Thomas Jackson Obituary

WESTBOROUGH Thomas Lee Jackson, 68, a resident of Westborough for the past 24 years, and formerly of Framingham, died Friday, June 27, 2008, at UMass Medical Center in Worcester following a brief illness. He was the husband for 37 years of Rosa (Howard) Jackson. He was born in Winchester, Va., the son of the late Bennie and Lula (Humbolt) Jackson. As a young man, he lived in Tewksbury and attended college in Maine. He played football in both high school and college. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. His early employment was with Honeywell and later with general Electric. Later, following his marriage to Rosa, he moved to Framingham and was employed for 17 years by Digital Equipment. Mr. Jackson later worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the Department of Motor vehicles and later with the Massachusetts State Police in charge of the disbursement of ammunitions and equipment. Mr. Jackson was a dedicated and devoted member of the Greater Framingham Community Church; almost from the churchs beginning, in the Nobscott area of Framingham. He was formerly elected to a three year term as chairman of the church council and, over the years, served on the usher board, as chairman of the building committee, church treasurer and member of the Mens Christian Fellowship. He was an avid reader; sometimes with three books being read at a time. In addition to Mrs. Jackson, he leaves his cousins, extended family members and a host of friends. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Thomas Lee Jackson will be held Thursday, July 3, at 11 a.m. at the Greater Framingham Community Church, 44 Franklin St. (at Park Street), Framingham. Interment in Tewksbury will be private. Donations in memory of Mr. Jackson should be made to GFCC, PO Box 629 , Framingham, MA 01704. Rosa,
I am so sorry to learn of Tommie's passing. I will cherish the fond memories we three shared in the kitchen of your Westborough home talking about the good times as we thought of how we would solve the problems of the world. So much fun!
Tom is in a better place and I thank God for his grace and mercy that sustained him for such a long time through his illness.

Love,
Avolon Joseph, Columbia Maryland
