I knew Jim for nearly 20 years and found him to be the most delightful companion and a stimulating collegue. Quiety spoken, always thinking, always challenging us to improve our techniques, yet he was never envious or critical of others. He was easily the most loved and respected member of our Society and his passing is a tragic loss to us all.
To Betty and to Jim's family we send our heartfelt condolances and we want you to know that our memories of Jim are deep and long lasting. He was a scholar and a true gentleman and will be long remembered.

Jim was a wonderful physician teacher, and person. He made a tremendous impression on students and residents teaching us not only the science of clinical dermatology, but the human interactions and "art" of medicine so important in healing. His teaching and kindness left an imprint on a generation of physicians. His memory is certainly with me as I teach and care for patients today.

Dr. Arnold was one of the most gentle and gracious of men. I met him in the 80's and was so impressed with his kind nature and wonderful sense of humor. I loved his mountain home, his trout pond, his love of river rafting. My thoughts and prayers are with Betty and with his children and Grandchildren. You all have been blessed to have him as a father, husband and Grandfather. He was so wonderful. As a nurse I really appreciated knowing a Dr. who treated everyone with respect and caring. RIP Dr. Arnold.
