On behalf of the Massachusetts Chess Association (MACA), I express condolences to the son and daughter of Harvey J. Burger on the death of their father. As a former member of the MACA board of directors, Harvey was an active supporter of chess in western Massachusetts for more than 40 years. He helped organized many tournaments here, among them the very popular AIC Opens in Springfield. He will be sorely missed by chessplayers throughout the state for his dedication to the royal game, to which he devoted much of his life.

Dear Richard and Family,
I am so deeply saddened to learn of the loss of your Dad. Such a nice man, always with a big smile when I saw him. Richard you were such a devoted son and I know how proud your Dad was of you. When my mother, Dina, passed last year it was so sudden and I know the shock you are feeling right now. I will miss your Dad always. With the difficult days ahead of you, know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Take care, Barbara

Harvey was a wonderful person with a "Grand Spirit." He was my father's roommate at the nursing home and a good friend to him as well. I will miss him. To the family, "thank you" for sharing your Dad with our family.
