I was absolutely enchanted by Shelley. I was a researcher for some of her programmes at Granada - and entranced by her intelligence, wit and energy, her beauty - and cheekbones. She was also forgiving. I suffer from travel sickness and had to lay my head in her lap on the way to a shoot. Best is left unsaid. Nonetheless, she invited me to her holiday pad in France. Shelley was an inspirational journalist.

Shelley was an amazing woman, she was brave, stunning, caring, witty and the best grandma a girl could ask for. I miss her more and more each day. She was my role model, I hope that I can grow up and leave a legacie behind as great as hers. I made a promise to her a few days before she past away that I would keep dancing and finish my degree. If she hadn't of made me promise I don't think I'd still be doing it. Her memory is what keeps me strong. She once said to me that when certain people die they never fully leave you, for her this was her grandmother and for me it is her. I miss you Shelley, I love you granny Shelley.

I have not seen Shelley for 30 years and have just been devastated by the news of her death. I worked with her on the Daily Mail during the early seventies. She was cool, chic, classy and sailed through the slightly bawdy milieu of the Manchester press world as effortlessly as a queen. She was a very intelligent, perceptive woman but the thing I remember most about her writing was that she always engaged the other person. She had compassion and a kind heart and that was what lifted her writing above that of other clever people.
She was one of the undoubted stars on the Daily Mail at the time and I was a lowly misfit but we were never anything else but friends. She was one classy lady. I'll miss you Shelley.

Shelley was that rare person, a presenter who was also a real team-player (the equally sadly-missed Tony Wilson was another). Generous, warm, challenging, modest and witty, Shelley was the greatest fun to work with. I shall remember her with great affection.

May I be the first (of many I'm sure) from Shelley's days at Granada TV. it was a privilege to work with her - a talented, warm and inspiring colleague...steel-lined!

Some you remember for their warmth.
And some you remember for their wit.
Some you remember for their vitality.
And some you remember for their talent.
Some you remember for their humanity.
Some you remember for their calmness.
Some you remember for their laughter.
And a few, a very few, you remember for all the above.
A tout à l'heure, mon amie. xxx

I have known Shelly nearly all my life, having been at school with Gavin at 4-5 years old. As I got older she became a friend, not just Gavin's mum. She was a lovely woman, who, although I hadn't seen her in recent years, I shall miss a lot. The only person I allowed to call me Nicky in my adulthood. My love and thoughts are with Gavin, Christian, Daniel and Michelle; and of course with Shelley.

It was wonderful to see you in Saltaire this summer. I am so happy that we had a chat and a hug after all those years. You were still a chique chick!! The lecture had not much to to do with Lowry but lots to say about you ...a thoughtful, kind and brilliant woman. A part of me has died with you .....go knock em out upstairs!
