Harry Kisby Obituary

Harry E. Kisby ASHLAND Harry E. Kisby, age 82, died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham after suffering complications from lung cancer. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Ethel (Bragg) and Ernest Kisby. He grew up in Jamaica Plain and graduated from Boston Trade School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and served from 1943 to 1946. Mr. Kisby was married to Elizabeth (Gessner) Kisby on June 26, 1948. After receiving a Bachelor of Science and a Master's degrees in education from Fitchburg State College, he taught electrical for 28 years at Quincy Vocational Technical High School. At the same time, he was on the planning committee for the development of Keefe Technical School, Framingham. He also taught electrical code and theory at Keefe Tech in the adult continuing education classes for more than 30 years. After retirement, Mr. Kisby and his wife enjoyed gardening, traveling to Maine, attending musicals and learning to play the organ. He leaves his wife, Betty, of 60 years; his sons, Dr. Lance Kisby and his wife, Diane, of Danville, Pa.; Dr. Glen Kisby and his wife, Donna, of Portland, Ore.; and his daughter, Gail (Kisby) Baker and her husband, Albert Baker, of Marlborough. He is survived by four grandchildren, Brent, Amy, Natalie and Bryan Kisby; and two nieces and a nephew. His funeral will be at Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St., Ashland, on Tuesday, July 1, at 11 a.m., followed by internment in Wildwood Cemetery, Ashland. Visiting hours at the Matarese Funeral Home are Monday, June 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. If desired, donations may be made in Mr. Kisby's memory to the Theta Phi Delta Scholarship fund at the Federated Church of Ashland, P.O. Mr. Kisby,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USN during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

I was so sorry to hear of Harry's passing. We enjoyed many good years together at Keeefe Tech Continuing Eduxation. I had seen him fairly recently at Shaw's. He was a wonderful man!
