & Sammie,
I first met Lisa about 17 years ago soon after we had both been given the gift of becoming Mom's to our beautiful baby girls. I remember Lisa as being full of life, love and generosity for all those around her, but especially for Herbie and "sweet Sammie." Peggy I have always admired the bond that you and Lisa share it is unbreakable. My heart is full of prayers for all of you. Please try to remember the world is such a better place because of Lisa's presence and her light will shine on in her loving family and in all those she passed along her way.
In deepest sympathy for your loss.

It's been a long time...but my memories of our childhood are still vivid in my mind! Apparently you continued to show your beautiful smile and loving warmth to the world after we lost touch with each other. I will always remember the "3 Musketeers" and the fun and love we were fortunate to share! Love you my friend! May you be at peace...

I worked with Lisa at the Osteopathic Hospital /Brighton back in the early 90s. We were co-workers together, and now I'm the supervisor for that same department we worked. Lisa was a joy to work with and a very good person. I was shocked to hear she has passed but will remember her well. Thanks Lisa for leaving a lasting impression with me.
